I just can't understand how LVG could have seen his performances in pre-season and deemed him surplus. We've been shit ever since he got injured.

 why on earth would you be pissed off with a player pushing for a permanent move after you've typed thousands of words on here trying to convince people he's shite? Typical of the bizarre personal dislike for him, you massive weirdo.
I don't mind him pushing for a move. Hernandez and Kagawa clearly did that, but at least treat the team that raised you from a kid a small bit better than spreading it on the radio. Hernandez who played less minutes and isn't home grown has no problem with a loan, so why should Welbeck?

Some people are getting way too upset over this. He isn't nearly as good as some of you seem to think he is. I can understand why he wants to leave to get first team football and a loan helps him do that but he's got no place demanding a transfer out. He's not that good.

I reckon he'll get found out at Arsenal too. He's a good player, don't get me wrong, but he'll never be a world class United striker and if he wants out, let him. Wilson will be better, and can score NOW despite the fact he hasn't been given enough chances as Welbeck supposedly hasn't.

His appearance against MK Dons typified him. He's not the worst player on the pitch but he didn't look like scoring... Despite being the fecking striker! Wilson looked much better when he came on. Anyway, I think Wilson will be better soon so I'm all for Welbeck leaving if it means Wilson gets promoted.

Obviously I'd rather keep him but I won't be losing sleep over this. Come on, guys! We've replaced our 'shit' striker with Falcao! And will Welbeck ever be as good as Falcao? I really really doubt it.
I think you have already made your point in several posts, no? But as you can see ppl here and Arsenal/Spurs obviously rate him. You can't change their mind no matter how often you repeat yourself.

Oh do one Welbeck.

Fair play to him. I hope he gets the move he wants.

Van Gaal already intimated that he wasn't wanted so why shouldn't Welbeck dig his feet in to get a proper move rather than some wishy-washy loan?

Transfer deadline day....ruined

I'd prefer no Falcao
Falcao is a colossal upgrade, but the way Welbeck has thrown his toys out of the pram has cemented the dislike I have for him.

Is anyone at least a little, erm, perturbed by this change in philosophy? Sell local lad that we've developed who may not quite be at the highest level, bring in relative mercenary world class talent.

Winning is obviously part of why I love United, but I feel like this particularly switch kind of kills another part of it.

i agree entirely

I admire Welbeck even more for wanting to move to Arsenal. As stated before, he should be one of the first name on the team sheet pre the signing of Falcao, but van gaal persisted with the zombie attacking trio of mata, rooney and van persie.

Wenger will make him as good or even better than Sturridge. His goal record as a striker is great for a player his age. With the style of football Arsenal plays, he will become a catalyst to the success they are going to have.

Not sure how to feel about this. He never really had a chance in his favoured position and the signing of Van Persie really set him back in development after a promising 11/12 season. But then again at United you really need to hit the ground running or you're not going to succeed here.

I reckon he'd be class for Arsenal, I can completely understand why he'd want to go there. I can see why Arsene likes him too, a technical striker that offers pace up front. He'll score 20 goals this season.

Will be weird for him when he will be booed at Old Trafford when returning. But he deserves it.

No he doesn't.

They are a rival for 4th spot, it's a terrible move from utds point of view

I actually understand why he picked Arsenal. Their current situation with no striker is probably the best club for any striker who is hungry for games will pick

It's a great option for him, just like we were a great option for Vermaelen. There are other good options out there too and my preference will always be what benefits the club over what benefits the (soon to be ex) player. feck Arsenal, seriously.

It's fantastic. If Arsenal got Falcao and we kept Welbeck it would have been a blow to our chances for fourth. Smart dealing from the club.
I'm starting to get the feeling that Madrid and Arsenal may have pulled out provided we gave each of them a striker.

I think a lot are forgetting about Wilson in all of this because of the Falcao transfer. LVG obviously has faith in him and from what I've seen, I wouldn't blame him.

