Disappointed he wants to leave. Remember him wanting to leave last season too. Wonder what his reasons are.

Funny thing is, Van Gaal said he was going to give all of our players a chance to showcase their talent on pre season tour, where he could make a decision about their futures. Welbeck was one of our brighter performers on tour, and we arguably lost our way a bit when he got injured. So much for giving him a chance, Louis.

Whatever club Welbeck moves to, I really hope he will go on to prove a lot of people wrong, and has a very fruitful career.

Really frustrating that we're losing Welbeck and Kagawa, while Young and Valencia still stay.

Actually, replace frustrating with 'fecking annoying'.

Its very difficult to make the case that Welbeck is better than Rooney, Van Persie or Falcao. He is a very good player and could mature into an even better player than that. However, its questionable if Welbeck will ever be as effective as Rooney, Van Persie or Falcao on form. Clearly, its impossible to say. Most players mature at around 27, 28 so you can't guarantee that by then Welbeck won't have grown into the next Dwight Yorke. That being said I can appreciate Van Gaal saying to him 'I'm bringing in better, so if you aren't willing to wait around the fringes of the team its fine for you to leave'.

Last season he got benched straight away when he scored 6 goals in 7 games. Pretty much he didn't get enough chances which he deserves.
Now? He hasn't start any single league game and we just signed Falcao.

Welbeck agent on talk shite. Apparently Danny wants a permanent move away from us, not a loan and there is a chance it can happen tonight. Not going to arsenal tho

P.s. also said good chance of clevs leaving tonight too

Excellent for him. He needs to look out for his career first and foremost.

Is he Cleverley's agent too or just speculating on that part?

Welbeck was rumoured to be itching for a move last season so not too surprising. A bit of a shame but understandable that he wants a reliable starting spot up front at this stage in his career.

I assume he does also represent Clevs. Sorry for short posts. I'm sending these whilst driving lol. Just wanted to update the caf on the news.

He played a decent amount but yeah it weren't a lot. Pretty gutted to be honest.

I think the problem is that, while he's very good, he's ultimately never going to lead the line for us. He needs the be the main striker for a side at this stage in his career, but it's not going to happen here for a while at least, and maybe not at all.

Maybe it's wise to loan him to Spurs and if he is really, really good there then keep him. If he is good but the feeling is he still wouldn't make it at United then make it permanent to Spurs.

For Danny himself, this is a good move. First team Football as a centre forward and a good way of cementing his England place.

Provided it's not to Arsenal, I don't have too many complaints.

He must be pissed after the Falcao signing even more, I hope he will at least find himself a good club. Good luck Danny boy. :(

Possibly, although had it not been for the departures of Hernandez and Welbeck we may not have signed Falcao. I doubt we'd have went and got another forward had it been likely that we were going to have 4 prominent strikers over the course of the season. As soon as LVG realised we might be down to 2, he'd have wanted another. The fact that a world class one in Falcao was available was a massive bonus in that respect.

He's played 139 games for us over the last three years. He's had plenty of game time.

But he's never really got full, consistent runs as our main forward. He's spent a lot of time shifted out on the wing, and while he can do a good job out there it's not his main position. A move is likely to guarantee him football as a sides main striker.

The one departure we might regret I feel (see Sturridge). Hope it's a loan as RVP will be 32 next year, plus I can't see Rooney playing as a striker in the near future. Good luck Danny.

I am not sure we would have signed Falcao if we promised Welbeck he'll play depending on form, and not names like it was the case during last year, and by the looks of it it could happen this year tok. I guess we will find out soon.

I know I'm in the minority here but I've always thought he was better suited to playing as a wide-forward anyway.

He can become a decent striker but he'll never be the level required to consistantly start up front for us, in my opinion.

What's ridiculous about this whole thing is that in two or three years(depending on Rooney since I am not sure if van Persie will offer a lot even next year) we might be looking for new striker once again. Oh dear God.

But a promise that he'd play depending on form is arguably quite futile because if Rooney and RVP were both to hit form then he'd be unlikely to get into the team. Of course, he could potentially get a place, but there's a strong chance he'd end up as a bit part player again and it seems clear he didn't want that.

Wilson hopefully develops.

cnutish thing to do, if he's trying to force a move. No doubt some will defend him.

We have to block the move to Arsenal. Mourinho wouldn't even loan ba out to them. Would be a disgrace if we let him go to our rivals.

I thought he was decent out wide as he was a hard worker, but I don't think he had the technical ability to be a top class winger at all. Agree with you on the last part, he's a good striker but if we want to be winning titles again then he's not good enough to lead the line for us.

Looks like he's going to move on, unfortunately... would somewhat explain why we were trying to sign Falcao.

We simply can't sanction the move to arse. We will be in direct competition with them for 4th. It would be ridiculous.
