Danny Welbeck | Manchester United: 2001-2014

Jeez, talk about going way over the top. The guy was 3rd/4th choice for us and was never going to be anything more. He's not a natural goalscorer so I don't see where people think he's suddenly going to start banging in goals for Arsenal.

Are we scared of f*cking Arsenal now??

No, but we shouldn't help the cnuts. Let them play Sanogo up front. They refused to sell Vermaelen, who was third choice for them.

Actually, it's exactly like that. For me anyway. I support the club, not a bunch of individual players.
So you don't have a soft spot for Cantona? Keane? Robson? Whoever was your idol at united as a child? They meant nothing to you the second they ceased to be employed by Manchester United?

United is nothing without the players, fans, managers and various other people who have shaped the club and its ethos. We don't have statues of the name Manchester United outside the ground we have statues of the holy trinity, Busby and Ferguson. It would probably be an exaggeration to say Welbeck was the embodiment of United's belief in young local players brought through the academy but he's a hell of a lot closer than anyone else in the squad to being that. I wish him well at Arsenal or any other club and I don't see what's wrong with that.

Can someone explain - from the player's perspective - why a permanent move might be preferable to a loan? Signing on fee?

Because he'll get more playing time if he signs contract with them. Even if he plays poorly at times they will play him through those times which wouldn't happen if he was just on loan, they would be better at giving their players a chance then than some Manchester United player.
He is smart kid is our Danny boy, that's why people like him.

If Falcao's fit, he's on another level to every striker we have at the club at the minute. Only a fit and on form Van Persie could come anywhere close.
I don't really care, I get more satisfaction at watching players like Welbeck progress and do well for utd

He does not look to have a place amongst the likes of Rooney, van Persie, Falcao, Mata, and even valencia and young. He played three of them as a sub, but i honestly rather seem him start in some most notably versus mk dons.

He went to the World Cup and started pre-season late, relax.

I don't care what offers he has, the fact is he's trying to push through a move to a rival team. You don't have to call me an idiot for being annoyed about this and I would appreciate it if you didn't.

We'll just have to agree to disagree then. I hope he gets the move to Arsenal.

That's ridiculous. Hernandez has turned to shit for us because of his lack of confidence, playing so rarely and how little he was played last year under Moyes (plenty of 5 minute appearances basically). At Madrid he's their #2 striker and I wouldn't be surprised to see him get around 15 goals for them, being used as a super sub. He's not going to be a starter, he's going to play more football which he will get there, something similar to how he was under Fergie. With the players they have supplying him he'll get plenty of chances too.

He'll get more football, but he needed regular football and has actively declined such a chance. His loss, and I struggle to feel the slightest shred of sympathy when the Madrid support are less partial to his first touch than those inside Old Trafford.

Anyone else worried what might happen to januzaj and Wilson aswell? Rumors has it that Januzaj is not sure about his future at United, whereas Wilson is still at an age not to worry about that. If Welbeck leaves, it should be the upmost importance that we at least give Wilson and januzaj some positive news about their place at United. Januzaj in particularily who has barely been given an opportunity this term.

Agree. I'm worry about Januzaj now (to be honest already worry about him since last week). He hasn't start any of our games this season.

i wouldnt sell him, even for that fee. Loan him out for 6m.
No one is going to pay that sort of money to loan Welbeck, for someone of his age I think £18 to £20 would be a fair price.

I wouldn't blame him for wanting to Arse or Spurs considering that all signs point to that it's us who are pushing him out. When LVG I was really hoping he'd be able to make the tough but necessary decisions on the squad, this isn't what I had in mind. I can understand that LVG would have concerns if RVPs out for a longer period we only have Rooney who's a dependable goalscorer. If he also were to get injured would Welbeck be capable of scoring at a similar level, doubtful. But at the same time we're playing with 2 strikers so someone would have to partner Falcao...I just don't understand, this is frustrating as hell..

huh? just saying that Danny could turn out to be a very good striker.

SAF have him a striking role in 11/12 and although he had an alright season, Fergie said that he needed to score more goals if he was going to succeed here.

I fecking hope we don't get rid of him, on loan or sell him. Loan I'd only half accept if it's to a non top 4 team with no buy clause.

Giving him to Arsenal is fecking insane. We are trying to take their place in the top 4!

Spurs, cheapskates, want him on loan, Sunderland and the Arse will pay 18m for him.

It's got to be the Arse.

I call an idiot when I see it. The club have told him he's not wanted, he can go wherever the bloody hell he likes.

"We don't want you here Danny, but I'll tell you what lad, get yourself over the Hull. I mean, Arsenal would like you, they'll play you an extra 40k per week, and you might just get to play against Real Madrid at some point in March, but nah son, don't take the piss, have some respect and sign for the mighty 'Ull. But yeah, we don't want you here."

Yeah, logic!

So thats what I'm saying is it, I'm saying he's not allowed to do this and has to join some no mark team? Or have you just made a pig headed assumption about my opinion? He has every right to force through a move to wherever he wants but I have every right to be annoyed about it as well.

Classic Wenger player: Good at linking play, fast and can play across the front line. I think he'll be an excellent fit there. The question is if he starts scoring.

I'm not sure why we aren't just keeping him and putting the Falcao wages money towards a player at a position we need.

SSN are now saying there was no medical and no deal is in place. Odemwingie MK2

Arsenal would, they are desperate.

he is ready now for a top spot. Arsenal will suit him with Özil, Cazorla and Alexis.

as long as it is a loan, i dont care. If he does well, we still could take him back and that is the important thing. You nerver know how Falcao will turn out to be and what is happening with RvP.

Well obviousy thats bollocks as his agent has just been on the BBC confirming Arsenal's interest.

@Stan Jefferson

If I'm him, I will be so frustrated for not getting any games. And obviously looking for a starting eleven choice in a big club.
Spurs has Soldado and Ade
He won't pick Liverpool and City
Everton has Eto'o, Lukaku and Naismith is on fire
Arsenal has ?? The injury of Giroud.

Clearly that is the best option you can get to play in a competitive team which has a better quality support for him to score goals than Hull or Sunderland.
