Daily Mail

pete is still a proper leftie, most of us are capitalist sell-outs of one sort or another.

That's absolutely right, though it has got a bit better over the years, people really used to get into describing their torture fantasies, with balls being torn off and bleach poured in eyes and stuff.

I think the Caf has got more liberal, especially on sexism and homophobia. We used to spend the whole time calling each other benders and gay and shit in a 'banterish' (cnutish) way, not many do now... I guess we grew up a bit along with the culture.

Or rather, now the banter has moved on from sexual orientation to picking on the handicapped.

 so true.

Well, it has changed to be fair... We've got a whole topic dedicated to healthy eating and keeping fit, and plenty of other threads on the arts.. And only the other day, Aidan told us that he loves juxtaposition in architecture... What has become of this place? And I don't like contemporary dance, that was just a weak moment...

Yeah, I know, it's a great thing, and it also reflects the cosmopolitan nature of this place. I mean, there's no chance Red Issue'd be discussing Brothers Karamazov in depth, for example or debating whether Wild Strawberries was Bergman's best. That said there's probably a discussion on ghost dogs, though.

I don't remember joining the Euro ever having been particularly discussed on here? Also, I'm not sure how easily the Europe issue fits on the left-right divide.

Oh sure it has, at least as part of the wider discussion of Britain's place within Europe.

It's not exactly the establishment viewpoint on the Caf to be EUrosceptic.

Now whilst there are significant minorities among the Tories and Labour who run contrary to the general political ideology of their parties on the matter, the majority of Conservatives wish for a diluted relationship with Brussels [at a minimum] and whereas Miliband and co would embrace it further still. Or look at the stances of the columnists at the Telegraph and Guardian for instance.

I'd say that there is a fairly well defined left-right position. So in the specific cse of Europe the left and noticeable number on here have IMO been shown to be just a touch wrong. :)

Although it is a more honest approach than Cameron adopts i suspect. He wants a European Union which doesn't exist at present, and unfortunately lacks the iamginationa nd courage to attempt to bring his vision about.

And what on Earth is 'left wing' about that?

In the UK or England Wales at any rate, it is.

Actually, I'm quite in tune with Norwegian society. Where we have free healthcare, gays can get married, there's no death penalty and you're not allowed to own an automatic rifle. I'm sure you'd find some political party to suit you, though, because we've also got more than two and a half political parties.

 nice.

I bet no other football forum will have strayed (:)) onto the subject of spectral canine chums. I am quietly confident.

That was much worse in the past as well.

We used to draw the line at death threats but now the bar is much higher (or lower depending on your perspective).

I think Spoony killed the "Banter, mate. BANTER!" movement by trying to popularise incest.

Looks like they pulled the article then. (sorry if I missed it).

Brophs, you're a sell out. I'm stuck on my own with Top and Rimaldo in the other place.

I wore bermuda shorts today, Spoons. Only for around eight minutes as it started pissing it down, but still; I'm like a new man.

The music sure changes the tone of the video but you would have to be a colossal spaz to consider the video inappropriate in itself.

I'd wouldn't actually call it NSFW, unless you think that any of the sports in the Olympics are NSFW.

No, it's just I have a female colleague next to me who knowing would not be overly impressed if I am watching slow mos of beach volleyball birds. Am keen to hear the music now though.

In fairness, female athletes have chosen to wear scanty, 'sexualised', outfits.

Agree. I can't see that it's necessary, but hey-ho.

So what about men wearing skin tight clothing such that you can see when they are getting excited?

I would expect that in the majority of cases there are sound scientific reasons for why they are dressed the way they are dressed.

Do you think the way that Moslem woman athlete was covered more or less from head to foot helped her perform to her best abilities?

How incredibly sexist, Lord Jipz. Resign immediately.

Of our 10 strong team there are 5 blokes and 5 women. Can't get fairer than that, er, but the print (me) and online editors are both male:wenger:

:smirk:

I'm sure. Commendable that most male athletes manage to compete without the aerodynamic advantage of paper tissue shorts sticking in the cracks of their buttocks. Well done, guys!

Yeh, I'm sure the IOC make it plain to all the women athletes that unless they dressing in sexy clothes they won't compete.

If they didn't feel comfortable, I'm sure they'd wear something else.
