D. McDonnell - the Mirror: Jose will be sacked this weekend | BBC: Jose still has board backing

I'd prefer Woodward gets a kick up the ass out of the club before we start axing players.

This all starts at the top. We've clearly had no plan whatsoever since SAF retired.

Get someone in who's more accustomed to football operations - not selling tractor and noodle sponsorships.

The entire club needs a shake up from top to bottom as 5 years of failure is too much to ignore. You do not fail for this long without good reason and that is incompetence. This includes all major positions including Woodwards, manager position and the players to some degree as well. We really do need seasoned professional football people that can lead a big football club like Manchester United to be in charge of football decisions at our club.

At this point it feels like the only course of action is to shut the whole show down.

Either that, or mass boycotts. It’s blatantly clear, Gary Neville hit the nail on the head. Rotten to the core.

We're shite as a football club, and it all happened once Fergie and Gill stepped down. That all that matters for everyone except the board. We can keep being the richest or the highest value, will mean shite if we're out of competition of big titles. We'll basically become the Dallas Cowboys of football.

Football isn’t for the fans anymore though is it. It’s a cold hard business and we’re currently the best at that.

Being as good as we are off the field is allowing us the time on the field to feck things up without much repurcussion. Things will click into place eventually and we will go from strength to strength.

Mourinho needs to go, Nev still nailed it though

The 2 aren't mutually exclusive

Ok then pal. Kane>Lukaku. Son>Rashford. Eriksen>Lingard. Dembele>Herrera/Matic. Trippier>Our failed RW converted RB Valencia. Alderweireld/Vertonghen I shouldnt even need to explain. Davies>Young who was our starting LB when we finished 2nd last season while Spurs finished where exactly?
I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make, if those players are better than ours is that not down to superior one on one coaching and recruitment because Pochettino certainly hasn't had anything like the resources Mourinho has had yet has got them in the top 3 for the last three years. Lukaku is the most expensive number 9 in the history of football while Harry Kane was an academy prospect starting to get the odd game, Alderweireld cost a third of what Lindelof cost and I could go on. Surely he deserves huge credit for improving and getting the best out of players, not buying them for huge money and then just expecting them to work it out for themselves (and then bitching about their character if they don't).

Shows how far we've fallen if Brendan Rodgers is being considered.

We're gonna be in for a rude awakening when the new manager comes in and the football still isn't up to standard. Our problems are far deeper than the manager.
We have a talented squad no doubt. A manager who can implement attacking football will improve things tenfold. You do have a point though, there are many more problems other than the manager.

I really hate this kind of leaks
It is justifiable to sack him but not with this kind of leaks

What a fecking joke from the club. Seriously fecked me off that. Neville is raging and I am too, timing of this if true is absolutely fecking farcical.
How can anyone be surprised at this point? It's patently clear the board has very little interest in establishing some sort of a long term vision at the club. It's nice to hope that'd change after a series of monumental feck ups, but the current top brass at Utd don't fill you with much confidence. Murky waters ahead.

Delighted with this news.

All these soft lads crying “oh the club is rotten things won’t change”, I guarantee you within a few weeks we’ll be playing much better football.

Jose has loomed a miserable dark cloud over this club since January, he has to be removed from his position as things are rapidly getting worse for him and us.

I respect him for trying but he’s damaged goods these days, doesn’t have anything a modern manager needs.

No it’s Jose Mourinho that seemingly has very little interest in the long term future of the club.

Amazing how fans want to chant his name. Then you wonder why the board are so slow to sack these failed managers.

Better football is irrelevant without trophies. I’ll eat my proverbial hat if the next manager can deliver in that respect though.

Its very telling that so many can see this and their immediate response is a superficial glee rather than recognising that the problems here are much deeper than whatever manager is in charge.

This is basically the exact same as what happened with previous 2 managers. Some fans treat it all like a new signing. Give me something shiny and its all good again. People like Neville have it so so right.

It's vitally important - if this is all true - that Gary did respond like that so quickly addressing the real issues at the club. If there are no fundamental changes to overall leadership and competence we'll definitely be in a groundhog day loop with this down the line.

Sky Sports are reporting it.

They say regardless of the result, he will be sacked this weekend.

The story has been broken early by certain journalists.

This and a 100 times this.
He summed up my feelings in 5 mins.
The way this football club is being ran is an absolute disgrace.
Mourinho might not be the man to lead us forward but we need to start looking at the decision making at this football club and hold those who are making decisions responsible.

