Martin Adams so humble and gracious in defeat, just loves the game of darts and just loves to play. Would love to see that top 16 of BDO and top 16 of PDC at the Grand Slam , it would be special and it is the way forward.

Wright being the #4 in the world is so weird to me. Every time I watch darts he seems to lose.
Can you watch him more often please

Disagree BDO had 4 of the top 10 and they managed 5/12 wins vs PDC, only Durrant and Adams I would back to get out of the group. Current BDO no3 has never won at lakeside in 3 attempts where PDC no3 has 16 world titles 15 world Matchplay, 11 Grand Prix, career 1585/200 win loss record granted his names Phil Taylor.

Back to the grand slam bdo seeded players, seeds in brackets

Adams (2) had seeds 8, 20, 25 won all 3 games

Mitchell (6) current BDO world champion had seeds 4, 12 & 14 came bottom, beat an already qualified Chizzy

De vos (8) had seeds 6, 10 and 81 came 3rd beat seed 81 Clayton (who)

Philips (10) had seeds 3, 44 & 85 came bottom 0wins

Yeah, Kim was great, but glad he got it to 9-9. Christ, the post-match interview in that one v Wade storming off...Adams a true pro and a gent.

There's no doubt PDC is stronger, but from what I understand, the BDO runs most of the grass-roots events and it's important it survives, be it independently or in a deal with PDC.

True, don't think PDC has grass roots as such, they have Q school, where there are 34? tour cards up for grabs, so if your not in the top 64 in the OOM you need to go to Q school to get one, which anyone can enter.

Barring Lewis, there aren't many pure PDC talents are there? Maybe the likes of Smith are now, not sure.

I do take your point with the PDC being stronger but the BDO is so flawed in the way that their no1 Durantt was not even there also would have liked to see Tony O Shea. Recently Martin Adams played 72 legs somewhere could be the Dutch Open and came out with 3,700stg the difference in prize money is staggering. I know some of the BDO players may struggle but that "divide" PDC/BDO shouldn't continue the way forward is 32 players and 16 from each, I know the stats and averages would vary so much but if your looking for character, banter, humility coupled with a vast improvement from the BDO players well suffice to say both sides can draw so much from each other. As in if some of the more spoilt players on the PDC took one leaf out of the way Martin Adams conducts himself and how he enjoys the game and on the BDO side it is only throwing darts against players from the PDC that their game will significantly improve.

Friday 13/11/15 @ 7p.m. Quarter-Finals of The Grand Slam

Mark Webster v Raymond Van Barneveld

Robert Thornton v Phil Taylor

First to 16 best of 31 as far as I know.

MVG is just a bit good 111 avg 17 more the Kim,

Lewis was poor especially his finishing, throughout the tournament he only held his throw 50% of the time

Wow 111 over that length format is impressive. Remember that semi between Lewis and Taylor a couple of years ago? Think Lewis averaged 111 and lost. Equalled the record for 180s in a game. This tournament does throw up quality matches.

The Final Of The Grand Slam Of Darts:

Michael Van Gerwen v Phil Taylor

Not entirely unpredictable line-up. Trying to remember if MVG's beaten Taylor in a major final yet? Pretty sure he has at least once.
Glad Barmey put up a fight from what I read. God he needs these ranking points.

If Taylor can stay with MVG for the first 10-12 legs it will be a classic. Taylor will be the outsider @5/2 , looking forward to it, another 9 darter is a distinct possibility. Great to see Barney back where he belongs as he is a great dart player.

Maybe tonight will be seen as some sort of changing of the guard between Taylor and van Gerwen. If Taylor can keep up for the long haul then it might be a great match like @sallycinnamin said.
Not sure it will be changing of the guard as such, given MVG has been number one one for over a year, winning loads, while Taylor has had a 16 month barren run. Would actually like to see Taylor win given my faves are out. Show him people can live with those averages. Taylor raised the bar to 110+ and can still do it.
Knackered, need to sleep and pdc.tv slow updates not great...Got to get up early tom and still jet-lagged to hell.

That was a good final I think. Really thought Taylor had a chance halfway through.
Missing 9 darts and losing the 3rd session 5-0 with throw as well cost him, very good final,

Who can stop the green machine at the worlds (or the World Series and player championship in the coming weeks)

Think Gary Anderson up in Glasgow will be a tough one for MVG, only Taylor or Anderson could live with him as for stopping him remains to be seen. Have to say was a brilliant week of darts and the best Grand Slam I have seen. The standard and the averages are just getting better and better.

Got the world darts series on ITV4.

