Dani Olmo

I don’t watch a lot of Barca recently but he seemed class at the Euro. IMO he was the unsung hero of the Spanish campaign. Definitely Motm for me in the match against Germany (who I think were their most difficult opponent).
This.Have admired him for years now based on his International form.Top player.

Would a loan be possible? Having a look at him for half a season instead of committing to a long contract might be a more sensible approach.

Wouldn't go near him.
The club needs players readily available, even if those players may have half the ability.

Free attacking player in Jan and people are saying no. Him and Oshihmen and Jonathan David please. Get them all in. I'd like to see us score goals before I die

We have been barking out for someone who is injury free, has rapid pace, is very athletic, is strong on the ball. So why are we going for Olmo? For the stage that Manchester United are at as a club, this makes 0 sense for us. Who is this guy going to compliment even if hes injury free? Who is going to compliment him?

We really need players who are capable of fighting for their lives on the pitch. Players who will get us between 4th and 6th place by putting bodies on the line. By doing everything to win that 2nd ball. By not getting pushed off the ball. We need determination and grit as well as decent technique.

Thats where we are as a club. Many players like Olmo have come and gone in the past 10 years, and we've benefitted 0.

Would his heart be in it, if it's just a loan until he's able to return to Barca?

we should be going for players we have identified as targets, not just whoever happens to be available randomly on a free

You mean like, we should have an actual plan and stick to it?

Now wouldn't that be an interesting change of direction for us

Decisions like that would explain how they have so many problems with finances. Why would you sign a player for 55 million euros and include such a clause?
I think it works the other way round. Barca's financial troubles are well known. So I believe players have a high interest to get these guarantees to get out if things don't work out there. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. And I can absolutely believe that Barca doesn't get so sign any players without this kind of clause any more.

In what, the summer egg and spoon race?
They'd be an excellent side though. Osimhen could attach the spoon to his mask quite easily while Ugarte threatens to hack down the Liverpool contestant. A hobbling Olmo warns "he bloody means it" as the midfielder and left back play the role of parental encouragement.

Why are we talking about loans? He will literally be free from his Barca contract to do as he wishes.
Didn't realize he had the clause. But yeah on a free or a loan, either way works for us. Rashford out, Olmo in would do a lot for us this season... If he could stay fit. On a free it's worth it.

Guy who just got bought for 50m on a free a few months later. Worst case scenario he's injured for a few years and sits out a contract, making him the 30th worst flop in post-SAF era. Slightly better scenario is that he's injured a lot and me manage to offload him for a profit.

It's shitty for Olmo to have to move but I can imagine he'll have many suitors to choose a nice signing on bonus from. I'd be surprised if a club didn't try their luck with him. We probably will but we're so shit and not in the CL that we're not on his radar so it's not a signing we need to think about.

I don't think he's that good and the Euros over inflated the perception of him. I'm not sure about his injury record but all that said, he's the profile of player that would fit Amorim's system perfectly.

You think Olmo wouldnt go there without a clause to leave for free?

I bet most of our players would love to go there with no clause.

You think he'd go there with a risk that he couldn't play football for 6 months, without a get out clause?

We’ll probably pay £60m for him on 300k a week and then scratch our heads when he’s available for 14 games across his 4 year contract and spend the last 6 months putting red x’s on a calender counting down the days til we can sigh in relief on July 1st.