True, in fact I've added another , but I really don't think people should get too upset over this. I guess we'll see how he does this season but while he'll be an improvement on what Arsenal have got already, he's not going to be the difference between 4th and 5th. For one, he doesn't even score as much as the donkey that is Giroud. Not even Walcott!

Falcao is a colossal upgrade, but the way Welbeck has thrown his toys out of the pram has cemented the dislike I have for him.
He wants to play and deserves to. How is being told he isn't guaranteed this throwing toys out?

You're not wrong here still feels wrong that he goes to Arsenal, even worse if he's sold instead of loaned

We want him out, during his time here he has been an excellent pro and done what's asked of him every time without fail, we can't deny him a good move.

 Letting him join Arsenal. Whoever is involved in sanctioning this can feck right off.

Arsenal have one decent striker who's injured til 2015, and we're solving that problem for them. Just feck off. I tell you right now we wont finish anywhere near City or Chelsea, so if we're that confident of getting top 4 even after strengthening our biggest rivals for 4th place then we better fecking deliver. This whole thing is an absolute shambles.

So United goes for the Verm and Wenger shows us the middle finger and then we go and sell them Welbeck.....hmmm that does not feel right

Still can't believe we'd strengthen a rival. They're desperate for striker with 4 hours left, just tell them to feck off.

Meh. I've always liked Welbz, and especially based on his performances for England... but we needed better signings today. The squad's short across the spine (CB, DM, CF), and if it just Welbeck we'll be short again. Not a chance of winning the league.

Last two I'll grant you! I like Pete and Alastair though.
Don't forget The Queen!

You've got to admire caf, just few days ago many were saying Hull is his level but in reality he has offers from Spurs and Arsenal.

@mufcwarm92 @Beachryan we've sold youth products countless times before, this isn't much different. I can remember being miffed we sold Keith Gillespie, it happens.

United is a conveyor belt. For every hot prospect we lose there's an Adnan Januzaj or James Wilson coming up behind.

Welbeck wants game time, the club won't give it to him, he's found a big club to go to, let's send him off gracefully.

Also Fergie broke the British transfer record loads before we won the 93 title. He broke it a lot after too. We always spent big before Glazer, even when the class of 92 were mature eg Rio, Van Nistlerooy, Veron.

When Arsenal did the double in 98 Fergie went on, what was at the time, a spending binge for the likes of Stam and Yorke.

We have always given youth a chance, but we have always supplemented that with big buys. At least before Malcolm and sons came in...
You make some very valid points, I just don't think this is the right decision in this instance. Big signings are necessary at times, but we shouldn't always have to sell. I'd sooner see the back of Van Persie.

It's gonna be a bit bizarre rooting for an Arsenal player. On the one hand it suits him perfectly with their style of play so he could come back confident having finally announced himself as a prolific PL scorer. On the other hand if he settles in as well as he can then he'll probably just stay there because it'll be a while yet before Rooney/RvP/Falcao need replacing.
Do people honestly think Van Gaal wants to let him get a season under his belt before bringing him back as our saviour? He doesn't want him, he'll be sold next summer whether he has a cracking season or not.

I just can't understand how LVG could have seen his performances in pre-season and deemed him surplus. We've been shit ever since he got injured.
Van Gaal has a "profile" for each position and clearly he didn't fit that profile. I think his problem is that he's a bit of everything but not enough of anything. He's certainly not a natural finisher so that would rule him out as a striker for Van Gaal.

I think a lot are forgetting about Wilson in all of this because of the Falcao transfer. LVG obviously has faith in him and from what I've seen, I wouldn't blame him.
Yep, in fact, if he was going to a team outside the PL, I'd actually actively get rid of Welbeck to promote Wilson.

It's not that. It's the refusal to go on loan.
Again I do to see an issue with this. Often a loan can mean the player is in limbo, not in all cases but would certainly put Welbeck in limbo

I don't blame him for any of this, but I am fu king pissed at utd
