Lingard scored 11 goals in 47 championship appearances. He must have been miserable for most of those games

Sounds to me like Swansea are pushing this link to try and get a sale this summer before his contract runs out. Would make sense given several united journalists said no real move being made for him at the moment.

We did it in the past, got players from what would now be considered, were considered then as well, unfashionable clubs. Sometimes you have to take a risk. It isn't exactly a lot of money. Maybe the club are just going down a different route of not being fooled into buying over priced has beens.

What Southampton’s best players who we were also previously linked with. Have we been signing players from Real Madrid or something? I must have missed that. Didn’t Lee Grant come from Stoke? Fred from Shaktar and Dalot from Porto? These clubs fashionable?

Yeah, where the player comes from shouldn't matter. So many good players come from smaller clubs. Not saying Daniel James is as I have no idea how good he is, but player should be rated on his performance/potential rather than what club he is playing for.
