Or just that the club never intended to sack him this weekend at all.If they really are backtracking then we are in a bigger mess than I initially thought.

Fully agree with you .It's cloud-cuckoo land to believe that Pochettino is going to abandon Spurs mid-season, especially shortly after signing a new, 5 year contract, to take charge of the mess left by Mourinho if he's sacked.
They should just bite the bullet and sack him now.
He's not a long term solution and things seem to be getting worse instead of better. It looks like he has lost most of the dressing room and I can't see that turning around.
What's the point in keeping him on? We couldn't do any worse under a caretaker manager/new manager so why delay the inevitable?
The atmosphere around the team is toxic at the moment and I can't see it improving until Jose is gone.
I only wish Neville had named Woodward.
Didn't say they did. Reread. I'm addressing serial moaners on here. Club is in a lose-lose situation with such peopleI can't imagine the club could care less about what anyone does or does not say on here.
I disagree. We're not in a position to afford throwing away 4 matches. Granted, Jose could get results in those 4, but we can't ignore our lack of form when making the decision either way. I want to say the board aren't that stupid but I don't believe that at this point. A new manager will be given temporary relief in terms of expectations given our current form and position. We'll get hammered in those games, regardless. They are just far better sides and even a new manager bounce won't be enough to get us through unscathed. Not a great start for the new man (whoever he is). Better to let the current guy take the mass criticism and humiliation (if you've already decided he's for the chop anyway).
Who?
Genuinely interested, I'd want the likes of Klopp and Pep over those, but that's never happening.
Why would you want managers who play terrible football. We need a lift, not more boring football.Yeah a few are unrealistic, like Pep, Klopp or Tuchel, but I would prefer Simeone, or Blanc, or Deschamps. Maybe even Conte, though I am not sure he would improve the spirit in the right way.
I just have my doubts about Poch making the step up in terms of club size and exposure. Suspect he would be happier and do better where he is.
Jesus Christ! Wtf does "for now" mean? He's not the man, get rid .
So agree with you on this. How he is sacked means nothing but the decisions after that in the club need to change. So basically he was about to be sacked which is what everybody wanted.
Except most people starting shouting "club is a shambles" "were a mess" "not very classy" etc.
So the board read this and think ah shit they dont want him sacked... give him more time.
I personally dont give a feck how he is sacked, what goes round comes around. He was a classless prick himself more often than not.
They always cheer at first, but if the football falls into the usual pattern it can get ugly. I still think they will win, but it is the games after the international break that could be a big problem for him. Which is too late.Tonight’s headlines will be how Jose is to be backed after a great reception at OT in a dramatic turn of events.

Besides, those 4 matches aside, we could go without a win in all of our next 7. Today's match against a relegation bound New Castle has me nervous.
I agree that Newcastle is not a given. They're well-organised and Arsenal, City & Chelsea only managed to each beat them by a goal. 0-0 draw would not be a big surprise.
I get the feeling it will fall into the media’s hands after a decent performance. Southgate in for temporary role.
After that apart from Liverpool we have a run of technically speaking 'easy' games. You could just see them clinging onto the hope that we pick up in December. It is never-ending.I get the feeling it will fall into the media’s hands after a decent performance. But I agree, those games coming up look like potential disasters
It wasn't announced, or at least the rumour was of a leak. There's a usage difference between a leak and a briefing.Bizarre though. Why announce it now? Why not just sack him on say, Wed or Thurs? Or why not just wait until Sundya and do it.
Seems a weird thing to leak prior to the game.

We've had a run of technically speaking easy games recently and, well, that hasn't exactly gone to plan. After that apart from Liverpool we have a run of technically speaking 'easy' games. You could just see them clinging onto the hope that we pick up in December. It is never-ending.
This is only true to an extent. In general, until Mourinho's antics, they have unconditionally backed every manager to the hint, giving them a football manager esque experience and freedom to do whatever the feck they wanted to.
The leadership has been poor, no doubt, in part in their selection of disappointing managers. But it's also true that they've generally given the managers all the resources and decision making power (until summer 2018).
Yes they should have given Moyes 6 years to turn is into Everton. They have not given any of these managers the most important commodity; time.
He's a very handsome man, but not sufficiently so to make me leave my wife. Maybe if he lost a few pounds...Not sure how I feel about Poch.
