Dani Alves

Ballache, you're the man in the know when it comes to German football.

What's the latest with Lahm, I read that he was going to sign a new contract?

we wont get a new RB. Brown has signed, Neville will be back next season and we have the twins coming for the future, sorted

Overrated and overpriced.

Would much prefer Lahm as a potential RB.

If we got Lahm would anyone have a problem with having two midgets ( Lahm and Evra) as part of the back four? Wouldn't we be more susceptible at set pieces and give away a crucial advantage? From what i've seen i'd take Bosingwa over Lahm and Dani Alves anyway.

Agreed. It would mean a good balance at the back. Two Evras? Sounds fantastic at first but could well leave us very unsecure defensively.

Ideally, I think we need a right back who is tall and strong. We have a short side, and defending corners we only have Rio and Vidic who look particularly strong. Having Brown there this season is a huge bonus. Not sure how many suitable options are out there though.

I think the "Two Evra's" comment with regards to Alves is bullshit anyway. Lahm would be a second Evra, Alves would be a 3rd winger from a slightly deeper position.

Dani Alvez has absolutely everything to be considered a world class creative midfield player, most likely on the right side.

He has a fantastic longshot and freekick, his creative passing and crosses lead to goals too.

But he's not a good defender - Not even compared to Lahm and Evra, who arent amazing defensively either - but they can put their foot in, they can be solid positionally and they can slide tackle.

As I said before, if we signed Alves we'd have to teach him to defend... So why not sign Ashley Young and teach him to defend? Oh well, I'm sure we wont sign him and if we did, we'd play him in midfield.

Fabio is the only one that really stands out so far though. But he does have a certain quality that could see him fast tracked through the teams... He's pretty fantastic in the air, offensively, and I'm sure he'll use his ability well defensively too.

besides he not really the type of player we'd go for anyway. He seems like he needs the team to accomodate him so cover when he decides to play up front etc.

Why ALves...........
Lets go and buy Ramos...
He is definitely the BEST right back right now..
Good going forward... very good defender..better than cannavarro at the centre

He's a class right-back too, no point in saying that he's bad one just because he's good at going forward. He's still a very good defender.

No, he's not. His tackling is absolutely daft. Shocking to see the all the whoop over him. Shite defender. End of.

I remember the time Ramos was as leaky as oil. He WAS a shit CB in his early twenties and he's best position is RB. He started RB at Sevilla and was bought as RB buy Real to be Salgado's replacement. Still remember the own goals he scored. But hey did you see Alves's OG. It was like he intended to do that. Headed like Toni

More about Alves.

MANCHESTER UNITED will bid £30million for Seville stars Luis Fabiano and Dani Alves this week.

Boss Alex Ferguson is wasting no time in strengthening his squad for next season and expects to strike a deal for the Brazilians.

SunSport can reveal United chief scout Martin Ferguson has watched the pair 10 TIMES in the last three months.

Alves, 25, is seen as the long-term replacement at right-back for Gary Neville while Fabiano, 27, will add presence and goals to the attack.

The hitman, who has netted 33 times in 38 games this season, is only part-owned by the club — 65 per cent of his registration is owned by a private investment group similar to the Carlos Tevez situation last season.

Both players are regular starters for Brazil and Alves is regarded as the best attacking right-back in the world.

Fergie’s first choice was Porto’s Jose Bosingwa but he got beaten to the Portugal player’s signature by Chelsea on Monday.

Alves was a Blues target last summer but they refused to pay his £24m tag.

Fabiano is more believable than Alves.

Alves' defending is good.... but it's not United quality. It's his attacking that is United quality.... which is unfortunate, because SAF is in the market for a RB.

So our first choice target for right back is worth £15m but our second choice is valued around £24m?

Luis Fabino would bring something extra to our attack and I would instantly begin my summer wanking fest if we signed him

and why not?

Come on mate you know it. First we dont need it as we have plenty of players that can play there and most of all Neville is still here. Second all the rumours talk about us spending more than 15 millions on supposed targets if you have seen (Bosignwa 15 m, Alves 25 m, etc.) and we wont be spending such money if we have a lot of players available on that position.

Lahm looks like the candidate in both football and monetary sense.

But isn't Fabiano a hot-headed dude and will he disrupt the dressing room?

No one knows for sure whether or not Nev will really be up to it, especially for an entire season next year.... of course Brown and Hargraves can play there but they are, by no means, long term solutions.

United could REALLY benefit from having a RB that offers an attacking option (similar to Evra) on the right. Brown sure doesn't offer much of an attacking option and Hargraves will more than likely see more time in the midfield, which is where he should be playing anyways.

Just what we need.

I say forget the money, two evra's are better than one.

You'd expect them to cost the same though wouldn't you? Evra cost what 5-6 mill?

WTF is with the inflated prices at the moment?

Anybody who has watched Fabiano before this season knows he is not united quality.

so players can't/don't improve? he and kanoute have been awesome for sevilla. would be happy with either of them. would be cheaper than the strikers we're linked with and wouldn't throw a fit if not playing every week.

anyway, if we do get fabiano and dani alves, we'd have a grip of portuguese-speakers when you add ronaldo, nani, and anderson to the mix!

Yeah they can but i just remember when he was at Porto and how poorly he played. I think it is more his attitude which turned me off him as a player. I also remember the way he reacted in the past when he was not playing much so i dont agree with the wouldnt throw a fit part.

Apparently Alves is meeting with 2 "huge" European clubs this week.

With Chelsea having signed Bosingwa, I doubt they are one of them.

It has to be Micah Richards. He's good in the air and we would have another Vidic on attacking or defensive corners. Not to mention they lad's physically strong and built like a brick shit house. He is also more than capable of marking strikers like Drogba who himself is incredibly strong on his feet.
Micah at right back. Evra at left back. The perfect combination of attack and defence.
A gung-ho attacking United with Alves at right back bombing forward will leave Vidic and Rio exposed. There's a reason to why Wes Brown at right back proved so effective for us this season.

Yeah richards is alot bigger alves is only 5 ft 7''. but richards would cost 20m+ think its too much money.

I genuinely think if Richards is into it we must try and get him. Long term replacment for Rio, the way he marshalled Rooney and Tevez in the Derbies, was very impressive. They never looked like getting by him once.

Richards a replacement for Rio?
Rio has another 5 years of great football to play for us easy, and Micah is a right back, not a centre back.

Get a clue.

Richards is a CB who can occasionally play at right back. Not the other way around.

Having said that, why the feck would we need to buy a Rio replacement?

Retarded.

Why don't you get a clue?

"Richards can play in defence or in central midfield, but has become known as a right back who is useful for a goal threat at set-pieces."

Wikipedia. ;)
