Darron Gibson - is he good enough for Everton?

His latest post on Savage
“I think you’re taking your bitterness with getting released by Man Utd out on me. Are you ok?? Still hurting?!”

what is brandy doing now ?
still unattached ?
he is good enough to get into a decent championship team

Savage did get him back by saying something about the England captaincy

They're always arguing, can tell it's all in good banter though. Funny to read though lol.

If SAF does not trust him enough to start such a game when we are short of midfielders then when is he going to get games? What the hell did O'Shea do in the midfield that Gibson could not do? This has nothing to do with the results, but the structure of the team. We played well despite this selection. The midfield collapsed and it was just a matter of time and composure

Agreed. O'Shea is never a midfielder and if Fergie trusts Gibson less than O'Shea to play there you have to wonder why we didn't bring anyone in as only Carrick able to hold in a 4-5-1 is shocking.

This is where we should have bought in the summer a world class midfield player sure we couldn't have predicted Carrick being out today but when where starting O'Shea in midfield three matches into the season you know somethings wrong. Gibson is not good enough imo and clearly Fergusons so I don't understand what reason other than finiancial that he wasn't replaced.

You 2 are joking right?

O'Shea was brought in to anchor the midfield and protect the back 4. That isn't the sort of player Gibson is.

With Scholes so deep these days and Fletcher in the team did we really need an anchor? If Gibson was good enough he would have found his way into that midfield but he clearly isn't.

We know why he was in the team, but it was useless, he kept on moving back and back and just cluttering the box getting in the way of our center backs.
These are the games Gibson should play and I don't like the confidence SAF is showing in the lad.

In order to protect the back 4 and anchor the midfield, the occassional tackle would be quite nice.

I'm not saying O'Shea did well, i'm explaining his selection.

I shudder everytime I see Gibson on the bench. It is a waste of a spot on the bench, just as was shown today.

JOS was there in the top of the defence to shackle Fellaninni or at least put a physical presence on him. Not something Gibbo can do since he is neither big enough or mobile enough.

But he should really not be an option!!

Why not?

Granted he shouldnt be first choice there but he can do a capable enough job.

There's nothing wrong with having him as 3rd choice for that role imo.

Wonder if we would have let in those late goals if O'Shea had still been playing in midfield and tracking runs from deep into the box prior to Evra going off.

Yeh I mentioned that in another thread. Certainly food for thought. It's all irrelevant though, of course.

Probably not. But it was strange. In those last two minutes we just plain switched off. Van de Sar was the only player awake trying to stave off defeat.

Anonymous so far tonight. Sometimes I think if he didn't have a brilliant shot on him he'd not get a sniff.

He'll not be at United next year if you ask me.

He's been light years above Fletcher in this game, but hey, lets just spout the same old bullshit

Has he feck. He's done nothing. Fletcher is playing like Fletcher. Chasing, carrying, harrassing. Gibson has done feck all.

Fletcher has had his worst game for years. Get a fecking grip.

Well that just about sums up Gibson's game then. Get a grip? Me? Are you Gibson's Mum?

He saunters behind everyone. Jogging.

I don't know what fecking game you are watching, I presume it's the same one, which only leads me to conclude that you haven't got a fecking clue or are seriously deluded where Gibson's ability as a footballer is concerned.

He wouldn't get anywhere near the 1st team of most premier league clubs.

Ferguson likes to give youth a chance and I applaud him for that, it's what has made him the manager he is, but Gibson has had his chance.

He's just another Beardsmore, Martin, Chadwick etc etc

With a good shot.

A good shot isn't really enough though.

Can you play a designated "kicker" in a two man midfield. I am struggling to think of anything else Gibson offers.

I think this is probably the worst game to draw an opinion on Gibson, even Scholes couldn't have broken down this Rangers 9 man defence.

That's a fair ish point. I think Ferguson is more than happy with a point, hence the team selection.
