Daniele De Rossi

I don't see him leaving. He's a Roman, he's just using the Sergio Ramos tactic when everyone knows he has no intention of leaving and he eventually gets his deal.

That's the one! He's not exactly the first person to call Ronaldo big-headed.

However unlikely, this guy would be my first choice midfielder this summer.

There again, I am one of those fools that still believes we will yet see two midfield signings soon, despite SAF/Gill's words to the contrary.

I remain hopeful that Nasri will sign in the new year for the following season and this summer we will see that Dutch bloke that I am still unsure about.

I think we will get at least one world class signing in midfield.

Latest News is Nasri has chosen City, if we are to believe this.

For 230K a week, they can have him.

The 150K we allegedly offered is the right price for him.

That said, I don't give that article too much credence.

We need a midfield general and a playmaker. Our current crop of central midfielders don't fall into either category..... in my often controversial opinion.

It wouldn't. De Rossi is way more attacking compared to Carrick. Carrick's role would not be affected in any way.

Agreed Chief. Although they are similar players, De Rossi is more comfortable moving forward with the ball. In a way De Rossi is the type of player Carrick should be if he were to finally grow a set and start imposing himself on the opposition more.

The irony is if Carrick stepped up, we could probably do without De Rossi, as i believe Carrick is perfectly capable of doing almost everything De Rossi can do if only he showed more desire to be the main man.

Unfortunately Carrick seems quite content to play the trusty sidekick, rather than shouldering the added responsibility of becoming the general we require. Regardless De Rossi would be a great addition to our team and i would feel much more confident with our midfield options if we signed someone like De Rossi or Banega or even Parker for that bit of extra steel and bite.

His 30 now. He's not stepping up.. His character on the field just isn't to be an imposing player. Not really a problem just means we require it from someone else.

If De Rossi is available then I hope that United step up for him. He's one of the best defensive midfielders around.

We should have tried to get him three to four years ago. He has not been at his best for the past two seasons. I don't know if a change of scenery would help him but I think his best years are behind him.

In the past 2 years the entire Roma team had gone to the dogs. The society has been at the brink of bankrupcy throughout the entire time and if the banks didn't stepped in they wouldn't have had the money to pay the salaries.

He'll be 29 by the start of next season. That ship sailed several years ago unless Ferguson has a Wengerish change in his transfer philosophy.

I don't think we will sign a midfielder in the next few years and if we do, it will be someone young like Rodwell or Barkley. We have Pogba, Morrison and Tunniclife coming through, Anderson and Cleverley both have at least 10 years left in them, Fletcher should be able to hold his place for 5 more years with ease, Carrick will play for two or three more seasons too. Giggs will probably retire at the end of season but we could well replace him by playing Park in the middle or promoting one of the youngsters.

Sod him, once all our defenders are fit, I want to see Jones in a midfield role.

I wouldn't have minded a player like this fella in midfield yesterday to show Davies not to feck with United players. If we had Keane or Robson in that team, Davies would have got flattened.

Although we did win 5-0 but would have loved to see that cnut get broke after that challenge on Evra.

This. Jones looks like a good bruiser in the midfield who can dribble and pass. Haven't seen much of his long distance shooting, but he could be the (not as injury prone) next Hargreaves.
