If he didn't mean it, what do people think he was trying to do?

Llorente is my favourite example, because it seems like every muppet and his dog is desperate for us to sign him to replace a Mancunian lad who's played for this club since he was eight years old. I'll be willing to bet a substantial amount of money that Welbeck will go on to be a better player, and have very little doubt that he has every chance of matching the reputation and career of any of the older players on the above list, with the exception of Wayne Rooney, who is a complete freak of nature.
At first I thought he was trying to control it on the spin, setting himself up for a simple shot from 5 yards out. And that would be a difficult enough move itself, it would still be typical Welbeck.
So hands up who thought he wouldnt make it 2 or so years ago.
I was one, thought Macheda looked the brighter prospect. Than I was sure after his loan to Preston he was going to fail.
Fergie predicted he would become an England regular and I thought he was going mad.
But it was his loan to Sunderland which turned it all around. Fair fecks to all those who were sure he would make it. I just didnt see it myself.
Even though I am not English I was admit I did celebrate his goal last night a lot.
I always had faith. Even though he may had frustrating periods I remained convinced by the flashes of brilliance. I've always believed he would be our best homegrown talent since Giggs and Scholes.
Anyway changed my mind about Welbeck. Good player but unbelievably arrogant. Saw his goal celebration yesterday, why didn't he suck Walcott off as soon as he saw he'd scored.

Jonny Evans and Fletcher will have something to say about that probably!

I'm fairly sure he went over and acknowledged him with a point and a hug after the initial high had worn off. What an odd comment.
I think you're confusing him with Ronaldo.
I think it's irony towards those accusing him of being arrogant. If not, then I don't know what to say.
I can not believe there is a debate going on about whether it was deliberate.
Who cares about football. Anyone know who he's dating?
At least it involves football, I'll take that the way some threads have gone.
I'm still not sure if it was deliberate or not, and I'm a fan of Welbeck. If anyone thinks that's retarded, go do one.
I think it is retarded to be unsure about it unless you have only seen it the once of course
You just don't like this discussion of girlfriends because you haven't got one! Poor ginger bastard.
I used to always tell people that Welbeck was better and a brighter prospect than Macheda, that the latter was overrated due to the Villa goal, and that Welbeck would start for United in time. Now I know a lot of people will see that as me being smarter than you, but I don't.So hands up who thought he wouldnt make it 2 or so years ago.

England boss Roy Hodgson has warned against expecting too much from Danny Welbeck, despite the Manchester United striker's positive impact at Euro 2012.
The 21-year-old scored a superb goal in Friday's 3-2 win over Sweden in Kiev.
"I would do well to encourage you not to put too much pressure on the lad," said Hodgson as England prepared to face Ukraine on Tuesday.
"Before we build him up to the skies to knock him down, we should remember he has a lot of time ahead of him.
Hodgson added: "I am happy with the progress he is making. The fact is he has broken into a team like Manchester United, then got games in the national team when he could still play for the Under-21s.
"He had a wonderful season with Manchester United and Sir Alex [Ferguson, United boss] has high hopes for him."
Welbeck is expected to retain his place for England's final Group D game against the co-hosts, and he is likely to partner club team-mate Wayne Rooney, who returns from a two-game suspension.
The pair struck up an impressive partnership during the 2011-12 season, scoring 30 goals between them on the 18 occasions they started together.
This could persuade Hodgson to select Welbeck ahead of another England's goalscorers against Sweden, Andy Carroll.
But it is also apparent that Hodgson does not want to put too much pressure on Welbeck while he is still developing.
"With the quality of players we have, hopefully I will be able to use him in the same way Sir Alex has done at United - sparingly, from time to time," said Hodgson.
England have four points in Group D and are second behind France on goal difference, with Ukraine a point further back. Sweden, who lost against Ukraine in their opening game have already been eliminated.
Hodgson's men need only a point to book their place in the last eight.
It's ok. Me neither.
Forever alone.

You still had no doubts when he was at Preston?
