Four years is better than five years for young players anyway. if he becomes a top player in two years he'll end up wanting a much bigger contract.

I reckon Gill died years ago and we had him stuffed in that pose and placed at his desk.

Some of the comments on the picture they posted on the facebook page are incredible. Have a read through if you fancy a laugh.

Good news. I like Welbeck but you have people like this...

and I find myself being more critical of him than positive.

Ehh...I think he's a raw talent who might one day become very good player. Same with Rafael. It doesn't help when you have people gushing about him, saying he was sensational last season.

So people getting excited by a local lad coming through our academy and turning into a brilliant young player makes you want to be more critical?

Well done, that makes loads of sense.

No people overrating a player because he's homegrown is what makes me critical. I try to be levelheaded on these things. If the opposite occurs and Rooney or Hernandez gets slated I usually defend them.

Brilliant news...

I reckon he'll be on those comfy sub chairs on Saturday, now he has signed a contract.

Great news. I will remember that you're the resident beacon of sense should things ever get out of hand.

Ah, so now we know why he started on Monday:

"Boss... will I still play now that Van Persie has arrived?"

"Of course son, you're my first choice forward. Robin's been brought in as back-up, that's all... Now sign that contract like a good boy"

Cue RvP starting on Saturday now that Danny's all signed up! (joke)

Great news though, glad to see he sees the bigger picture anyway.

Cracking news this. Danny has a bright bright future ahead of him and will form part of the core of the team going forward.

Good news there Danny boy. The thing about him is he gets into scoring position in every game but finishing them is another thing which he will improve.

reading through some of the comments on SSN, just incredibile
this one in particular got my attention since I didn't bother reading through all of them and this was one of the first ones xD

What a waste of space and time this so called best of british talent is, i cant believe saf has given him a new contract after his performance on Monday night, i was there at Goodison and from a lot of the utd fans are saying the same, bad bad performance from most of the team, one good thing to come out of the game was Kagawa, he is going tobe a big big favourite, Rooney was very poor and as for Nani ? well should be sold, we deffo need a holding mid-fielder, Snieder would be my top man to fit right in
in 1 sentence he manages to say:
1) Nani should be sold
and a double-parter 2) We definitely need a holding midfielder, so Sneijder is the obvious choice.

Really? We need a holding midfielder, so we should sign Sneijder? wow.

Now that Evans, Jones, Rio and Smalling are injured I finaly understand why we bought Van Persie.

This is without even mentioning the obvious Welbeck bashing which makes no sense, but it just amazes me to read posts like this one, one finds it hard to believe anyone can be THAT wrong in such a small amount of words.

Great news. Obviously some of us were rightfully getting a bit worried about him but that puts all of the worries to bed now. Pleased to see this.

Know what you mean.

Kagawa's 18 months older than Danny, look where he is...

Yet Danny's talked up so much all the time, more than Shinji.

Kagawa is a beast though, so it's not fair, but it does put it into perspective.

Excellent news that he's signed, however. Hopefully he works at his finishing and competes for a starting spot.

Excellent news - I'm pleased for him and the club, and yes, I'm even more pleased because he's a local lad.