Gary is spot on there. I've been saying it for months. The real problems lie further up the chain from the manager. Will I be upset to lose Mourinho of this is true? No, but this doesn't fix the problems we have. And the way this is handled is a joke.

No it’s Jose Mourinho that seemingly has very little interest in the long term future of the club.
It showed their lack of vision when they appointed him. A panicked reaction City getting Guardiola by recruiting someone who was always a bad fit and who had just had the worst six months that any manager at a big club has had in recent times.

No one care about how much we're valued or how rich we're. These are only interesting for the board who want to suck millions from the club. Only thing that matters for everyone is success on the pitch, and as far as I can see, we're the only big club in the world who has been a complet failure when it comes to everything on it. Other clubs have trophies and big titles recently to celebrate and show for it, while we have nothing but social media retweets and club value.

For how manh times will we remain attractive for sponsors while we're completely irrelevant and not competing for anything worth it ? Success on pitch brings continuous success on business.

He lost 3 dressing rooms. Special one indeed

I'm fine with the decision if it happens, but yet again the club's handling of it will be an absolute farce if true.

Step in the right direction , it was clear the players gave up on him. I think even Jose gave up after his " it's going to be a difficult season" interview. He didn't get his targets and it wasn't down to money ..it was down to trust ...sadly the board didn't trust him.
Back to Gary though...what the deck does the board know besides Bobby and SIR Alex ?

Quite surprised to see Gary Neville or some of you in such a shock over the leak.
Sir Alex’s retirement plan was leaked the night before it was announced by the club officialy, and that was the biggest news in PL history.

It's a bit sad and predictable that the beancounting twats running the club into the ground leak yet another managerial sacking to the press. How hard is it to have a bit of class and just sack them?

That’s a fair comment.

Don’t get how more people don’t see this. He had the most to gain from it being leaked.

It’s still poor management by the club. If you think this is a risk, then fecking tell him and arrange the press release for 5 minutes afterwards.

Not that I agree with you. Moyes and LVG provide pretty damning evidence.

Fully with everything Neville said.

There is something rotten in the way these things are being handled and there is clearly a total lack of football knowledge right the way through the board.

Jose had to go at some point this season, but no point doing it until there's a succession plan in place.

Moyes found out in the press.
Van Gaal found it out through the press right after he won the FA cup.
And now the Jose story breaks before our game tomorrow.

Absolutely disgraceful from the club if these reports are true. Eddy has made the club a fecking circus. Sacking Jose is the right decision, doing it through the press before a game is cowardly.

I hope he is next. Time & again he has shown that he is incapable of handling the football operations. He must go too this time.

Then Pogba in January. Time to end the circus and go back to being a football club. We don't want any version of Disneyland, we want our football club back.

I will always love Gary for this interview. It is the most honest interview I've seen with any of our ex players. He's the only one who has come close to criticising the owners like this.

This time mostly with the players he's actually bought

Sacking him is too harsh though. Maybe we should allow him to be Zidane's translator? He will go back to his origins so to speak

What Nev has said tonight resonates a LOT with me. Don't really care if on the results to be honest. He's bang on though, we are rotten to the core. People laud Woodward for his financial acumen. **** that, this is the money printing machine called Man Utd. If you can't get it right here then eff off and sell central heating to the Eskimo's. If the story has been leaked and Jose goes over the weekend then it's a sad state of affairs. The All Star Dressing room has won. That **** Pogba can do one as well. This week he had two choices. ' I will let my football do the talking on the pitch or I will say the club are gagging him. And some people want to back this 'creative genius' not for me.

I don't like Jose football but hey here's a thought, what if Sanchez wasn't his signing, what if we DID overachieve last season. I frikkin hope the crowd are right behind him tomorrow night if nothing but a protest at that clown Woodward. We can all agree that apparently, we have had 3 wrong managers, not achieved what we should yet Woodward remains in a job. Wind the BS in !!!

We really are a fecking mess. I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to our club but feck me.

A genuine true candidate for director of football, but wouldn’t be a yes man to the horror show that is ed Woodward.

The club can't seriously be considering Rodgers, surely?

I’m not sure about that. Mourinho deserves to know as soon as the decision is made. Him briefing/leaking the news is just him being bitter and trying to garner sympathy or support. I don’t think it reflects badly on the club if that is indeed the case.
