Darmian to Juventus?

Mourinho confirms that Darmian wants to leave, but only at the right price. He also said that the offers we've received so far are way below what we value him:

I don't mind holding out for the right price but Jose's irked me by saying if we don't get the price we want he's happy to keep Darmian around as he could be important for us. Hang on, he's been unable to nail down the RB position, average to poor pretty much every time he's played and both parties would rather he wasn't at the club and yet he could be important for us on the pitch? Surely he's important or he's being prepped for a move, not both.

Well, there could be several reasons for him saying that. One could be to let the interested clubs know that we're under no pressure to sell at the low fees they've bid. Also, given that Valencia and Dalot are injured for the start of the season and Young will likely have barely trained, Darmian could well be an option to start.
Darmian will leave this window imo, but it may happen after the English transfer window closes and before the end of August.

Yeah I appreciate Jose can hardly say in a press conference 'I can't wait to be rid of the useless fecker' but it frustrates me we've been left in a position where he is a genuine option to start our PL campaign. Everyone can see he has downright not been good enough to start for us yet we are one injury away from that being a possibility.

What do you expect him to say? That we want to get rid of him at any cost? Good luck getting any kind of decent price.

For many years we've been getting terrible prices for the players we sell. Since Mourinho came in it's obvious that he and Woodward have talked and decided to work together to play hardball and get better prices, which can then obviously be funneled back into our purchasing power.

Indeed I've acknowledged Jose's said about the only thing he can say in the circumstances. My frustration is that it seems to be more than talk because one injury has put Darmian back in the picture, which shouldn't be the case for a player who is completely surplus to requirements.

A year left on his contract, completely unwanted by us, wants to leave and hopelessly out of any type of form so if we were offered anywhere near £10 million we should snap whoever offers us that’s arm off for it.

I’ve seen lots of reports we’ve been offered £12 million by Juventus, Inter and Napoli but want £16 million which is flat out lunacy on our part. To get nearly £30 million for Blind and Darmian was more than I ever thought we’d get so I say take the £12 million or anywhere around £10 million and add that to Blind’s fee and buy Sandro, Tierney or Telles for the left back role.

Well, on paper he's third choice RB behind Valencia and Dalot and third or fourth choice LB behind Young, Shaw and perhaps Rojo. At most, he'd be a squad option if he stays. I can't see him staying though.

We have an option to extend Darmian's contract for another year, so the contract length itself shouldn't limit how much we make from him. Also, I don't think Juve, Inter or Napoli have even bid £10m. From reports, Inter want him on loan with an option to buy and Juve haven't been willing to raise their bid over around £10m. I'd be happy to sell for around the fee we bought him for (£14m ish).
Mourinho has gone on record to say that we're not signing a LB this summer. You could say that he's bluffing, but he does tend to be truthful when he says the number of players he wants (2 more this summer).

£10m is decent money for someone who is so average and will also save £60k pw in wages.
Hopefully this is just us squeezing an extra couple of millioon from Juve and he does end up going but if he stays that is a complete feck up from all concerned.

If someone pays what we want, he goes. If they don't, he stays. And who gives a shit if he does?

I don't really like proven underperformers staying in the squad and potentially taking minutes from players who might make it, like TFM. Jose seems to differ though.

So several clubs now have offered way below what United think he's worth.

Without a replacement he has to stay, still better than Shaw

He's already been replaced with Dalot, so Valencia, Dalot and Young all options for right back. Don't think we need Darmian anymore, at a stretch we could stick a traffic cone at RB would do about the same job.

No rush to sell him looking at the injury list. May well need him to start the first two games.

There is no need to sell him for peanuts. He could do a job in some insignificant matches. And it is not like we are going to get someone in at RB if he goes.

He'll 100% go in my opinion there's just no rush to sell him because we can wait until the end of August to do that.

Brilliant by Mourhino. Clearly board is not satisfied with the offers they are getting for him so Mourinho goes ahead making him captain for a game and showers him with exaggerated praise in the post match. Must have been a cars salesman at some point.

How many years contract was he signed on, shouldn't it be running out by now? Don't tell me he got a new contract too

He signed a 4 year deal in 2015 so still a year to run plus the club probably have an option for a further year. He could be here for 5 years before he leaves, Darmian a Manchester United player for half a decade.

The horror.

I think he will leave but only towards the end of August. Hopefully Valencia is back by then so we can sell him to one of the Italian teams. Anyone have any news of when Valencia will roughly be back?

We have Dalot back next month too which is exciting and hopefully he can challenge Tony for a starting place. If Valencia isn't back till September then I worry that we may hold onto Darmian till January at least :(

Seriously, we still have far too many deadwood renaming at the club! Blind has gone, Darmian needs to go, one or maybe two of our CB's out of Rojo, Smalling and Jones needs to go. It's now clear and obvious that Shaw is still lagging behind in terms of being our longterm LB. I hope I am wrong on this! I don't think we will sign a LB this summer, so this surely has to be Shaw's last chance and if he doesn't take it and is benched by Young, then either in January or next summer he needs to go then sadly.

Mourinho needs to get his head checked. Even the Italian teams dont want him.

Hardly - we're going into the season with no fit right-backs if we sell him now.

Though I would like to see TFM given a shot there with Dalot/Valencia out.

mad to think majority of the Café was delighted when he signed, started off brilliant then he got ripped to bits by Sanchez at the emirates and never recovered. thought Jose would have made him our RB and got him his confidence back. will go back to Italy and perform well again no doubt.

That match wasn't until October that season he was struggling long before that. He had 4-5 decent games defensively in August to start and then his form fell off a cliff, and it's never really recovered.

I don't get the love-in for TFM, he could'nt make the RB place his own at Palace so why is he good enough for us ?

TFM is at best a decent squad player.

For feck sakes. Just give TFM or Axel a chance there until Valcencia is fit again. Young can also play there with Shaw at LB if needs be.

The intent is pretty obvious. Let him start the season till Valencia and Dalot are healthy. The transfer period lasts till the end of August.

Even if it means we have to play Lindelof as a RB we should offload him, he’s the worst fullback at our club we ever had reahingg incredible number of games, with every new game he proves to be shit, just get rid of him already. It’s not like we couldn’t play Axel or TfM there either, Axel had few good games there for Aston Villa being MOTM once at least and great game in last preseason against Barcelona, I am sure he could do a decent job there, same woth Fosu-Mensah, no matter what their future position will be, Smalling and Evans both developed nicely there in our title winning seasons under fergie so what. Let the italian go, everytime I see his name on a team sheet I get really depressed

He looked a decent player when he played for Italy against England - that was probably the game that got our fans excited. Right age, profile and not a big fee. Shame he’s actually very poor.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he stays until the end of the month, meaning he plays the first 3 games and then goes to Italy, whose window is open longer. We don’t need to replace him, but with Valencia and Dalot both injured and Young getting so far in the WC, we have a short term issue, which he can be the solution for.
