Danny Welbeck | Arsenal player

So many weird hurt feelings in here, it clear some of you are actually looking to take pleasure is seeing him fail (and its only been 2 games for Arsenal so far) which is weird for supporters of a club that has always been close to its youth prospects no matter whether they are moved on or serve the club well for a matter of years. When that player is somebody who comes across as a nice person and has served the club well on more than a few occasions before (rightly IMO) deciding to move on then its just weird and childish.

Luckily he has plenty of time to make a few on here look stupid over the next 10 years or so of his career.

He's not good enough at the moment and that is very apparent when compared to our current options up front. He wanted to move on and he got his wish, yes he is from Manchester but now he is in London and that is all that matters. Seems like both sides just need to move the feck on.

To be honest, it doesn't really bother me. I just think it's going to be back and forth and kinda pointless. Just a personal take on it, I don't really feel strongly on it though.

Haha, fair point! Well, I just think at the moment, people who are sad he left are in a bit of an uproar ... and tensions seem a little high! We're supposed to be fans of the same club....and we're all at each other's throats here. I'm off topic by the way ... so I'll leave it at that.

Btw, that wasn't me asking you out on a date, as some sort of potential boyfriend, for sausage and chips

OK but the points still stands, wheres the warnings and bans in that thread, which is far worse than this one.
Unless you've been accidentally given mod permissions you wouldn't know what thread bans or warnings have been given out.

I took the decision to make a public post rather than actually dishing out warning posts, foolishly thinking it might be easier than giving a bunch of people formal warnings.

Geez man, I know you mentioned a while ago that you're calm, but it really is not coming across that way.
My calm is being tested by people repeatedly saying we're trying to suppress opinions when it's not the case.

Hmmm, alright.

Ha. Fair enough.

Anyway...this is all getting off topic.

Sounds like a poor performance from Danny tonight. Haven't seen any of it bar the 2 vines that were shown earlier.

Lethal finishing tonight from the greatest striker in the world.

 After it was just starting to calm down in here.

His all round play was better than most of the woeful Arsenal performances tonight. Just the finishing letting him down again. Why is he a striker when the area is his least effective part of the pitch? His physical attributes are great. I'd love to see just once how he did in another role, like a box to box midfielder or something. Like how Bale was clearly in the wrong position at left back originally.

Yeah..but he's not a top striker is he?

His movement isn't very good.
He is stuck right up front as the focal point of the attack and he doesn't have the movement to be effective at it.
It would be interesting to see his map tonight as he very rarely seemed to move out of a 6 yard strip in the middle of the pitch.

Yeah..but he's not a top striker is he?

Just put a quick edit in but yeah I'd love to see him tried in a completely different role just to see what he was like. Similar to how Schweinsteiger moved to cm from the wing or Bale right up the pitch from left back.

I agree..the problem with Danny..is that he see
No i think he got 2 seasons since they paid 16m for him. But he better start scoring. Can't afford to keep on missing chances.

Yeah, perhaps considering the money. But he's going to be pushed out wide by Wenger if he doesn't score enough...not saying the odd goal..but enough. And he won't be pushed out regularly....it will be sporadic or as a sub.

No one has ever said he's the greatest striker in the World. I doubt anyone has ever even said he's in the top 20.

Deliberately inflammatory and childish.

I think this thread should be banned for a couple of months at least. Otherwise, every time he misses, people will post. Every time he scores, likewise. At least give it a few months, maybe people could make some balanced arguments at that point?

No way. This thread will be entertaining as feck whether he performs well or poorly. Win-win.

'Welbeck or falcao' thread disagrees

And to think, people were saying he's too good for Hull.

He'll be at that level soon enough.

He must be under enormous pressure going from 4th choice striker to 1st choice striker in the CL and in a team that firmly expects to finish in the top 4. The reality is that if you're 1st choice striker you MUST score goals.

I actually think he'll probably be happiest being 2nd choice CF to Giroud (as I've stated in this thread he certainly won't keep Giroud out of the team), as he'll still get plenty of minutes but won't have the responsibility of 1st choice striker.

He looked out of his depth in the role tonight. Only glimmer of hope for Gooners is that at least he was getting in the positions to miss. That's something, I guess.

Van safely say I haven't seen that thread and that's probably a good thing if people have been saying either of those things.

Apart from his expected inability to score, Danny was very static as well. Sitting next to his marker offering nothing, bar 1-2 runs. Very toothless.

No, but Arsenal is a top four team...and one would expect them to sign a proven striker in the top 10 at least......they haven't
