Whats the latest on him... You lot reckon he stays or leaves?

Still haven't heard the latest on him.
However, with Kagawa is leaving and Hernandez is a possibility leaving as well so my guess Welbeck will stay. Well hopefully.

His competition isn't just Rooney, RvP & Wilson but I think LvG sees Januzaz as a candidate for one of the front two places as well, which is why he might be keen to offload him but with Hernandez gone, he might as well stay but he won't be getting too many appearances now with us out of the league cup as well.

Really hope that he stays, still more to come from him. Rather he was a starter too. Should be playing regularly for us. Has a-lot of attributes the team lacks. Quick, athletic, intelligent and hard working. He's the perfect model of a modern striker and though he does have a long way to go there are similarities between him and Muller.
Whats the similarity between muller and welbeck?

If Van Persie really is having a knee operation, and we continue to play 2 uptop, it'll be silly to let Welbeck go. Actually, it'd be a great chance stake his claim, and actually show people what we've been missing of late.

We shouldn't do any business with Tottenham after the Fryers incident.

Gutted if he goes. He has a lot of potential and has not been given a good run because our other strikers are undroppable.

People wanting Welbeck to go because of Wilson :wenger:. Wilson is no where near ready to be the third choice striker. Hopefully Danny will be staying; we need him.

I would be very disappointed if Welbeck left. Only circumstance which would be OK would be a season loan to the likes of Spurs or Everton.

no i want him to go so he can get the opportunity to play as a CF regularly. Something he'll never get here. Same thing will happen to Wilson too.

Apparently this is on the cards. Welbeck is too much of a talent to sell, especially with RVP at 31 and on the wane.

He's the first one to come on when we need a goal last Saturday, yet people said he's not in LVG's plan?Ridiculous.

I for one would love to see one of Rooney or RvP benched for Welbeck. He needs starts and to be given decent service. We'll see who's avalaible in midfield two weeks from now, and we have De Maria adding urgency to our attacks.

Don't fecking loan him to Spurs. He'll earn them at least 5 points a season and this could easily be the difference between the two teams come the end of season.

I know that buy-back clauses are never actually enacted, but if anyone would want to come back to their selling club, it's Danny Welbeck. I really hope this isn't the last we see of the lad.
Real do it all the time.

BBC Sport's Simon Stone, who is reporting that a loan fee of around £6m has been agreed for Radamel Falcao to join Manchester United: "Think it is now certain Danny Welbeck will leave, either on loan or sold. There had been a desire for him not to join a top-six rival but the club now accepts stopping him going would be pointless under the circumstances. That brings Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham into the equation."

Welbeck to Arsenal would make a lot of sense for club and player. Maybe not United though...

He still can stay depends on how bad RVP injury though. But I don't blame him if he leaves. I understand how frustrated it is when your manager isn't trusting you without giving a single league starting eleven spot.

I was thinking about RvP just then. Maybe there is some hope he stays, but yeah it depends on RvP's knee injury.

With Falcao coming in, Welbeck hasn't got a cat in hells chance of starting. This is the problem with the English game nowadays. Not willing to give youth a chance. Welbeck will have never had run of games up top to prove himself, and we're happy to just flog him off.

It's a bit more complicated then just that, but yeah, it's the way football is going - especially at the biggest clubs. Instant success or you're left behind.

We can't say someone like Young/Cleverley etc weren't given their chance though. So it works for some, for others it doesn't. It's just unfortunate for Danny that we were well-stocked upfront.

It's a double edged sword though. A lot of people will say that if you're good enough, you'll play but look at how Sturridge has developed, once he had a proper run upfront and the manager had confidence in him. So let's hope it works out for Danny and we are at least smart enough to insert a buy back clause or just loan him for a season (not to a rival!).

Ye. Good post.

And Hernandez out, and RvP requiring surgery? I don't see it as a cast iron fact that Danny's leaving, yet... If he does, I hope it's just on loan.

I would think less of Welbeck if he stays and not go to either Arsenal, Everton or Tottenaham. With Falcao arriving, his gametime will be much more limited. Out of all the players we will/might be losing he will be the one we will regret most especially if he goes to Arsenal.

Hmm.. so if he stays how much game time will he get? Especially as a striker? Even if RvP is injured we'll have Rooney and Falcao. Not to mention that we might switch to a formation with just 1 striker.

Without CL/EL and now league cup it will be a wasted year for him on the bench then. Maybe it's better for him if he goes to Arsenal/Spurs, but that's not good for us. Hopefully it's a loan or something with buy-back option whereever he goes, so we can buy him back in 2-5 years! After all we are proving time and time again that we have no hesitation spending big money on 28/29 year old strikers :)

When you realize we just signed a world class striker loan deal when we already have 2 then the formation that LVG has on his mind is obviously 2 strikers.

I am not really bothered him, it's the fact were probably to going to be competing with them and Arsenal for 4th sport.

Welbeck agent on talk shite. Apparently Danny wants a permanent move away from us, not a loan and there is a chance it can happen tonight. Not going to arsenal tho

P.s. also said good chance of clevs leaving tonight too

Is he Cleverley's agent too or just speculating on that part?

Welbeck was rumoured to be itching for a move last season so not too surprising. A bit of a shame but understandable that he wants a reliable starting spot up front at this stage in his career.
