Dani Olmo

You think Olmo wouldnt go there without a clause to leave for free?

I bet most of our players would love to go there with no clause.
In that case I hope they have good agents who think about these things. And yes I think it's quite reasonable to contractually demand the club you sign for to actually register you for the playing squad. That's not a high demand, especially not in case of a club that is notorious for having problems in this regard.

Have you ever heard of a loan?
A loan takes control from the player. This alleged clause gives him full control and is by far the smarter option for him.

It would be incredibly funny, but I just cannot see Barca not being able to register him. They will sell something or someone to keep him.

If I understand the situation correctly then he can't play in La Liga for the remainder of the season, this is assuming he decides to stay at Barca and not signing elsewhere?

I'm assuming that being an academy graduate and spanish international he'd want to stay but I'm sure he'd rather play than sit in the stand for 6 months, either way we should be exploring him as a signing if only for 6 months. Would be excellent in Amorim's 10 role.

Yes you should sign thinking they will register you, but its a complete daydream to believe that Olmo wont play for 6 months for any reason other than injury or suspension. At worst, if they cant register him he would have lots of suitors on loan. Would it be as good a club as he was leaving in Leipzig? Maybe not. But there is no chance he wasnt going to play football. None.

Assume for a moment that it's your employer who massively fecked up and has you just sitting around, not doing anything. Do you want this employer involved in your search for your next employer?

Me personally? I wouldnt sign a contract for a team thinking that they might not register me.

A cheeky loan in January? He can’t play for Barca can he for the rest of the season?

How funny are Barcelona. are there people on here who say they are doing just fine?

Nailed on for City if he leaves Barcelona. He's exactly the profile of player they sign, and exactly the profile of player we don't sign.

Since they're all Barsa people there they might help with parking Olmo until Barsa sorts out it's financial problems

Imagine paying 60m for a player and losing him for free 5 months later. There’s no chance it will go down like that. It’s even in bad taste and I suspect in the interest of business relations, no big club will want to do that to Barcelona.

I don't know why these kind of things make the headlines anytime Barca is struggling to register a player. We've been here many times before and they find a way to register the player ultimately.

Seems weird that they somehow can’t register him but are deep in talks to bring in Tah and a few others. How does it even make sense. There is also no way surely that a 50 million asset that they just bought can just walk out for nothing surely.

Is he often injured? I cant keep up on which targets have injury concerns

If this happens it would be completely self inflicted and technically a club signing Olmo on a free would do nothing to Barca, they wouldn't have to deal with Barca at all. So there would be no reason to take Barca's feeling in consideration.

He looks class every time i see him including the recent Euro but apparently he's had a few injuries lately

We're desperate for that creative spark, someone who could carry the ball he could be an incredible signing if he was to stay fit

This. Tebas just became a vicepresident in the Spanish FF and will absolutely move heaven and earth to let them register the player. Wouldn't put it past Barsa to break someones legs to get the long term injury exception again.

What is his character like? Would he theoretically, if it came to it, sign a 6-month contract with somebody to keep playing and on a gentleman's agreement return to Barce in the summer?

Or would he be more likely to wash his hands of it and just go and sign a 3-4 year contract somewhere.

No club will want to pick up a player who's contract was terminated as Barca are a terribly run club? Of course someone will sign him, he won't be a Barca player, so how can they get the arse about it?

Bad taste would be signing players when you're in financial shit and unable to register them

But he will be released on a free due to their own incompetence.
If anything, it should be seen as helping them to realize their faults and to change their ways for the better.
Like helping a friend kick a bad habit.

I feel like he’d have a similar trajectory to Bruno. He’d come in and be super productive in the short term, our fans will say he’s world class. Long term he’ll continue to produce goals and assists but inevitably the downsides to his game will get a lot of focus.

Sooner or later, we’ll have polemics on here about how he’s the main problem that is being ignored because of a few goals and assists

Why would that affect teams doing business with them? The selling club gets their money no matter what so why would the selling club care about the buying club or the player they sold after they sell them?

He means no club would want to burn bridges with Barca by taking a 60m signing for free.

I'd respect any team who did it personally. Barca are horrible cheats and it'd be hilarious to see this happen to them.

But this is Barcas mistake. They are signing players they can’t register. How does it burn a bridge with them if I sign a player they can’t register?

Was Christensen last time, wonder who they'll sacrifice on this occasion

The injuries are his biggest issue, whether at Leipzig or at Barcelona. He's a wonderful player, with an unreal (almost Iniesta-like) touch and dribbling ability, who plays some high-risk high-reward passes in the final third but he really would not spend a lot of time fully fit. He's not going anywhere so this entire discussion is pointless but IF he did move on a free, its not a risky signing at all. If any club can find a way to manage his fitness issues, they've got a gem of a player.
