Good on you finding this tweet. Ed Woodward is shit but I can't imagine him going to tell David McDonnell that he's going to sack Jose on Saturday.
Mourinho leaked our last manager sacking, it’s not a stretch to suggest he’d do it again.

Mourinho has to go. Pogba has to go. Woodward has to go. The Glazers have to go. Phil Jones has to go. Romelu Lukaku has to go. Jamie Carragher has to go. They all have to go. Have to. Bring in Pep. Bring in Arthur. Bring in Gill. Bring in Arab/Chinese/Russian owners. Bring in Johnny Stones. Bring in Hazza Kane. Bring in George Burley. Bring on the trophies.
Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose Fellaini. Choose a fecking big centre half. Choose slow passing, counters, hitting the post, and electrical tin opener sponsors.

It's not like Woodward wasn't leaking shit after this summer window either was he

In anycase, the reason why I think we should hold back on blaming the club for this leak is that Ducker said Mourinho was in London.

Moyes sacking, I’m willing to give Ed the benefit of the doubt and put that down to Woodward being inexperienced in the role, like the Herrera fiasco also showed.

LVG’s sacking as I have shown was leaked by Mourinho/Mendes so it’s really not ridiculous to suggest they’d do it again.

You're right. His briefing after the summer debacle was unacceptable. However, it's too early to jump into the conclusion that he's behind this one.

I’m not saying it’s implausible that Mourinho leaked it. He might have. But you guys seem to have already decided it was him and not Woodward. There is little value to debate something when someone has made their mind up and is subsequently treating it as a fact. There is as much reason to believe it was Woodward or indeed someone else at the club, as it is Mourinh. Thats all I’m geting at.

Of course none of us really know, I just don’t think it’s fair that everyone is straight away hammering the club for this when there might be more to it. If it’s proven to be the club then fair enough it’s a classless thing to do but what can you do, it’s the way football is going now isn’t it.

Seeing as Jose is due to take charge tomorrow it would suggest he wasn't aware he was about to be sacked.

So how would he leak his own sacking?

If the club has told him he's being sacked, there is no way at all he would still be at the club. Not only would he have no reason to take the game v Newcastle seriously, he would be completely undermined. The entire thing would be farcical.

Unless people believe the club has told him but has also asked him to kindly take charge of the game against Newcastle. Nobody believes that, surely.

There’s nothing to be gained by being classless though. So if football is going that way the club doesn’t need to follow suit (if it is the club).

Regardless I still think it reflects bad on us. I really struggle to understand why we allow such a large time gap between making a decision and actually announcing it. I suspect working out severence could be a point of contention But then should hash it out and then just make the announcement. It seems like we make the decision and then dilly dally before we announce anything.

What have the club done in the past 5 years for people not to hammer them right now? There is no structure and Woodward especially does not have a clue.

As I said for Moyes and LvG, I will repeat myself:

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! :(

I dunno, a lot of rumours that he actually wants to be sacked rather than resign so that he gets his payment package.

Apparently that is why he and Mendes met Woodward in London tonight to discuss his severance package.'

I get the feeling he never truly settled at United and it wasn't what he imagined.
Oh, I'm 100% sure that's true.

I do have sympathy with him missing his family, but this happens to shift workers, armed forces, oil rig workers, and many others. And they can't just get sacked and be handed a King's ransom.

Quite honestly, he has made his own bed and now he should lie in it.

I just meant that we shouldn’t all jump to conclusions without hearing the full story.

Woodward likes his leaks. The club is a mess regardless of who leaked the story. That's the bigger picture. Utter incompetence.

I've always heard Jose the person is a pretty good man, so I have a teeny, tiny bit of sympathy.

But then I remember what Jose the football manager has been for almost 2 decades, and how much he's earned doing it and...yeah he can do one.

That’s the most important thing right there. The opportunity to leak this information shouldn’t have existed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's Mourinho. Just putting out arguments why it might not be from the club.
Same here. I personally think him being the source makes the most sense. That said, I’m fine with anyone that doesn’t share that opinion.

The man has been living in a hotel alone for almost three years. Don't care how many starts the hotel has, that's got to take a toll.

 at people assuming that its Woodward responsible for this leak. Mendes/Mourinho were responsible for the LVG story, why wouldn't they be responsible again, especially if its the same journalist as last time?

Too much outrage for what is ultimately the right decision. I really really hope this is true and Mourinho is sacked this weekend. Don't really care too much how it's done. Mourinho was a snake when LVG was manager.

The narrative has changed slightly too from people wanting him out to “he’s been hard done by” etc

It’s a clever move by him if it is the case.

The real ridiculous thing is to think that Mourinho camp will know he's sacked, leak it to the media then go and manage the game tomorrow like nothing happened. If Mourinho camp knew he was sacked Carrick will be managing tomorrow.

Some love argument for the sake of it, even if their views make zero sense whatsoever.

He deserves the sack, the team is miserable; no one seems to be really enjoying themselves. His voice has become stale, and his management has been piss poor. However, Gary Neville is right that the problems are deeper than just the coach, but I think this team is in need of a new voice and direction. It'll be really interesting to see who takes over.

Overall, this is good news. The press conference won't be as miserable and we won't have to hear about Mourinho's past success after every high-profile defeat.

United should be issuing a statement denying this first thing tomorrow. Otherwise, Mourinho should tell Woodward to grow a pair, sack him before the game, and shove our club up his arse.

Like has been suggested previously it takes a while for these things to be ironed out. It’s entirely plausible that talks had begun about a potential settlement and it then got leaked.
