I just can't understand how LVG could have seen his performances in pre-season and deemed him surplus. We've been shit ever since he got injured.
Transfer deadline day....ruined
I'd prefer no Falcao
We get Falcao and then send our reject striker to Arsenal then?
I don't mind him pushing for a move. Hernandez and Kagawa clearly did that, but at least treat the team that raised you from a kid a small bit better than spreading it on the radio. Hernandez who played less minutes and isn't home grown has no problem with a loan, so why should Welbeck?why on earth would you be pissed off with a player pushing for a permanent move after you've typed thousands of words on here trying to convince people he's shite? Typical of the bizarre personal dislike for him, you massive weirdo.
Oh do one Welbeck.
I think you have already made your point in several posts, no? But as you can see ppl here and Arsenal/Spurs obviously rate him. You can't change their mind no matter how often you repeat yourself.Obviously I'd rather keep him but I won't be losing sleep over this. Come on, guys! We've replaced our 'shit' striker with Falcao! And will Welbeck ever be as good as Falcao? I really really doubt it.

Falcao is a colossal upgrade, but the way Welbeck has thrown his toys out of the pram has cemented the dislike I have for him.Transfer deadline day....ruined

Is anyone at least a little, erm, perturbed by this change in philosophy? Sell local lad that we've developed who may not quite be at the highest level, bring in relative mercenary world class talent.
Winning is obviously part of why I love United, but I feel like this particularly switch kind of kills another part of it.
Will be weird for him when he will be booed at Old Trafford when returning. But he deserves it.
They are a rival for 4th spot, it's a terrible move from utds point of viewFair play to him. I hope he gets the move he wants.
Van Gaal already intimated that he wasn't wanted so why shouldn't Welbeck dig his feet in to get a proper move rather than some wishy-washy loan?

Not good enough for Manchester United.Noooo Welbeck Whyyyy
I actually understand why he picked Arsenal. Their current situation with no striker is probably the best club for any striker who is hungry for games will pick
I'm starting to get the feeling that Madrid and Arsenal may have pulled out provided we gave each of them a striker. It's fantastic. If Arsenal got Falcao and we kept Welbeck it would have been a blow to our chances for fourth. Smart dealing from the club.
Some people are getting way too upset over this. He isn't nearly as good as some of you seem to think he is. I can understand why he wants to leave to get first team football and a loan helps him do that but he's got no place demanding a transfer out. He's not that good.
I reckon he'll get found out at Arsenal too. He's a good player, don't get me wrong, but he'll never be a world class United striker and if he wants out, let him. Wilson will be better, and can score NOW despite the fact he hasn't been given enough chances as Welbeck supposedly hasn't.
His appearance against MK Dons typified him. He's not the worst player on the pitch but he didn't look like scoring... Despite being the fecking striker! Wilson looked much better when he came on. Anyway, I think Wilson will be better soon so I'm all for Welbeck leaving if it means Wilson gets promoted.
True, in fact I've added another , but I really don't think people should get too upset over this. I guess we'll see how he does this season but while he'll be an improvement on what Arsenal have got already, he's not going to be the difference between 4th and 5th. For one, he doesn't even score as much as the donkey that is Giroud. Not even Walcott!I think you have already made your point in several posts, no? But as you can see ppl here and Arsenal/Spurs obviously rate him. You can't change their mind no matter how often you repeat yourself.
He wants to play and deserves to. How is being told he isn't guaranteed this throwing toys out?Falcao is a colossal upgrade, but the way Welbeck has thrown his toys out of the pram has cemented the dislike I have for him.
Why can't this be Rooney?
You're not wrong here still feels wrong that he goes to Arsenal, even worse if he's sold instead of loaned
You have an odd way of seeing the world.
It's not that. It's the refusal to go on loan.He wants to play and deserves to. How is being told he isn't guaranteed this throwing toys out?
Don't forget The Queen!Last two I'll grant you! I like Pete and Alastair though.
You make some very valid points, I just don't think this is the right decision in this instance. Big signings are necessary at times, but we shouldn't always have to sell. I'd sooner see the back of Van Persie.@mufcwarm92 @Beachryan we've sold youth products countless times before, this isn't much different. I can remember being miffed we sold Keith Gillespie, it happens.
United is a conveyor belt. For every hot prospect we lose there's an Adnan Januzaj or James Wilson coming up behind.
Welbeck wants game time, the club won't give it to him, he's found a big club to go to, let's send him off gracefully.
Also Fergie broke the British transfer record loads before we won the 93 title. He broke it a lot after too. We always spent big before Glazer, even when the class of 92 were mature eg Rio, Van Nistlerooy, Veron.
When Arsenal did the double in 98 Fergie went on, what was at the time, a spending binge for the likes of Stam and Yorke.
We have always given youth a chance, but we have always supplemented that with big buys. At least before Malcolm and sons came in...

Do people honestly think Van Gaal wants to let him get a season under his belt before bringing him back as our saviour? He doesn't want him, he'll be sold next summer whether he has a cracking season or not. It's gonna be a bit bizarre rooting for an Arsenal player. On the one hand it suits him perfectly with their style of play so he could come back confident having finally announced himself as a prolific PL scorer. On the other hand if he settles in as well as he can then he'll probably just stay there because it'll be a while yet before Rooney/RvP/Falcao need replacing.
Van Gaal has a "profile" for each position and clearly he didn't fit that profile. I think his problem is that he's a bit of everything but not enough of anything. He's certainly not a natural finisher so that would rule him out as a striker for Van Gaal.I just can't understand how LVG could have seen his performances in pre-season and deemed him surplus. We've been shit ever since he got injured.
Yep, in fact, if he was going to a team outside the PL, I'd actually actively get rid of Welbeck to promote Wilson.I think a lot are forgetting about Wilson in all of this because of the Falcao transfer. LVG obviously has faith in him and from what I've seen, I wouldn't blame him.
Again I do to see an issue with this. Often a loan can mean the player is in limbo, not in all cases but would certainly put Welbeck in limboIt's not that. It's the refusal to go on loan.
