Darts

Very different flights Scutt has, never seen anyone else throw with a 3 prong flight before.
Noticed that he's still unbelievably accurate and he's a cracking player. Consider him to be a definite dark horse. Looking forward to Menzies vs Gates and Barry vs Price.

Gates is always fun in these.

Menzies having a panic attack here?

Keane Barry is a shadow of the player he was last night.
Missing 21 darts at doubles in first two sets

Doets with a 33 dart hold v Van Leuven.

De Decker out and just like the last few TV event majors a lot of the big guns will fall no doubt. Outside of the two Luke's there really isn't that much of a gap between the rest so anything and everything is possible.

Kinda tough draw for De Decker if Woodhouse beats Ilagan this afternoon - went to the semis in the European Championship two months ago, not a lot of players playing today capable of that.
Feck sake. Prophetic words :(

Told myself that I’ll try and watch more of the darts this year as I always forget and now I’m more invested in a match than ever. Sweeting looked very much like a player who’s never played in front of the cameras before but then he started hitting a few. Come on Sweeting!

Nice comeback in the 4th set by Snakebite. Will be a happy Christmas for him.

Williams was a bag of nerves there, had plenty of opportunities to see the game out.

Sounded hammered in the conference after. He’s a bit deluded even if I am a huge fan of him. He’s done. 89 average and giving it the big one.
They all do it before the game and top up during the breaks - well most of them, maybe not the young'uns who have grown up not needing to.

Always remember Phil Taylor saying he never drank and had never been in a pub despite running one and practicing with Bristow every day in one

feck sake I went to the loo there, came back and thought he'd done it twice on the bounce

Only round 1
How many more 9darters?
Certainly won't be the last and the bonuses are tasty enough.

He really should have done quite a lot more on the PDC circuit when he switched.

Seen it happen so many times though when players turn pro - that double becomes much harder to hit when you need to hit it to pay your mortgage.

Anyone remember Scott Rand? Lorry driver who looked like the next big thing then turned pro and couldn't do a thing.

People understandably tend to blame dodgy Ricky Evans performances on him trying to be too fast but I honestly think his biggest issue by far is he's too frantic mentally. Armchair psychologist here reckons he'd be someone who could really benefit from doing some work on keeping his mind a bit clearer.

Hopefully he does go through. He's good fun for the crowds.
