Didn't think he was that bad. Had a few half chances thanks to the good runs he made. I guess we're going to see him wide left more often now.
Should have stayed on and Rooney or Nani should have gone instead. Looked far better than either of them tonight.
Tonight he displayed all the criticisms that I got slated for raising earlier in the summer: he doesn't get on the ball enough (23 touches), his first touch is lacking (especially comparing him to someone like Kagawa), he isn't decisive and he just isn't a quick player; pertaining to pace or speed of thought. Apart from that though - he is better than Henry.
He is a good player and has age on his side, but I just don't see the upside that so many on here claim to do.

I don't know how anyone can say he's not quick or doesn't have a good first touch. As for getting on the ball, being decisive and making quick decisions...that's something that he'll develop hugely with first-team football at the top level, surely? His only problem at the moment for me is he's just too tentative in front of goal but that confidence and composure will come.
Welbeck pens new deal
Danny Welbeck has signed a new four-year contract at Manchester United which keeps him at the club until at least June 2016.
The Longsight-born striker, 21, has made 64 appearances for United, scoring 17 goals since his debut against Middlesbrough in the League Cup in September 2008.
Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted to have secured the striker's services for another four years.
"Danny has been with the club since he was eight years old and has made fantastic progress in the last couple of years – first out on loan and last year as a regular in the first team," the manager told ManUtd.com. "He has become an important player at international level as well, as the maturity of his performances at the European Championships showed. This year is another important one for him. He has a bright future ahead of him.”
Welbeck himself added: “Playing for United is all I’ve ever wanted to do – it’s the club I’ve supported all my life. I can’t wait for the challenge of the new season to play my part in helping the team compete for trophies. I’m learning all the time from the best manager in the game and I’m keen for that to continue alongside the world class players in the squad.”
I have to say this is the best set of British players that we have had at the club since the 1990's for sure.
Best piece of striker business this summer.
What? All two of them?
Welbeck, Cleverley, Rooney, Young, Smalling, Jones...
Good news. I like Welbeck but you have people like this...
and I find myself being more critical of him than positive.
Paul Scholes, Carrick?
Paul Scholes, Carrick?
You've been that way about him long before you ever read that post...
