He is, but he''ll sign a new one, surely

Depends on the money offered i suppose, if he thinks he can get one last big payday somewhere else because he is leaving on a free, i wouldn't rule out a move for him.

Could be a very good player for someone. If he were to leave on a free i for one would be delighted if he was to come to OT for a couple of seasons.

Doubt it. De Rossi is like Totti, they are Romans through and through. He doesn't play for money but pride. If he wanted more money, he'd of left years ago when Roma began falling down as a club.

I expect him to stay as well.

He'd be a great addition, but with Scholes back on the wage bill, not sure we'll bother.

Scholesy is just a temporary addition though. We could do with him but as Solius said, expect him to sign for City.

Mercenary, Italian, probably wants inflated wages......has got City written all over him.

To me that makes 99% of top footballers mercenaries

Well at least those who make massively inflated wages at Man City. The broader point is that while he's a well known player in transfer muppet circles, he doesn't fit our pattern of recent transfers. We should be after younger, less wage siphoning players who want long term (5 years or more) careers at United.

He's one of them players that the muppets and the caf rated highly, only for him to never amount to much. He's very hit and miss and has been shown up a few times I've seen him play. He was awful against us when we destroyed them.

Agreed.

Agreed, someone like Rav....oh......:(

Says who? I can't imagine Scholes missing playing football will be quelled by playing for simply a further 5 months. I'm currently fully expecting Scholes to be part of the playing squad next season.

That's how I see it too.

The Caf has had a running obsession with De Rossi, it's sorta like an Italian wondering if they'll ever sign Giggs.

Of course now that I said that he'll end up at City or some such.

Yes, I know, but if he does indeed wind up at City, he will be one.

 Can we stop with this shite now please?

They're top of the league, look to be building a quality squad, and yet he'd just be a mercenary for wanting to join them?

Yeah, I get it, they're our rivals. They won the lottery. Doesn't make any class player that now wants to join them, a mercenary.

This will be De Rossi's last big pay check, I think he'll walk in the summer.

City, Bayern, Real all more than possible destinations

Then you are setting yourself up for disappointment. He can't play a full season at the PL level anymore we saw as much last year. He'll finish at the end of the season for good. Giggs to it seems.

Giggs is currently negotiating a new contract

Like I said it was Scholes decision to retire and it was his decision to return. I cant see him being satisfied with simply 5 more months unless of course he realises come May that he cant play any longer which it certainly isn't looking like at the moment

De Rossi is anything but a mercenary. I can understand him wanting one last payday before he retires and you shouldnt criticise him for that - he has been a loyal servant for Roma his entire career.

I see, so us destroying his team in a game he scored against us and was one of the few Roma player who escaped the game with some respect means he is rubbish? right....

Anyone calling De Rossi mercenary is clueless to say the least. Roma players had been playing in a club on the brink of bankrupcy for years. Each time they were promised a way out of it, new players that will strengthen the team and make their side great again. Guess what they got? The team kept on losing prestigeous pieces to rivals (the latter was Vucinic who joined Roma) and their side is being led by a kid whose only aim is to be able to one day replace Guardiola at Barca. There were times were even Totti wanted to leave but sticked to his guns because Rome (the city) is his home and his wife is doing good money there too. De Rossi has nothing to keep him there.

If a player stick to a small club then he's got no ambition, if he leaves then he's a mercenary. You can't win these days

Atleast watched him for 10-12 matches, and have never seen anything in him to match the hype which has been given to him everytime.

He's a solid competitive midfielder. If you was expecting magic you should have done your research...

He is no doubt one of the best in his department.

The goal he scored in the 7-1 was one of the finest pieces of technique I've seen, sublime finish on the half volley wasn't it?

Incredible. Not a reason to sign him, but still, a worthy talking point.

Bizarre post.

How many of the quality players they've bought since Tevez would've gone to Man City on normal wages before the Abu Dhabi prince bought them ? If you think the likes of Tevez, Silva, Adebayor, Nasri, Dzeko, Balotelli, Aguero, Clichy, and Toure (both of them) would've gone to City before they got rich then we can agree to disagree. These players joined a distinctly unsuccessful club and are playing for inflated wages that they almost certainly wouldn't be earning elsewhere. But ok, they're not mercenaries.

No point talking about what would be a sought after player in a market where we cant compete is there? Besides I say he stays in Italy!

I agree, can see him at AC Milan or Inter.

Disagree. The reality is City are the highest salary payers, and as such are able to offer potential trophies, but it's the wages that are key to any player signing for City. There's a reason none of these players wanted to join City before they got bought.
