You lot are crazy, first of all you dont want Van Der Vaart and now you don't want De Rossi...

i'm a huge Fletcher fan but seriously De Rossi is at that next level that i dont think Darren will ever reach.

They are different kind of players, I think Fletcher offers something that De Rossi doesn't have.

I don't think he will ever leave Roma, he's like a second Totti for them.

A Scottish accent but that's about it. De Rossi and Cambiasso are the two best players who work their asses off in CM, good at defense but also offer something going forward. He's been known to score one or two goals outside the box per season.

Would definitely not mind him here, always rated him highly. Him and Fletcher in midfield in Europe. Very good combo.
Him and Chiellini are the two Italians who could do good here and improve our team.

That being said, I'm also very sceptical that this deal would happen.

Manchester United Plan £33.6m Cash Plus Player Offer for Italian International Midfielder | CaughtOffside
Manchester United will make a significant summer bid for Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to add some steel to his Old Trafford midfield. The Old Trafford boss has long been an admirer of the Italian international and may offer the Serie A side a player in part exchange in their efforts to persuade the Stadio Olimpico side to sell.

One club man De Rossi is now in his tenth season at his home-town club and is yet to secure significant silverware and has strongly been linked with a move away from the Giallorossi this summer. The box to box midfielder has five domestic title runner up medals and is thought to be ready to move to a club that can offer him the chance of major honours but would be against seeking a move to another Italian side and has therefore been linked with moves abroad.

Jose Mourinho is also courting the central midfielder and now Sir Alex Ferguson is planning a summer move as he looks to bring in a strong tackler, something he could need all the more due to the prolonged injury concerns over Owen Hargreaves.

The Premier League table toppers are ready to break the club’s transfer record to land the 27 year old and could offer up to £33.6m (€40m), which is apparently the valuation the Roma side has placed on one of their prized assets as they seek to resolve their financial problems.

Ferguson is also ready to offer the likes of Federico Macheda or Anderson in part exchange for man capped 63 times by Italy
.

Bull shit story in my opinion. He is Roma through and through, just like Totti. He will never leave Rome. He and Totti are to Roma what Giggs and Scholes are to United. He is a terrific defensive midfielder though and would love to see him here any day.

We've supposedly been after him for the past 23 years. I don't think we are going to sign him...not sure why there are continually stories about it.

If its BS, then why post something from a crap website, and in the process unnecessarily bump an old thread.

these two threads need to be merged.

So in CM, we're now being linked with the high-profile signings of Modric, De Rossi and Benega.

If it takes berba to get him, de Rossi can stay far far away
Do Not Want.

That said, caughtoffside is a joke of a website and berba is going to sign an extension in the near future.

He's exactly the type of player we need for that holding role in midfield. Experience, energy, aggression, balls (especially this, its what our midfield has been lacking, besides a creative force of course).

Cue said player moving to another club.

Seems Roma are in trouble and he hasn't yet signed a new deal. He's therefore an asset they may want to sell if they get a decent offer. He very well might be looking at Totti and his lack of medals and thinking he needs to move on.

He'll not be short of options if he decides to go. Very good player.

This is as nailed on to happen as can be. He wont be coming to Utd thats for sure and any speculation linking him with us is his agents way of trying to get a better deal for him at Madrid.

Why?

He's going to go there and play alongside Khedira, and Alonso, and Ozil and Diarra and whoever else?

Madrid wouldn't let Mourinho buy a forward in January even though they were desperate. Any money they have will be spent on a striker.

I'd say he's more likely to stay in Italy than anything else. Milan will be rebuilding this year and he could be just the sort of player they need.

Take your red tinted specs off for just a second and think about it. This year has seen the emergence of Welbeck and Hernadez. The latter showing that he's already good enough to be first choice at Manchester united, whilst the former showing that he can improve at a huge rate when given proper playing time. Put it this way, Welbeck will not come back to United to be fourth choice, look at just how little playing time both Owen and Macheda have got when they've been the fourth striker. Do you really think that given how he's developing Welbeck would/should come back and risk being fourth choice?

Next, look at our midfield, what it lacks is someone with some steel, someone who'll add some much needed leadership, with Hargreaves being Hargreaves and Carrick not being that type of player, someone like De Rossi is just what we need. Not to mention that he's a class above all our central midfielders bar Scholes, when you then factor in that he'd cost less than what we paid for Carrick, Anderson and Hargreaves, you'd be mad to turn down that deal, players like him rarely become available let alone for such a fair price.

That article is no doubt made up but you could see the logic in United going for such a deal.
