Danny Ings | Signs for Liverpool (lol)

I think Aspas is pretty much a done deal to Sevilla. I can see some clubs being interested in Lambert, Borini rumour has it might go to Italy, but yes shifting all 4 won't be an easy task.
However, I still think it's possible all will leave and another striker be brought in.

You'll be able to get rid of them if you don't try to play hardball. It's like last Summer - Borini would have been happy to go back to Italy for a £3-4m fee but Liverpool held out for £12-14m, however the only clubs willing to pay that he didn't want to go to.

I can't see Liverpool accepting bids for Aspas, Balotelli, Borini and Lambert of less than £25m, given they've been bought for a total of £37m since Rodgers arrival. If I were a Liverpool fan I'd take £10m just to get them all off the wage bill.

I think the board will be saying those 4 have to go before we sanction the purchase of another striker.

I'll reserve judgement on Ings as players from lower clubs have sometimes done well. Yorke did it for us.
I hope he'll be a complete mess.

On the face of it, it looks like a terrible signing. Realistically, he's an upgrade (considering how we play) on Aspas, Balotelli, Borini, & Lambert.

We need to shift that lot out, bring Ings & Origi in, and then go out to sign the best striker we can. If Ings is our only forward signing this season, then we might as well sign next years Europa League forms now.

I think you'd be best off loaning Origi out to a Prem team for the year. He's presumably not ready to be your #2 striker after the season he's just had and if you do keep Balotelli or replace him with a proper striker and have Ings than if Sturrridge is healthy, he may not get enough time.

I think this is an okay signing. Borini probably still has enough value in Italy to pay for most of it and while Borini is probably a bit smarter and harder-working, you wouldn't back him to score at better than half to 2/3rds the rate you might with Ings.

I thought Liverpool is trying to get in the top 4 and eventually win the title? why are they signing all these players who aren't better than what they have?

Say you get Higuian or someone, and then Sturridge barely gets injured next season. Would they play together or be rotated?
Depends on how Rodgets wants to play of course but I still think we've played our best football in a 4-4-2 with a diamond and we've got the players for such a system as well, only downside is that he needs to sort out the back four asap. Also, neither one of those two strikers would be happy on the bench but that shouldn't be a problem, competition is a good thing and you'll always have that issue if you sign a forward who's ready to be first choice.

It's probably a moot point anyway because Sturridge and barely injured don't fit in the same sentence without a negation being involved. He's made out of glass and I don't expect to be seeing him a lot next season tbh.

Ain't that the truth. You could probably bring back Roger Hunt and he'd be better than Balotelli.

Yeah, but Yorke did it consistently for a club that played in European competition. Comparing Ings to Yorke is just as harsh for the latter as comparing current Burnley to late 1990s Aston Villa

Yes, I suppose that was a bad example. I just remember being pleasantly surprised by Yorke.

Brilliant.

Hard to believe that Suarez has played there less than 12 months ago...
A case of a player way too good for the club plying his trade there because they were willing to give him a chance in the big league when he was still a relatively unproven talent at Ajax. It happens from time to time, you don't expect them to stay long.

Surely Liverpool could have competed for Higuin, or someone of like him?

I've taken Falcao example just to show that sometimes not even world class player can bring you what you've expected from him, so don't see point in labelling Ings as failure or bang average before he even kicked the ball for Liverpool.

We have world class winger that is Di Maria who can't get games and Ashley Young who's 2 trick pony that in proper set up really flourishes for United.

Ings can be really bad singing but no one can know that before he even played for Liverpool yet people here are so quick to jump to conclusions like they've signed player who never play football before.

was going to say this myself. It proves that a name doesn't give performances either way, obviously bigger names with better career histories will be safer bets but no one can say Ings won't flourish at Liverpool. I think he's better than Lambert and will give more effort than Ballotelli

This is such a Liverpool signing. Hopefully he ends up shit but think think he will do OK. Or at least better than Balotelli.

According to RAWK Liverpool might end up paying 8-10 million pounds for him:D
