its not ignorant at all. There are great dutch footballer and some of them won this trophy. But some players, who won it, wouldnt even be able to start for any EPL team at all. So in which world is this a sign of quality? I dont say that you are automatically shit, but that its irrelevant.

Again, I dont think we should buy any player who is only eventually slightly better than the likes of young. Yes he is versatile, but eventually not good enough to play any of those positions on a high level. I think he´ll fail dramatically as wing back because he wont be able to cope with the speed of the EPL. He´ll do okay in midfield, because he is a decent player in this area, but in this area we already have enough "decent players".
If van gaal thinks that he needs more quality on this postion, he should sign someone who has the ambition to be a starter for the next 4-5 years and if he just needs cover, he should use some of the deadwood. Blind is the deadwood of tomorrow.

There we go lads. He hasn't signed yet but he's the deadwood of tommorow.

Blind is intelligent enough and he knows how to play real football, that's the upside. We can really use someone like that in our midfield, plus he´s a very decent LB cover. We've got him at a decent price too.

Downside is that he's not exactly on Modric´ level, LvG obviously knows this and has already said he'd rather have players like Messi and Vidal. Still, I don't really see how Blind is going to help us dominate games against City with Yaya Touré or Chelsea with Fabregas. But then again LvG also knows Blind will not be a gamechanger

 Clearly he's going to be third choice for most positions, and not complain about being that, but he's deadwood. You can't even make this shit up.

There is no doubt that great talent come from that league. I really think Memphis Depay is going to be a star eventually. But, it is a league where top talents leave as soon as possible.

Of course, but at the same time Blind's stock has only recently become high so in a sense he is leaving as soon as he's become a (not quite) top talent. He played all of last season in midfield, a new position essentially, and then 'starred' at the world cup.

Look I'm not a big fan of him either, but right now, Fletcher is an important squad player. Important enough for him to have started the last 2 games. Maybe he should only become a squad player, but even our squad players at the moment aren't at the level that United squad players should be in CM. Get him now, hope for Carrick to have something left in the tank, and then in January get Strootman and suddenly our CM situation is quite strong.

Apologies if this has been posted already. It's a compilation of his performance against PSV last season and it gives you an idea of how he solves the #6 role. He definitely seems to have the technical and tactical ability for it.

Looks decent. Neat and tidy and positions himself very well, defensively.

He'll also give the "he only passes backwards/sideways" crew something to keep moaning about now Cleverley is gone. Which is a bonus.

A bit harsh, the guy hasn't even played a single game for us or actually signed!

At the end of the day you have to ask yourself: Will he improve the squad? If you answer with a yes in any form who cares if hes not world class, any improvement is still an improvement. I point you to Cabaye who last season went to PSG for around £17m, the same time we went for Mata. Its clear who was the big name signing and who was a signing we actually needed (even if he wasnt exactly world class). We need to get over ourselves and stop saying "if hes not the best in this position hes not good enough for us" because there are plenty of players out there that aren't world class but would improve our team and Blind is one of them.

Finally, is he a better option than Cleverly/Fellaini/Fletcher/Young? If so why the hell are we complaining?!

But why wait till January? Get someone like Carvalho or Vidal now. We need CM to be sorted asap.

Jesus the poor lad isn't even here yet and already labelling him as 'dead wood'! LVG knows what he's doing. Would you rather him sign Vidal? It's obvious that Juve have been trying their hardest to get rid all summer, ask yourselves why are a team desperately trying to get rid of their best player? Maybe his injury is more serious long term.

Some of our fans are such spoilt brats. He hasn't even signed for us yet and he's already been written off. Give him a chance at least.

He'll be one of the most important signings we make this summer if it goes through. When you're playing Young LB and Cleverly or Anderson you know you need any bloody alternative.

We've been risk seeking for a couple of seasons now not having backup to Carrick. We fall to peices without him and yet put off midfield signings as there wasn't the value in the market for top quality.

He seems pretty clever with tactical fouls and can handle himself physically from what i remember of him at the WC and few CL games. According to a Milan fan had bit of a feisty battle and duel with Balotelli in their encounter too.

I think that's a important quality we could use in midfield as well.

I think it's fair to say he's not going to win the ballon d'or, but hopefully he will be a reliable squad player who can play 3 different positions, the modern O'shea perhaps.

From all reports he's a hard working proffesional lad, and if LVG rates him then lets see what he has. Sure he's not the sexy choice like Carvalho or Vidal, but this won't be the first time we haven't got first choice.

So he's our answer to the long overdue midfield problem. Let's hope so.

I've never been hugely impressed by him, but he'll certainly be more defensively solid than most of our current crop.

When we actually do sign him I will give him a chance. But, right now since he is still a potential signing just giving my opinion same thing anyone else does on the transfer forum.

Can't say I'm excited by this but I think £14m is a fair price and he could well prove to be an important player for us.
