Joe Cullen played Whitlock

Seve West is doing better then I thought he would
Been a long day! More interesting if Beaton held on. MVG's all the way. Hope someone can challenge with Taylor gone.

Power cut literally at the City West so Wade, Wright, Taylor, Smith all gone. MVG'S to lose but I will tip Anderson or Lewis.

Well done Barney last night 3-Zip v Jackpot. One or two relative outsiders with a chance, Whitlock v Norris tonight just can't call it.

Did you see it? I only caught the highlights of the last set. Without ruining the result if you haven't seen it, the last set was epic with mammoth finishes and seriously that last leg was insane quality from both.
Never heard of the perfect 10 dart leg before (Sky banging on about it), but feck me, Whitlock at his best is still a pleasure to watch.

Whitlock won recently some smaller tournament in the last few days and that winning feeling and seeing him play at his best is brilliant not just for him or us but for the game of darts as a whole. Might be a very good e.w chance and that last set .... speechless!

I've a lot of time for Norris too and fair play to him for his efforts. Peak Whitlock when he moved over to the PDC was fantastic- those massive checkouts- hope he's back for real.
Sadly, I think MVG will blow him away though- just hope I'm wrong.

Tonight's Quarter Final Lineup @ CityWest:

Michael Van Gerwen v Simon Whitlock

Dave Chisnall v Daryl Guerney

Gary Anderson v Kim Huybrechts

Benito Van De Pas v Raymond Van Barneveld.

Crap lineup to be fair, can't see past MvG, Chizzy, Anderson and RvB which would at least make the SF's a bit more entertaining

Yep, Gurney put a decent fight tbf. Great to see both RVB and Whitlock looking back close to their best. Barney cruising here.

Decent semis line-up, albeit I'm away for the weekend.
Ando v RVB
Chizzy v MVG

Even had Anderson was able to start without double in, MVG would have won, he is on a different darting planet

Watched it last night after watching the semis on Monday night (was away for a long weekend). Disappointed that Ando was basically blown away, but yeah, MVG is streets ahead of everyone at the mo'. Thought Chizzy did well to live with him for a while in the semi, but this guy can maintain that insane average all tournament, let alone all night long.
Not the best format for Ando and at least he is coming back in to form. The animosity between the pair seems to have dissipated too. I guess even the biggest egos and talents have to admit that MVG is taking the game to another level.

Each time I think it odd that at the age of 27 he's still only won the World Championship once, I remind myself Taylor was nearly 30 before he won his first! It's a much more competitive sport these days and I don't think MvG will get to Taylor's frankly incredible 16, but the way he's capable of playing each World Championship that passes him by is a big opportunity missed.
There's still the GsoD, Players Championship Finals and European Championship to come before the Ally Pally so plenty of time for people to get in form, and for MvG to lose his!

I guess on one level it is anomalous that MVG has only one won one title, but tbf, he's only been at this level for what three or four years? Was it RVB who beat him last time? Was Ando in the semis the year before. I'm sure he can go on to win a good number though. Despite the fact it is very competitive it is still something of an upset when he doesn't win a tournament, which underlines his dominance.

Bloody hell, just watching the European Championship quarters on ITV4. MVG is hammering the stacked ex-rugby player Gerwyn Price 4-1 at the interval. Harsh- Price has played really well, but MVG missed double 12 for a nine-darter, hit a 144 for a 12-darter and is averaging 119.75 at 4-1. The word unplayable springs to mind.

Didn't know this was on, need to record it tomorrow

Yeah I blundered into it too. One of those with the QFs in the arvo and semis and final on the night. MVG, Wade, Taylor still in it. Presume MVG will steam it but the other two looked good.

I know that MVG and Klaasen won't be shaking hands, surprised Steve West did, after what he said on twitter about him sending pictures to the disabled teenager

MVG in GOD mode
Yeah, step too far for Mensur, who had some great wins. Wade/Wright final would've been nice. Seriously, MVG has won every TV tourny since the worlds this year...

Taylor beat him the the Champions League final 11-5, think that's the only one he's not won

Ah yeah, fair point. Could be a £200k week for him if he bags Grand Slam of Darts next up.

My bad, it's the World Series of Darts. Klaasen v Huybrechts a very good opener today.

Wow, that last leg! Aargh, if only. Valiant effort from Wright, especially after that epic semi win over Taylor. Tough playing Taylor and MVG back to back with only a 20 minute break in between.
Surely Wright will break his TV duck soon. Seven fonals, seven defeats, most versis MVG. He must know how Murray feels.

Had it all recorded just caught up today, that was the best match I have seen all year between Power v Snakebite and there is two big tournaments before we are Ally Pally bound. Tough on Peter Wright and surely his day will come. Just as a matter of interest who is your pick to win The World Championship in Dec and your dark outsider... each way bet?

The final wasn't bad in the end either. Shame he couldn't take it to another decider, like last year.
Dunno about the worlds- hard to look beyond MVG I guess, but still think someone else could win it. Dunno if Ando can sort his glasses out. I guess dark horses would be Wade, if he can get lucky and avoid Ando/MVG or maybe Lewis, who has been nowhere this season in the TV events. And Wright too. Can't see any rank outsiders getting to the final. Bunting seems to have all but vanished.

The tournaments really are coming thick and fast with the Grand Slam underway this afternoon.

Wright and RVB looking really good. Would be nice to have a different winner for a change.

Would be nice also as regards Wright that he would win that elusive " first televised major", he is playing out of his skin at the moment but as was touched on in previous posts the standard is so high MVG being the standard bearer that your best more often may not be good enough. What has gone wrong with Dave Chisnall as I think he is out of the tournament and Bunting also. Either way think the two " wild card" entrants for the Premier League is anyone's guess. Looking forward to the matches tonight and the rest of the weeks action.

Wright's been so close in finals against MVG a couple of times now but MVG pulls out an 11 dart leg in the last. Chizzy just couldn't hit a double. His manager looks a bruiser.

That Noppert? guy Barney beat today is defo one to watch. As for the Prem, I dunno, don't they have four wildcards? Wouldn't be surprised if they pick Mensur. Sky seem desperate to crack Germany, same with bigging up of Max Hopp. Maybe Huybrechts again, or Jelle, if either has a good run at the worlds. They can pick whoever given MVG has won all but one TV tournaments this year.

Always gets smashed by newbies too. People do always seem to play out of their skin against him. He looked decent in spells.
