Interesting take on it. Way I saw it, Young was completely free in that area of the pitch, and made up 15 yards or so (can't be exact on that obviously) after Welbeck played the ball. So, there's a lot of grass there, for a start. Then, he's managed to play the pass to an area where, one of our fastest players, at full tilt, is not favourite to win it (as evidenced by the fact that their keeper actually won it) - that in my view is indicative of a bad pass. Young had acres of space, Welbeck essentially managed to put it where Young was the less likely of the 2 to win it. If a pass like that is played in midfield, it's a bad pass. Why any different when it's a forward pass to a teammate in acres of space?
