Not a bad final and they did seem the standout players at the tournament this year. A lot of missed doubles, but there was some very good darts in the match too. Wonder if Bunting or Norris will be in the PDC next year?

Seen on BBC that Bunting has transfered across, accepting the tour card. Not sure if anyone else has done the same.

Ah, not seen that. Will be interesting to see how quickly he can get up the rankings and into the TV stages. King did it pretty quickly. Did Hankey actually come over in the end?

Hankey is PDC at the moment. Not done anything of note.

This thread is truly dead if there is no life in it after MVG battered Taylor 7-0 on the opening day of the premier league. Barney was fantastic I'll shout to myself.

I tuned in thought it was a charity match. 7-0, hahahahaha.

Then Lewis looked gutted he let Whitlock win 1 game.

Taylor was using new darts apparently. I found this out before the match and managed to bang a few quid on van get wen at 2.62! 7-0 was a bonus!

Nice work. Yep new arrows and lost quite a few pounds too. Thing is, he still averaged 101 but given it is Taylor, he looks off colour when he is not hitting 105+

Barney was on fire. Unreal darts.

MvG whitewashing Taylor was partly down to Phil being woeful and missing easy doubles as much as MvG's genius. MvG just doesn't miss doubles. He regularly will have poor visits of 50's in a leg chucked in with a 140 or 180 which gets him into a checkout position where he comes alive.

Aden Kirk (who I hear you say) has just knocked out Taylor in the UK Open. As much as I vastly dislike Taylor it's a shame to see him a shadow of his former self. Can't see him getting back to his old level.

He changed his darts and it started going wrong. However, right now you would say he look unlikely to win another major. MvG is here for 20 years and even then you've got Lewis too. Those 2 might just become the best rivalry in the history.

Yeah the kid is on a roll. Brilliant comeback by Lewis and him v Barney tonight should be good.

The UK Open has been OK. Bet ITV and the sponsors are happy that MVG and Lewis didn't draw each other in the semis.

Just flicked to the darts, "finals should be hotting up nicely by now".

Nope.

I just finished watching it. Had to record it cos the missus was seriously darted out over the weekend. OK Jenkins couldn't quite match his brilliant performance to knock out MVG in the semi, but Lewis averaging 109+ in a 12 leg final was stunning. When he is on form he is brilliant to watch.

The stats they are publishing make no sense and are inconsistent. Lewis pinged in so many massive scores it was incredible- it was one of the highest averages ever ffs.

Anyway- ITV's stats, taken off ITV4 official TV coverage.

He's another one, like Taylor, that I just plain don't like. To be fair though, I'll always admit, the man can throw arrows, incredible player when on song.

He seems like he's growing too, the pressure is having less and less impact.

Ugh, formatting killed it. Here we go again for a niggling point.

I'm not saying he is the salt of the earth but he was fecking awesome tonight. Almost a shame he didn't play MVG- can you imagine, that would have been amazing if both were on song.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't like the guy, but he is by far one of the best watches in darts. Amazing player, no denying.

Him and MVG both on best form, I bet Sky, ITV etc, etc, I bet they're all just wet with the thought of say the next two decades of that.

Yeah and I don't blame them. It kind of puts the fears about Taylor's ageing killing the game to bed. Not sure about Wade's new glasses as an aside.

I would love Anderson to rediscover that form he had when he got to the worlds final and for him to keep it. I'm always going to favour watching the fast players.

I'd like Wright to step up a level, and Whitlock to stop that incredible slide he seems to be on.

Yeah, Wright is so nearly there. I like him but he doesn't have the fluency of my faves and I used to love Whitlock's crazy out shots but they are more and more few and far between. Odd game though, look what a great tournament Jenkins had. Whitlock can rediscover it am sure. Good to see King throwing good darts too. He is good to watch on song.

These afternoon/evening match tournaments do throw up some randomness but seriously since being on his knees against Huybrechts, Lewis deserved it. Love the way the top players can blitz three legs in five or six minutes when needed. Reminds me of Ronnie in snooker.

Yeah I used to bet on highest outs and 180s- I remember evaporating all my winnings from one euros/world cup and haven't touched it since! That was back in the day when Whitlock was a shoe-in for a 120+ checkout. Not for the last couple of years.

Jenkins was a beast about 3-4 years ago.

180's is a market I like in play. If the weaker player gets the first 180, you usually get good odds on the other player to get most. MVG went to 13/8 when Jenkins got the first.

That's not a bad shout tbh and sounds a bit naive from the bookies.

Anderson is great to watch. Has the best throw technique in the game for me.

Taylor V Barney is about to start on Sky Sports 2. Its on in Dublin tonight, the atmosphere in unbelievable in the 02.

Hoping for a classic.
Can't believe Barney didn't go on too win after the 160 and 121 check outs. He always looks depressed if he throws a bad 3 darts, if he didn't have that in his game he'd of been more successful. He doubts himself way too much.

Its so odd. Given his standing in the game and the world titles hes won its just strange to see such fragility. A shame really. Hes my favourite player in terms of technique. Flawless

MVG lost it a bit tonight. Wright has an agenda, he should have known better than to take it personally.
