Daley Blind - Deal Confirmed

Well he's not a number 9 so that shirt is still mysteriously vacant. I think we've got a surprise lined up still

But why wait till January? Get someone like Carvalho or Vidal now. We need CM to be sorted asap.

Vidal has a knee issue, otherwise the deal would've been done. Carvalho seemingly isn't simply that highly rated by LvG.

Finding quality CM this late is tough, that's why I'd rather have De Jong as a specialist. Believe me I would've loved it if we got another class CM, but atleast he'll be a a good squad player.

Ah the 'football intelligence' quality.

Its the 'she has a great personality' of the football world

Shouldn't pass this off as fact.

Blind was a player we all expected, but i don't know whether i'd be pleased if he was our only remaining signing for the midfield. Mainly because i haven't seen him enough. I guess i expected us to sign someone renowned enough to know just what we were getting. Naivety on my part however, and of course no bearing on quality. Good luck Daley!

Meh signing. Quite clearly a backup option as we've failed as per usual to land a top level CM. It goes on and on and on.

De Jong's the much better midfielder from what I've seen (admittedly not a lot) of Daley Blind. But I guess they both would've cost the same if you factor in salaries and Blind would probably have a higher sell on value.

Blind is a Late Bloomer hence underrated a fair bit right now. He was bit of a liability just at 21 and never considered to be a star from what i gather. To turn around that reputation when you aren't a spectacular player will take a few years.

I agree with those that say that he isn't the solution to our midfield problems and has limited ceiling but he is quite tactically astute and has good technical qualities as well. Lacks in some areas which is limiting but right now he'd be first choice behind Carrick for that role.

Looks like the usual bunch are discovering a new scapegoat. He's already 'deadwood'.

Happy with that, neat and tidy ball player, great take down and shot into the top corner in the WC, showed lovely technique which you would expect coming from the Ajax school, also looks like he has a bit of graft in him so a very welcome addition, in a couple of games from now we start with Blind, Herrera, Di Maria, Shaw I will definitely be very excited to see it.

Seems like we weren't able to get our top targets so we've gone for this lad as a stop-gap until better players become available. He is a short-term solution for problem positions with a long-term aim of being a squad player. He is more the type of signing we would expect to make once we have a solid starting 11 and are back in the champions league. Either way, he'll be a decent addition and might save us a goal every now and again - something we desperately need.

Yes, we've overpaid. However, if he turns into a squad player for the next 8 years, it will be money well spent.
