Darts

Grand Slam of Darts started today. Keegan Brown started two consecutive legs with the second treble 20 knocking out the first and 120 points on the floor.
Big Andy Fordham back on the box tonight.

EDIT: He had about seven fall out of the treble 20 in the end. Bizarre. Was funny when he was flapping his arms moaning about one dart falling out and while he did that, another fell out:lol:

Great to see The Viking back, played a hell of a lot better then I thought, thinking he would avg 80 and get smashed 5-0

I bet Martin Adams is thinking I should have played the grand slam years ago, would have made £70k+

Adams was excellent tbf. Weird he always hated the PDC. He could've made loadsa cash. He is a top drawer player. Averaged c104 and three 100+ checkouts including a 136 and 133 in a first to five. Odd he kept pissing himself throughout.

EDIT: feck me, Fordham kicking off with a 180. Great stuff. He was so nervous, but was brilliant. Just tough that he had to play Lewis of all people. Sweet he took out the 116 too. His arm underhang was revolting though.

Was amazing that Fordham was throwing so well, despite the fact his hands were visibly shaking.
Yeah I know. That 116 checkout was awesome too. He made Lewis look thin.

Tbf that Scotty dog BDO champ was unlucky. 105 average but mullered by a wily Wright.

Whatever happened to Peter "One Dart" Manley?
I must have mentioned it a couple of times in this mega-thread, but bumped into him randomly in a hotel bar.
Had a chat with him and the missus. Nice people. He seemed a little bitter, saying Sky and the PDC don't care about you when you drop out of the top 32.
Must have been fours ago or so. Gave up his tour card, does a bit of commentary and still does exhibition and corporate stuff.
His massive finishes and double double out shots used to be awesome.

Ando v RVB great match this afty and Wade looked excellent against Webby.

Go Fordham! Great to see an athlete come back from the brink and win again on the big stage.

Adams was brilliant last night tbf. Didn't realise he's 59 and four years older than Taylor.

Was some good darts today, great nine darter from Chizzy and from here on in pure knockout darts. Was disappointed with Ian White thought he would go further.

Yeah White was a bit disappointing today. Really enjoying tge tournament. Likes of Adams have really added something and some of the quality has been exceptional for short format.
I go on hols on Friday so will miss the finale.

That somewhat unknown BDO player, Mark Oosterhuis' dodgy 'Mark Potter' nickname made me chuckle.

Barney was pushed there, he needs at least a quarter final place to get back in the top 16. Looking forward to seeing Fordham v Smith and Adams v Beaton will be close. No appearance for Bunting and from the BDO Tony O' Shea?

Can't remember who they said knocked out Bunting in qualifying. Dawned on me earlier that Whitlock didn't make it either.

Have to say what a last 16 @ The Grand Slam. Andy Fordham well done and to see you back where you belong and Martin Adams great interview also. So who will win it and whose an outside chance? I will post my predictions tomorrow and just looking at tomorrow and Thursday night best of 19 legs we are in for a treat.

Andy Boulton KO bunting. Did Mark Oosterhuis win his place in a raffle I don't think he beat himself let alone anyone else.

Very disappointed in Jelle performance hoping he would have a good run and get himself well in the top 20, Shame only 1 BDO player made it through

Nice night of darts, really liking Fordham and Adams.
Adams retort to meeting MVG or anyone was they are human and only have three darts same as him. Just humble, honest and a thorough gentleman. Watched Martin Adams for years at Lakeside and even in defeat always gracious. Looking forward to the last 16 they are all cracking matches.

Yeah, that was great, sorry I haven't seen a lot more of him, tbh.

Must admit, I used to think Adams was a twat with his horrid gaudy rings and so on. He's really won me round though. Seems a top, top bloke, great player and for me has been the star of the show. Very happy to be very wrong.

I've heard some kind of "twat reputation" before, in like with your (former) opinion, and there was all that talk about the reception he'd get.

All I could think all tournament was "fecking why? bloke is sound as". Infectiously happy.

Also, bafflingly entertaining how much the commentators(and Taylor, so I've heard) are reacting to Fordham mentioning that they(him and Taylor) don't get on. Like it was some crime against humanity to not adore the guy.

"I didn't know he had it in him."

Tonight @ 7p.m onwards * Best of 19 legs:

Gary Anderson v Mark Webster

James Wade v Raymond Van Barnevald

Robert Thornton v Robbie Green

Phil Taylor v Terry Jenkins.

Aye, shame. This leg is a shocker.

How the hell did Wade blow that? Dunno why he gets so riled about stuff on the oche.

What's the consensus on Barney's "slowdown" vs Wade. I think if it works for him and it clearly did so be it Wade should have shown more to rise above it. Also win or lose shake hands but I am still a glutton for a bit of needle/edge to a match.

Are you heading away on Fri on holidays? If so want to share your overall thoughts on a winner and a possible dark horse?

Yeah, getting cab to airport on Friday about 6pm. Just looking- not clear what the draw is for the QF and beyond from the PDC website. My thoughts are caveated with the fact that I thought Ando was a great each way bet and a power scoring Wade, coupled with his finishing, could be a good outside shout. Bad night.
Outside punts Barney, Lewis and Wright in that order!

From who I can remember being left in it:

MVG: Hope I'm wrong and boring to say, but he has to be odds on fave. Relentless.
Taylor: Just not on it- with that start tonight he'd have been killed v MVG. If he loses the ability to win long format he is done- that was his strength.
Barney: Love him, but he's like supporting Arsenal. Great to watch on song, occasional trophy, but disappoints too much. Hope he can do it- good battle against Wade given he is seen more as a front-runner.
Lewis: Arsenal mkII. Always looks ill too- very erratic but needs to take these chances if he's to be considered great. Dunno about him long format v MVG.
Huybrechts: Don't think he can sustain it long format v top guys consistently. Brilliant in bursts and like the way he winds up MVG.
Adams: Go wolfie. SF would be a great result and would love to see him do better. Class guy.
Chisnall: Only Ando, MVG, Taylor and RVB can live with his scoring. Finishing can be OK- he's due a major but wouldn't put money on him- e/w for me.
Smith: Knocked out Fordham:( Heavy scorer, awesome finishing last match, but not yet mentally strong enough when not on total A game.
Wright: Like Wade- more mid than heavy scorer, but awesome finisher. Massive bottle and hope he gets his major soon- doubt here though. He's a tit, but I like him.

Tonight's matches @ 19.00 SS1

Michael Van Gerwen v Steve Beaton

Michael Smith v Dave Chisnall

Martin Adams v Kim Huybrechts

Peter Wright v Adrian Lewis

Oh WHAT A Night !