Keegan Brown with 4 ton+ finishes in his 6-4 win over Ian white

Mark Webster return to form continues beating bully boy smith 6-4 with a 100+ avg

Future world champion Max Hopp with an easy 6-2 win over a young Belgium making his tv debut

Ruby John beating Whitlock 6-4 In a strange game with 7 brakes of throw in a row

Anderson with back to back t.v defeats, plays Phil Taylor next week 1st round at the players championship

Hope the don't play this tournament at Scotland again, the only noise the crowd are making is booing when MVG is throwing at the double

Edit GTFI well done MVG, feck the cnutish boo boys

Yesterday was good especially Barney v MVG and Wright v Taylor, as for the final the standard was brilliant, Wright was 4-0 down in a first to 11 he was 10-9 up but MVG relentless including a 170 checkout. Another tournament this week @ Minehead looking forward to it.

Got to hand it your tip as always MVG ruthless and relentless, showed last night again why he is no1.

Yeah, I read the pdc.tv write up. Poor Wright so close again.
They're a bit weird those world series events. The one in Japan had all the poor lical players in the first round- at least the Scots have loads of decent players.
Nice to see Barney competitive again (and back in the top 16 again). Bit worried about Ando. Last year he won the players and took that form into the worlds. He seems out of sorts now. As for MVG, his dominance is becoming Taylor-esque in the day...

Very good game between Taylor and Anderson. Taylor missing D12 for a 9 darted also taking out a key 148 Check out

But Anderson with back 2 back 80 in the last leg to help him win 6-5

@Jippy

It's opened up to be a MVG vs Lewis final after both Anderson & Wright have been knocked out
Got back tonight and saw the second half of Wright-Whitlock (good match, crazy last leg) and Ando's match- god knows what's happened to his form.
Looks like I didn't miss much in the Leicester game the very brief, dull highlights on MOTD.

Christ, those semis were rather one-sided affairs. Hopefully MVG-Lewis final lives up to expectations. MVG's dominance this year has been staggering- made every major TV final since missing out on the worlds in January apparently.
World youth final now.

The lean mean unstoppable green machine has done it again. Now for the worlds,

The last 3 winners of this competition have gone on to be come world champion

Yeah saw that stat. Odd game. Lewis had chances. MVG is incredible, much as I wanted Lewis to win. Christ, if he'd hit that dart for 5-5...MVG would probably still have won tbf. His consistency is off the scale.

A few good looking 1st round draws in the PDC worlds

Peter Wright vs Keegan Brown

Van de pas vs Max Hopp

West Newton vs Cristo Reyes ( went all the way last year, cocked up the final leg stated befor throwing for the bull )

Gary Anderson says he deliberately lost to Adrian Lewis in 2011

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/darts/35024363

World champion Gary Anderson has revealed he deliberately lost a Premier League match against Adrian Lewis at Glasgow's SECC in 2011.
Scot Anderson, 44, led the match 3-0 but, with Lewis suffering "disgraceful" abuse, allowed the Englishman to reel off eight legs in a row to secure an 8-3 victory.
When asked if he intentionally lost, Anderson told BBC Scotland: "Yes.

"I didn't want to win a game where that happened; I thought it was a disgrace."

Anderson subsequently issued a statement on social media, saying he "would never intentionally lose a match".
Lewis, 30, had beer thrown at him during his entrance to the arena, and coins were thrown onto the stage during the match.
"It was bad that night," said Anderson, who beat Lewis 10-4 in the final two months later.
"I'm a proud Scotsman but when that happened, it sickened me. Aidy is a good friend of mine. It was terrible."
Anderson said it was not "right" for him to win the game.
He added: "If I'm going to play a game, I'm going to play it right. With them doing that, Aidy couldn't play with that going on."
Anderson, who beat Phil Taylor in January's PDC World Championship final, says abuse of that magnitude is something he rarely encounters on the darts circuit.
"I play all over the world and I had never seen it before," he added.
"It cheesed me off. I don't know why it happened, and I hope it will never happen again."

I have to say, I remember that match vividly and although I was shocked when I read the headline, it made sense when I read the article!
I thought at the time the Scottish crowd on the night were a disgrace but luckily we haven't really seen anything like it since.

This time tomorrow the first night at The Ally Pally will have started. Two weeks of it cannot wait. Should be epic and the averages and the atmosphere..bliss!

Decent line-up tonight, but I've got a work event on, which ironically (or not) is darts-themed:mad:

William Hill World Darts Championship
Thursday December 17 (7pm)

Andy Boulton v Per Laursen (P)
Jamie Lewis v Daryl Gurney
Peter Wright v Keegan Brown
Gary Anderson v Boulton/Laursen

Long two weeks of it at The Ally Pally before the weekend maybe suggest/ predict your winner, each-way chance and relative outsider.
