Shit, when you said "Just watched it on delay." I thought you meant the entire show!

Sorry mate!
It's fine. My bad for coming in here midway. Would be another big shock if Wade wins tonight. Phil looked so nervous at the end as Wade stayed with him.

I think it was because the crowd turned on taylor towards the end, don't think he was expecting that he loves it in Blackpool.

I can't remember the crowd turning on Taylor before. Forgot about the 'Taylor's going home...' chants. Wade even mentioned it.

Wouldn't mind Wade winning, tbh, unlikely as it is.

That was shocking, never expected something like that.

Yeah I was there last night and the crowd was spilt, a lot of people wanted taylor out. MVG had hardly any fans in there either maybe they love an underdog at blackpool.

Think Wade can win but there's just that obvious risk of MVG blowing him away scoring-wise. He needs it to be a scrap.

Who won? Been watching other things and haven't had a chance to follow the darts at all.

Just watched it now on delay- went out for dinner. MVG won 18-12. As feared, Wade not great. Neither of them were great tbh- low averages. Wade's scoring so disappointing. He was a gent about it tbf. MVG- not a massive fan of his histrionics at times, but he is incredible.

One of the poorer Major finals of recent years. To be fair though it had been a pretty decent tournament, not the best but there were some good matches - Wade v Taylor was superb entertainment.
I was lucky enough to go to the World Matchplay at Blackpool a couple of years back, we saw QF's 3/4 which were Hamilton v Lewis and MvG v Chisnall, it's an amazing venue to go and watch sport in, I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone on here who's thinking about it!

Never been to the matchplay but the venue is pretty stunning. Have been to ally pally for the worlds three or so times and been to frimley green for a players championship. I've got a feeling that the winter gardens may be the highlight of blackpool- have always envisioned it as an utter shithole.

Yeah I'm not a massive fan of Blackpool overall, though there are worse places. But the Winter Gardens during Matchplay week is an incredible place! Need to get in there quick for tickets though!

Blackpool is a bit rough, they were fighting at the back of the arena on the semi final night. It's a great venue and the crowd really get into there darts, plus all the players love it. Personally I prefer ally pally, I think it's just because it's the world championships the biggest it gets. But blackpool is definitely worth a visit.

I've always wanted to go the Grand Prix in Dublin too, looks a similar venue/ atmosphere to Blackpool. The only thing that puts me off is that I've been to Dublin before and know how expensive it is, and it's a lot easier to get to Blackpool and back from where I am!

Has anyone else on here been to the Grand Prix before?

Ally Pally is just a pain in the hole to get to. Maybe I make it up to Blackpool at some point.

I really like that tournament too, but can't imagine the missus wanting to tie in a trip to Dublin with a night at the darts, given it bores her and she doesn't really drink.

Yeah we had to get the tube and then a bus last year, and we booked a hotel at Finsbury park which isn't even that far away.

Yeah I used to live in Finsbury Park years ago.
Forgot to say- there was a scuffle at Frimley Green too. Loads of blokes getting hammered in a small hot venue is a great recipe for it, I guess...

Love it when you blunder into bonus darts on ITV4. Auckland Masters semis- RVB-Wade and Taylor-Lewis.

I wish I was in the same boat, dog was barking at me at 7:30am.
The cat woke me a couple of times demanding affection, but that's fine. Not sure about these world series events, but the final was excellent. Great to RVB back at his best and the final between him and Lewis was top notch- the run of three consecutive 11-dart legs was impressive. Ditto nice to see Wade back threatening. These events are a bit elitist though- do prefer the broader tournaments were young 'uns can come through or even journeymen have the game of their lives.

I don't mind the dog waking me so much, wee fecker needed his breakfast and insulin at 8:30 every morning, but I'd appreciate the lie in on a weekend.

Agree with everything you said, especially about the broader tournaments.

Am all too familiar about the strains of caring for pets on multiple meds. They're worth it though.

World Grand Prix of Darts started last night at CityWest , Dublin. Must be the only tournament starting on a double. Looking forward to it hopefully might even get tickets for one of nights. SS1 Tonight 7pm-12.

Who's your money on? Wouldn't mind Taylor only missed a 9 darter. The minute Wade and especially Power went out serious shakedown in the betting.

Have to be MVG, though I would like to see Gary Anderson win it helooked very good tonight, saying that obviously you need to hit 2 doubles to win a leg and doubles and Anderson don't always go hand in hand.

Anderson can nail the double top when he needs to. Bollocks, thought this started on Saturday and Wade is out:(

Want Ando to win. Hopefully Barney doesn't capitulate pathetically like he did last year. He needs a good run to get back in the top 16.

Might check the odds for a 9darter this week could even be more than one. Going with Lewis and did Thornton e.w @ 40/1 this morning.

Barneys gone beaten by Lewis.

He was beaten last night well Sunday the opening night and he was 16th and it's only going to get worse for him.
Crap. Am having to settle for that 'darts-based quiz' on SS1 now. Just had a curious interlude with MVG and Wade playing round the clock doubles to win some guy money. They got to 16.

Second round looks alright.

Tuesday October 6 (7pm-11pm)
Second Round
Smith/Price v O'Connor/J Lewis
Wright/Chisnall v Klaasen/Dolan
van Gerwen/Brown v Huybrechts/van de Pas
A Lewis/van Barneveld v Webster/Bunting
