Darts

The ages of the 2 players are showing here for me. We forget MvG is still a young guy. He's a set away from the biggest moment of his life, there are nerves there. Wright has nothing to lose.

MvG the world champion and the new no.1 in the world. Deserved but christ did Wright make him work for it.

Good game, Peter Wright choked at the crucial moments, but still earned 100k and has risen to 7th in the world rankings. He will surely be invited to play in the Premier League Darts as well. MvG now world number 1, Phil Taylor must be fuming mad!

Rofl James Wade left out of the Premier League, not a big surprise after being banned earlier in the season. PDC claiming it was because of his health problems lol.

Well, looks like I won't be able to watch the darts for a good while now. Damn it.

There is always BDO I suppose.

Delighted for both Chisnall and Wright getting into the Prem.

Never really disliked him, but geez, the more of MvG I see, the less I do like him, just something about him rubs me the wrong way. Still fecking ridiculously talented, almost boggles the mind.

feck am surprised about that. He is still number 6 in the world isn't he?

Yup he's world number 6 by like 100 pounds or something lol. However the automatic selections for the Premier League are limited to the top 4 in the world, the rest being wild cards. Also he's no longer considered a big threat anymore and now resorts to shenanigans to win matches. Besides he can now spend more time with his walk on slag rather than turn up for Premier League every week!

Thinking about it, Barney and Anderson are purely in there because of how good they are to watch and how popular they are, given how far down the rankings they have fallen. Still not sure about this enlarged format for the league. It goes on too long and there are more meaningless games.

Decent final. Shame Wright messed up on the doubles so early, he made a game of it though in the end, but too little too late. Thought it was gonna be over by 9.45pm at one point!

Massive shock, not sure what's happened there but always the case in short matches, anyone can have a few bad sets and before you know it you're out. Waites should go over to PDC though, he's easily good enough.

Waites still works full time. His practise levels have probably went down in the last year. Not surprised to see him out early.

Wtf?! David Cameron is playing Martin Adams? What's his nickname?

They are women's darts at the BDO on BBC 2 right now. It really is pub standard. The woman who is the better of the two just missed three of the last four big numbers she went for. It's making me feel better about my game.

I'm talking to myself again in this thread but just watching some highlights of the BDO. Fair enough it's only the first round but they keep banging on about these two players having 93 and 92 averages on their first three darts, overlooking the fact that their actual averages are 80 and 81. Talk about dressing up the numbers.

It's embarrassing jippy. I'm not sure how anyone can watch it. It's such poor quality, combined with the poor atmosphere.

I genuinely feel when watching the BDO that with a few hours practice a day for a couple of months, I'd be a serious threat to the world championship

Agreed on both counts EC and Spiersey. They were saying a bit ago that they haven't had a nine-darter since 1990. There were two this year in the PDC and then MVG's perfect 17 last year!
This Robson bloke looks a real bell with that heart-shaped earring:lol:

Kist, Hankey and O'Shea and a couple of others are decent and could easily move up to the PDC but they are few and far between overall. Annoyingly, being the BBC they seem to give more or less equal coverage to the women's competition and with all due respect it is poor.

I don't know how BDO is still surviving. While the PDC has reinvented it into something really big and exciting, the BDO is content to sit back and do nothing.

The PDC tried to buy the BDO a while back I think but it got rejected. Seems the BDO is in turmoil, but I think the PDC needs it as a grass roots feeder club, as it were. Some talk about the odd relationship between the two here.

Adams just whitewashed O'Shea 9-0 on legs. Up until the second last game the highest checkout was 20! The quality on doubles was horrible.

The dart hitting the board even sounds shit.

With that said, at least the crowd aren't sat there like neanderthals chanting Yaya Toure songs.

The term "pub player" is finally apt on this message board. It really is a joke, I can't believe it gets televised to be honest. I practice a few hours a week and even I reckon I could win a few sets off some of these clowns.

Hats off to the Norris chap. He looks a bit like a tall Peter Manley and was very good at times- he's easily the best I've seen in the BDO this year but dunno how much that says- it's always the ladies when I get in- can't believe Anastasia beat that lass with a slag's face.
