Danny Ings | Signs for Liverpool (lol)

Ings is pretty quick is he not? I've only seen bits of him but he really put me in mind of Olic - quite an aggressive runner if that makes sense.

I don't think Ings is as quick over short distances. Also, Olic was/is a workaholic who was 2-footed and could play wider comfortably. I really don't think there's much of a comparison here. Olic was closer to a Park with goals but less midfield intelligence. If we sign Ings, it will be as more conventional number 9.

Can a Bundesliga expert jump in here on Olic?

He's nothing like Smith BTW. Just because they are both English does not automatically make them the same player.

1) 5 pages in 4 hours for Danny Ings.

2 a) I don't think he isn't good enough as our Nr.2 striker.
...b) But i would take him as our Nr.3 striker if we have any plans to loan out Wilson.

We're not comparing them as players, but rather the situation of signing an average English striker from a relegated team.

Not convinced it would be worthwhile but he'll do as a backup I suppose. Hope it doesn't stop us adding another first XI worthy striker in the summer though.

Is he even that much better than Wilson ?

Don't think so and i expect Wilson to leapfrog him soon if he stays fit.

I'd rather get Charlie Austin
No thanks. Much rather Ings. Ings should actually improve whilst Austin is probably at his peak. Ings is actually a good footballer while Austin is very average and that's being nice. Austin is the better finisher and has the knack of being in the right place at the right time but he's very limited so never.

Indeed. Lazy comparison.

9 goals this year isn't a bad return in that side. Lots of effort but not a lot of quality in there.

Please God/Allah/Jesus/Buddha/Spagheti Monsterns make this signing not happening. Or even better, send him to Liverpool or City.

Good prem player but no where even close to what we need. The squad needs world class players that's going to push each other to play their best football. If we need someone's who's going to be a bench warmer, might as well promote a young player from the reserves. Falcao doesn't appear to be the answer but that's the kind of predigree that's required.

It's a shame that some fans are passing judgement on players as if they are gods of football. ... He is not good, he is my third choice, he is not United's blah blah blah this blah blah that..

Honestly, how many fans dared to own up to have done the same to Fellaini? How many of you out there have sent him to the Guillotine?

I've have been critical of Di Maria. I didn't want him at United not because he wasn't United quality. I was critical because we are financing Madrid's coffer. Most importantly his heart wasn't set on United he wanted to go to PSG.

We certainly dont need a world class striker. If we get one, LVG will shoehorn Rooney in somewhere else and thats one of the reasons we had a slow start this season - playing 2 strikers, playing Rooney instead of Ander and so on

We already have Rooney, lets play him and not mess up what it took all season to get going in midfield

I don't think we'll sign him for what it's worth. I reckon this is one of those occasions where the United is being linked for a certain purpose.

Meh, I'd rather not. I think he's a decent player for what it's worth but I don't think long term it would really be good for either him or us.

.....and you're not passing 'a football god judgement' of ADM then?

And if Rooney gets injured or lack of form? More chances given we'll be playing CL too.....

The way I see it is that we'll be playing 4-3-3 next season with Rooney up top. I think RvP will be sold, Falcao will be gone, Hernandez will be sold, I don't think Wilson is ready yet.

Ings being backup to Rooney makes sense?

No it does not. It would be really crazy if one injury will mean we have Danny Ings up front.

Ings and Strootman and that should wrap up our summer nicely.
Kill me now.

A mediocre player and a player who has been injured for more than a year, while also not being any better than Herrera.

Sign Jagielka when we're at it to complete the new holy trinity of shitness.

Not a chance, but then again if we're playing 4-3-3 then I can't see the point in someone like Cavani either, Rooney is our number one striker and for me RvP is the perfect backup next season, he will be content to play second fiddle, and will already know what is expected of him, plus he will get us goals with this system.

Ings would be good for the smaller cup games, and late on in matches when the game is won, he might just step up a level too, for £5 million it'd be risk free, plus we'd probably get close to that in a loan fee for Wilson.

He's not RVP but he will come on cheap, he will accept the bench and if shit hits fan we will recoup most of the money spent.

I didn't fancy Dwight Yorke when we signed him and I don't fancy this lad.

I really hope he Yorkes me next season if he signs (ooh er).
