I think Plech was just turning my choice of words against me for comedic effect, to be fair. I'm sure he's got nothing against Danny getting his due.

Oh. Never mind then!

Don't understand why people are against the amount. He deserves parity with Hernandez.

Based on performance? Despite Hernandez's underwhelming second season, his cumulative performance shoots him above Welbeck for now. I also thought the lad's performances were exaggerated last season.

Well his performances last season were good. He goes into the very promising young striker category, same as Hernandez really. Add that to the wages Carroll and Sturridge are on, and I can easily see why he would want 75000.

I actually feel dirty writing that. That's more than most of us will make in many years!

That's nonsense. One good and one bad season is better than one good season? That doesn't even make mathematical sense.

So, we can't moan about him not being given a new contract anymore.... Let's moan about the wage.

Can't understand people getting upset over him getting 75k/week. Actually seems quite cheap to me, considering the going rate now.

And I thought that only the greedy Johnny Foreigner would want to be paid top dosh.

would any of you be happy to do the same job (and a better job in some cases) than your colleagues for less money

welbeck is entitled to try and get the best deal for himself

for what its worth I think 75k on a 5 year deal is a reasonable wage packet for welbeck considering he's the kind of player who is likely to be a regular over the coming seasons (depending on RVP)

he could stay on that contract for 3 years and then we could up it to 90/100 depending on progress

and so on

75k a week for a regular sounds fine for me. glad he signs a long term deal. just waiting for confirmation from manutd.com now.

am i correct in thinking despite it being hernandez bad season, and despite welbeck featuring far more regularly in his "good" season. Hernandez scored more goals?

It didn't take an official club statement for you to throw your toys out the pram about negotiations stalling, so I don't see the problem in people reacting to a similarly unofficial positive update.

Was the idea Danny Welbeck hasn't signed a new contract yet taken from an unreliable Daily Mail article, or is it simply a known fact?

Jesus noodle its nearly like you want him to be off so a reason to be critical isn't taken away from you.

Or alternatively, I'd rather wait for the club to state he's signed a new contract, before deciding to believe he's signed a new contract.

According to the papers he signed one last year, and Lucas Moura and Wesley Sneijder are United players. The later is several United players.

If true it is great news. There have been articles before saying x player is set to get a rise and it took a few weeks, months or is still going on in the case of Nani so I won't take that article for gospel. Hopefully it won't be long before it is confirmed by the club.

75k is a lot of money, however he's just represented England at a major tournament so I guess his wages would start to rise in order to reflect his status as an international player.

Great news, if true. Even if he isn't worth £75k p/w now, he will be very soon and then some. Hopefully it's for five or six years so we have him through his best years.

If Rooney and RVP are worth 200k a week I see no reason why Welbeck shouldn't be getting 75k.
