Darts

I remember last year around this time when posters were laughing at me when I said Littler is the best darter on the planet even before his first pro event. Anybody still laughing? It’s hard not to forget he’s only 17 and every pro event he plays till the Worlds is his debut there. Quite incredible.

Ugh shame GVV and Wade the shock exits in the first session.

I know it's been mentioned a few times, but Rydz's hair seems to get weirder every time I see him. Today it was kinda Teddy boy meets Trump.

Stand out tie tonight Cross v Littler.
This weekend is pretty much it till the biggest of them all next month.

The premier league is looking impossible to call, there is no consistency if your name isn't Luke.

Humphries is the only player who can live with/beat Littler.Hes an incredible player.

No Jose de Sousa at the world championship, expect next year to be his last on tour, wonder if he will playing in the seniors after that.

Has he not qualified?

Just watched the final earlier. Crazy standard from the second session onwards. The worlds is tough to call between them two.

No, he lost in today's qualifier.
Got the draw later today 4pm UK time

Worlds draw from earlier today. That Michael Smith side of the draw looks piss poor to be honest especially if you compare it to Humphries' side imo.

Humphries vs De Decker
Littler vs Noppert
Gurney vs Rock
Chizzy vs Anderson

QFs for me although there might be a surprise here or there of course. Littler vs Humphries looking like a tasty semifinal.

Some tough sections to call and tough draw for Ando with R Smith and MVG back to back if he gets through first match.

You always get a few surprises, so for QFs.

Humprhries - Scutt
Littler - Cross
Dobey - Nijman
Schindler - MVG

Am gonna put a tenner on MvG. 11/1 in most places.
Always performs well at the Worlds but he's been so inconsistent this season, more than in previous years, not sure he can easily get back to his usual level just because it's the Worlds this time. If you look at how the likes of Humphries and Littler are performing as of late, can't see him beating them over 5, 6, 7 legs - but anything is possible of course yeah.

There's this account on Twitter that's been posting iconic Worlds moments each day unit it kicks off in 3 weeks, has really been getting me in the mood for this one. Saw Mensur taking out 161 while Van Gerwen didn't go for the bull finish yesterday, the "just look at his face" moment  Great stuff that.

Maybe e/w bet on MVG, given he's surely playing one of the Lukes in the final, barring some colossal upsets.

MVG's got a tough last 16 against Gando/R Smith, but QF and SF look better. Depends on whether the likes of M Smith, Price, Chizzy and Dimi can find some form.

Oh man that was too funny! MvG about to romp home to an easy win and then Mensur out of nowhere takes the freaking set with the 161.

Very favorable draw for Nijman, could see him get into the semis if he produces the same performances he showed all year.

Littler's consistency is phenomenal and he's absolutely dominanting on every single metric. Form guide for the last 200 competitive legs.

Before the start of the big one in two weeks time or less would like to know everyone's all time top 20 players and also not necessarily the best but their top 10 favourite players of all time for whatever reason. I'll post both of my lists over this weekend.

Tricky and it's obviously changed over time and I'll probably change my mind by tomorrow.. I'm also not including Taylor, despite everything he achieved and him the fundamental reason darts is where it is today. I didn't care for him too much when I met him one time, but obviously doesn't detract from his legacy. Humphries and Littler obviously streets ahead and great watches, but I struggle to root for either much.

1-Peter Wright: Everyman hero. Climbed from journeyman almost quitting to nearly man, having issues with choking, to double world champion and multiple major winner. Showman, brilliant player who destroyed everyone during some of his best tournament wins, eg first world title and world matchplay, averaging 104+ through the tournament. Sad seeing him now.

2-Gary Anderson: Likeable no nonsense player, veers between not giving a shit to clearly caring a lot about the sport. Most naturally gifted player too, adaptable, and 2015-16 and 2018 was phenomenal.

3-Michael Smith: Three is probably way too high, but peak Smith is one of the best watches in darts, similar to Lewis back in the day. Shame he's patchy as hell and his lows can be poor too. Thought he'd build more on the GSOD and Worlds wins.

4-James Wade: Amazing durability and ability to eke out improbably wins, often with spectacular finishes. His form lows can be real barrel-scrapers, but overcome a lot to stay in the top 16 and still the third most successful PDC player ever (for now).

5-RVB: Most fluid throw and peak Barney immense to watch. Brilliant highs winning PDC worlds, prem, masters etc...Frustrating when he gave up pretty much in matches though.

6-10: Some blend of Robert Thornton (beating peak Taylor and MVG to win his majors despite being a massive alky), Peter Manley (original double-double showman), John Part (classy player), Whitlock (original checkout king), MVG (he's grown on me, and his achievements and longevity now are second only to Taylor, even if he can he a dick at times).

Honourable mentions to peak Lewis, Jose and Bunting. I'm sure I forgot loads
