This. Let them struggle in their search for a striker and play Sanogo up front, who looks like a donkey. If Arsenal don't get a decent striker then no top four for them. We just helping them.

What makes you think Welbeck will be good for them? He has been struggling to score goals for us the last couple of seasons.I understand the argument that he might suite Wenger's system but still I do not see him scoring 10+ goals for them, forget him being their top goal scorer.

Meh. If a club tell a player he's not wanted then he has the right to agitate for his preferred destination. They've no right to dictate where he goes.

Were you happy when Heinze wanted to go to Liverpool? Fergie would never sell Welbeck to Arsenal. He'd tell him to feck off.

The same Hernandez who's just moved to a team where he's likely to be on the bench?
Where will Welbeck play then? Giroud isn't much but at least he's scored 20 goals in a season, I understand Giroud is injured, but when he's fit again I expect it to be a decent battle.

If Welbeck wants to move to Arsenal then it should be a transfer and not a loan.

A loan move to help Arsenal get 4th is truly bizarre no matter how you look at it.

But if he was sold then I wouldn't care because he would no longer be a United player.

He'd be better than Sanogo.

That is something I will never agree with
You'd think if he's been told he's not in Van Gaal's plans here he'd be actively seeking a club where he'd get a regular game so he can make the best of it and hopefully develop his career. If he doesn't find a club tonight what's he going to do until at least January - hang around not getting a game?

Another weirdo.

You think Arsenal getting Rooney is preferable to Arsenal getting Welbeck?

:wenger:

Yes. Rooney is past his best and will only play for a few more years. He's also a fickle bastard with an inflated opinion of himself. He's more talented than Welbeck but is far more problem than he's worth.

Danny has stayed at United longer working hard to make it than he probably should have, rather than throwing his toys out of the pram every time something doesn't go his way. It says a lot that SAF trusted Welbeck, not Rooney, against Madrid in the Champions League. His versatility in attack is much better than Rooney's and he doesn't step on other players' toes in terms of position. He's also a much better team player than Rooney is for a number of reasons, like mental stability (doesn't kick, elbow other players, doesn't swear at the camera for no reason), work ethic (doesn't show up to training a stone overweight), and doesn't slag off his teammates in public.

Medical done, but a deal is far from done according to SSN.

I imagine we are playing hard ball, and rightly so. I hope we are making ridiculous demands, Football Manager style.

Depends on how Arsenal play, but he's a lot more likely to be playing for them up front than he is here. If he impresses, he could potentially take the main striker spot. Better to be a 2nd choice striker with a possibility of becoming 1st choice than 4th choice here. I don't blame him for wanting a permanent move.

He does have that right, and we have the right to be pissed of with him for doing it.

I knew him as a kid, we were in the same year at primary, even kicked around a tennis ball around the yard a bit with him (easier to sneak in than a football, it wasn't allowed - concrete yard). He's a good lad.

I'm sure he's a good lad and I feel like a cnut for hoping he doesn't get the move he wants. I don't know him personally, though, so can only ever care about what happens to him in terms of what's best for MUFC. Can totally understand why he might want to sign for Arsenal. Just hope it doesn't happen.

Erm...yes for me

I think Welbeck is a cracking player and I love seeing youth products in the side.

And the added issue with him moving to a league rival makes it a million times worse. So erm...yes. Just yes

If Falcao's fit, he's on another level to every striker we have at the club at the minute. Only a fit and on form Van Persie could come anywhere close.

Find it really strange the way people see this sort of thing from the players view. Like they want good things for footballers who aren't Manchester United players (any more). Can't relate to that mindset at all.
Agree. However I also can't get on board with being upset with a player for wanting the best move for his career either. As if he's meant to say "oh thanks Van Gaal for not wanting me in the squad. Hull City on loan for a year? Oh yeah, no problem, I'll just give Wenger a ring and tell him I'm not interested because the club would rather I move to a shit team instead".

Latest from SSN, Medical is complete but they're working on his terms.

as long as we don't let him go for the kind of meek fee we usually do with everyone else.
£8m or something mad.

With the English premium, his age, and selling to a rival, why would £20m be out of the question?

Were you happy when Heinze wanted to go to Liverpool? Fergie would never sell Welbeck to Arsenal. He'd tell him to feck off.

Not particularly. But that's because it was Liverpool. I don't have the same feelings toward Arsenal.

Plus, Heinze wasn't told by the club he wasn't wanted. He wanted to go himself.

He's 23, England international. Every other English player is worth more simply because of that, same goes for our players. Clubs are willing to pay £8 million for Cleverley lets not forget.

Yeah, his value might go up a bit, but even then he's not worth £20m. I'd have him somewhere between £15m-£20m at a push. Not to mention him effectively being 4th choice here puts his value down because he's not an invaluable player to us from other clubs' perspective.

And his move is nothing short of farcical. At least Welbeck is after a move that will benefit his career. The former is a waster.

Eh?

Hernandez will get time at Madrid. The bloke he is replacing got more than 30 games. Madrid are in 3 competitions and will go far in the cups. It's a good move for Chicharito

Nice to see us trying not to sell him and fighting to keep him. Shows that if he moves on , its his wish.

Don't hold anything against him, personally. Just hope it doesn't happen.

Roll your eyes all you want lad, the Hernandez move is laughable. His arse will remain numb but good on him, he'll top up a tan. Welbeck is leaving for all the right reasons. We've told him to do one as we felate our stars, he wants to play up top and he wants to do that for a good club unlike a circus like Spurs. He's got a good head on him.

People going in complete meltdown. The club should refuse the move, i dont care what Danny wants.

Can someone explain - from the player's perspective - why a permanent move might be preferable to a loan? Signing on fee?
Job security - the knowledge he's not just going to be punted back to a club that doesn't want him at the end of the loan period if he doesn't cut it while on loan.

He was put up for sale because he didn't want to play second fiddle to Evra. So you think Fergie would agree to such a sale? He wouldn't give a toss what Welbeck thinks.
