Danny Ings | Signs for Liverpool (lol)

Maybe Ings has agreed with Burnley to sign a contract so that they get a decent fee? Thats the only thing I can think of.

Apparently he said that if the clubs interested in him don't pay a decent fee, he will just sign a new contract.

Am I one of the few people here who think he's a bit overrated?

Your not the only one, don't worry.

I hope he has a long and successful career in the Premiership, I just don't think it will be at Old Trafford

I would sign Ings for United only to be a 3rd/4th striker depending on whether wilson goes out on loan.. I think with the right service though he could really become effective..

He's almost certainly going to sign for Liverpool, which is a pity since I would have liked him at Spurs.

Would be a good signing for spurs. Him and Kane would be a tough duo to deal with. Energy, power and both are technically good enough with a decent brain to cause all sorts of bother.

I just hope Ings go to a club where he will be first pick, i'd hate another english player being bought just to sit on the bench. Need to get these English player regularly, mostly why im hoping he doesnt come United if LVG do chase.

The fact he's going to be worth more than whatever we end up selling Hernandez for makes me sad.

How are these compensation fees figured out exactly? Like is £3million some kind of flat fee? So we'll get that for Cleverley? or is it based on performances, age and other shit? So we can still get a fair whack for De Gea next summer or what?

Sort me out.

I think it's only if they're under 24, so it rules Cleverley out. Not sure how they work out how much they need to pay though.

smh also rules out De Gea. That Mendes sure is a shrewd bastard, who clearly hates United. BASTARD, damn you being half decent at your gig.

It's only between English clubs that there is a tribunal fee too. Hence why Sociedad want Ings. Completely free to them.

Can see him doing well at Spurs - if Kane stays. They'd be a good pairing and it'd help the national side, but I don't think he could replace Kane should he move on.

This makes no sense, why would it matter to Ings if Burnley get £12 million? If he wants the move he'll end up there anyway.
Maybe he's a person who'd like to show some gratitude and loyalty to a club that's been important and formative to him?

When they calculate tribunal fees do they take previous bids into account? Or is it calculates entirely on some other basis?

Surely spurs are paying Ings 12 million to come to them and not paying Burnley 12 million. that would make more sense. Still rediculous but atleast there is logic there. What exactly does paying Burnley 12 million accomplish

I still have no idea what type of player he is.

Pochettino doesn't play two up front though does he?

Any of these moves are better than playing for Burnley in the Championship.
But I reckon his autobiography will end up being called, This Season's Ricky Lambert.

Think Austin is the better player.

Potentially which ever one Spurs sign Liverpool may sign the other. Think its a bold move from Spurs putting the bid in earlier, but definitely shows willing which will please the player and obviously gives them a month to sort prior to him speaking to other clubs.

at least Ings is younger. Lambert never made any sense - typical Liverpool.

@Dirty Schwein I personally rate Charlie Austin the higher of the two. Don't think either are good enough for United however.

They seem like those players that do really well one year, then their fantasy league value goes to £8m and they do feck all the following season.

Austin actually has a better scoring record and he's only 2 years older than Ings at 25. I'd take him if Hernandez leaves this summer.
IIRC Ings played well at OT, I remember him dropping deep and dictating play quite a bit. I've started following him since then.

So Spurs have offered £12 million in the hope that Ings is emotionally attached to Burnley enough to potentially take their deal ahead of better offers?
Or Ings will only go if Burnley gets a decent compensation. I'm not a mind reader, point is that it's easy to make sense of Ings wanting Burnley to get more than just the tribunal, whether or not it's the case is a different issue.

Weren't Burnley the ones who denied Ings the move to Liverpool in January, citing money is not a priority keeping Ings for another 6 months was?

Can't have your cake and eat it, took a gamble and lost. Time for Ings to look out for his career now. Not that I think he'll definitely go to Liverpool, just my opinion on his state of mind regarding Burnley.

Are Burnley really due anywhere near £5 million in compensation? I didn't realize Ings didn't join them until he was 19 and had already played over 50 senior games and scored 15 goals. So the £5 million figure is surely just a media guess and they'e based it on past tribunal figures which aren't relevant in this case. Burnley paid a fee for him and he never came through their academy. It's a similar situation to if we let Phil Jones contract run down. We bought him at 19, having played 50 senior games. We'd be entitled to a very small compensation and the media probably wouldn't even be aware of it. But for some reason, in Ings case, they seem to think Burnley are entitled to a compensation fee similar to when clubs lose academy products for free, when it's simply not true. The compensation for Ings will be minimal.

Who is more highly rated here... Ings or Austin?
Ings might have the potential to play up, depending on his next manager and how he develops. Austin is probably going to have a decent PL career without ever getting near a top 4 side.

They're both not good enough for a top four team. Austin is the next Darren Bent and Ings is the next Steven Fletcher.

Agreed on Austin but I don't see Ings and Fletcher as similar. The former is more clever and mobile and the latter more dominant in the air. I'd say Ings is more of a poor man's Wayne Rooney. Not sure who that fits in terms of regrettable big-money mid-table buys.
