He'll be an excellent player, fecking class.

I don't think enough is being made of how fecking good that goal was. Hitting a dropping ball on the volley, whilst running away from goal, and it finding the bottom corner?? Magnificent.

My MOTM. He showed desire and passion and scored a cracking goal.

Agree. Best player on the pitch for us. Great goal. Won a pen. Unlucky not to score from Valencia's superb cross in the first half. Works hard to win back possession. Superb control.

Proper United player. Becoming very important to the side.

He's going to be such a class act. I love the way we play when he's in the side.

very well taken goal, pretty good close control...

Shouldn't have gotten substituted.

He was fantastic.

Love it when a home-grown player kisses the badge, it feels like a supporter playing for the side.

Great game from Danny today. Scored one, won the penalty, made a great run to put the defenders in two minds on the first goal, and oh so unlucky not to score a second.

Drifted out of the game for a couple of periods, but overall he did very well.

He's been the real positive of this season for me.

He seems to fit so well with Rooney which is great. I love the way he combines being able to be a physical threat with being great in the build up.

He's sort of half way between a Hernandez and a Berbatov, such a great all round threat.

His movement is the best of any of our forwards.

He drops deep and is good enough to receive the ball into his feet, and move it quick enough to turn, but he's also turning and running in behind for the ball. Defenders don't know whether to mark him or drop off, and then have to worry about Rooney on top of that.

Plus he's deceptively skillful and has great awareness. Reminds me of Cole, or uninjured Saha.

Love the lad dearly and have been ridiculously optimistic about him since he came on on that mid-season friendly we played in Saudi (when he missed a penalty!) - I can't believe it was 4 years ago.

He's going to be a top player for us I think. He seems to have everything and its so nice to see us bring a striker through. He has pace strength and his finishing is improving all the time. Think him and Rooney is our best front two combination. Shows what a lot of hard work and making the right choices can do for you. The loan move last year was genius.

Fantastic player, great finish today combined with excellent movement. Shows a real desire to win too

Appears to be getting stronger too.Couple of times he outmuscled Richards.Considering Richards looks about twice the size, that's progress in the physical dept.

Nothing better than watching one of your own come through, hopefully he and Cleverley are just two of many in the coming years. Love his work ethic, technically he's gifted and his decison making is spot on.

With Cole,Morrison,Fryers and a few others in the wings...it makes me happy that some local lads are starting to break through

So pleased for Danny, he's getting better all the time
Still drifts in and out of the game but thats lessening with every appearance
his off the ball running has come on no end and he's using his body more too to hold it up and keep possesion
he's gonna be a world star in a season or two

ITV took away from how good a goal it was because Townsend was fecking mortified

I thought he was really good today. Probably our most dangerous player, aside from maybe Valencia.

People still think Daniel Sturridge is a class above Welbeck?

Sturridge looks good. They're different players though and still developing. The important thing is to note what each contributes to the team. I think when we get Cleverley back Welbeck will take off from where he started the season - scoring goals for fun.

No need to compare the two - they're both class and you have to give Sturridge the credit he deserves.

Had a chill run down my spine when Keane bigged him up today - we all know how hard it's been for United's youngsters to earn that in the past.

Was very struck today, and pleased, by how he's started to bulk up. If he can add some of that to his talent, he'll be some PL player...

I personally prefer Welbeck ahead of Hernandez and Berbatov. Gives the team more vibrancy.

He's like a combination of both, he can hold it up and get in behind. He gives us flexibility up front.
