Danny Welbeck | Manchester United: 2001-2014

He's apparently been the one pushing for this deal to Arsenal. Only thing disappointing about this is that if we don't sell to Arsenal, they're stuck with Sonogo till January.

He's a bit overrated on here isn't it?

It's because he is one of our own blah blah.. the sort of thing that's held us back for years. We've tonight swapped a guy who doesn't score goals for one that does whilst promoting the best prospect in our youth team, I fail to see what the fuss is about.

He suits Arsenal to a tee. Great for Danny, great for Arsenal, might not matter to United, he clearly wasn't in our plans if we're going the Falcao route and are fine with him going to Arsenal.

Absolutely gutted.

Love it if we pulled out last minute leaving Arsenal with nothing.

We could've hurt Arsenal. We could of made top four easier.

I'm now sat here hoping Danny is a failure. Hope he does as well as Silvestre.

But disappointing if it happens but if he wants to leave then better to sell rather than have an unhappy player. Bit disappointing from Danny if he does want to leave but nevermind.

A good footballer but his finishing leaves a lot to be desired and to those saying he wasn't given a proper chance he had a full season up front with Rooney in 11/12 and he scored 12 goals in all competitions. Not quite good enough when it mattered but it's always disappointing when a youth product departs.

Why sell Welbeck? I would much rather we sold Mata or someone who has been awful for us.

Arsenal are desperate though.

Hes english, hes young, hes an international striker, hes being sold to a rival. That should make it around 25m

Seems like Welbeck was pushing for a permanent deal.

He has wanted to leave us for a while now. Once LVG told him he was not one of his key players, its easy for him to make the next mental step and totally divorce himself from us for a fresh new start.

A great personality with a romantic story but sadly not good enough for what we require of him right now. I think Arsenal will help him get to the next level that he could not achieve with us for several varied reasons. However, I don't think he has what it takes to make it to top player status.

I wish him well.

How? How can you possibly be more gutted about this.

saw it coming. He wanted out last year and this year too. 4th striker and 16m is not that bad. I like him as a player, but people are sad because he came through the youth system. I rarely have a favourite player, seems like Danny is a fans favourite, which is understandable. With Shinji, was disappointed with the price and obviously wasted talent.

So are we getting a good player?

What are his strengths and weaknesses?
Strong, fast, athletic, good at holding play up, good tekkers, but for a striker, can't hit a barndoor with a banjo. A much better athletic Heskey, if you like.

Christ, I didn't really give a bollocks about Welbeck leaving, until it was to Arse, cause now there's the possibility he will actually become a top player at one of our direct rivals and not a club below us. I'm gone from wishing him a good career, to wishing him failure, sadly.

Not happening though.

Will Welbeck's value on FF automatically go up when he signs for Arsenal? Or do they just do it based on form?
