We'll be in the same situation two years down the line if we select our next managerial appointment from the "who's available right now list". Plus, it's not fair on the new incoming manager to expect them to sort out the turmoil. There needs to be a grace period of some sort while we consolidate and plan properly.

What if we bring someone in next week in a rush then decide to go ahead with the DOF and the new manager doesn't like it? There's too much to sort out, we have to wait. Chelsea have done it before now and been fine, Rafa even won the Europa League!
We wouldn't sack him without a replacement lined up. Not when we are barely in October.
We must have gotten a yes from someone, no way were we in a sack him and then see situation.
Its clear as day we have Zidane lined up, theres no need to create this long term thinking theory from thin air.

One thing I'll love once Mourinho is gone is we'll get rid of this trash accusations for any poster who defends his club manager, unless in 2 years people were start saying "Zidane fanboys".
Love these kind of witch hunts.

Full Gary Neville reaction on Sky Sports as the news broke.

I actually felt like giving a round of applause after that. Totally nailed the dysfunction within the club.

Shambles of a club if true. Players have taken over the asylum. We have become another Chelsea and City, teams who we mocked in the last for the way they handled things. Hope it is not Conte or Zidane because I can only see both being a disaster. Problem is Ed will probably go for one or the other because it will keep Pogba happy. What does Pogba offer off the pitch, massive shirt sales. If they can get someone who can keep Pogba happy, then it is a job well done and a pat on the back for Ed. That is what the club has become and it is finished. Ferguson legacy ended when Gill was replaced by Ed.

Embarrassing isn't it? It's like the people who come on here the second we drop points to say "I told you we should have sacked him ages ago! You won't listen!". Trying to persuade internet strangers to agree with you in order to improve your self esteem.

Ever since the Gill-Fergie set up departed, we have been very media friendly.

Woodward has to be the key source, because it's exactly his style. It's extravagant, it creates a talking point and generates the interest he needs to ensure the brand is out there in the public domain.

I have to agree with Neville. Without name dropping him, he is the man behind 3 failed managers. And not one of those managers has ever praised his presence in overseeing the club. I go back to Fergie and Gill, and Gill was spoken of very highly, because he did things the right way.

Woodward looks like a slimy bastard with qualifications in business, economics and accounting coming out of his arse. But he certainly doesn't know how to manage the football element of Manchester United and the last 5 years proves that.

What I want, more than anything, is the sense that there is a plan. Something we're working towards in the long term. I get none of that from board.

If this was fake news I'd expect the usual journos to be reporting that United have denied it. The silence from the club normally speaks volumes in matters such as these.

I'm pretty sure LVG was 'sacked tomorrow' loads of times so I'm inclined not to believe it.

Neville is spot on. I don't see any manager succeeding under the current structure regardless who we bring in.

Doubt they would have reported it that way if it's from Mourinho camp. More like an inside source leaked it tomth journo imo.
Well if it came from Mourinho’s camp it would look better for him if it looked like it came from inside the club.

Great news if true but Woodward and the Glazers have to take the blame too....the club have been a shambles for years and something needs to be down NOW.

Anyhow, in terms of replacement I have just had a thought to a possible interim manager, how about Wenger? He could be employed until end of season and he would get us playing football.

Blimey! Mendes is really earning his money this week - his two biggest clients having disasters (of very differing magnitudes, obviously!)

Images of Ari Gold glued to the phone comes to mind.

I just want to enjoy watching a game of football

This is officially the passing of the torch to the next "Super Agent" - Mino Cuntiola who goes from strength to strength, and has now overtaken him.

I think there's just too many moving parts to keep a conversation quiet between our club and another manager. It would have leaked ages ago if we'd approached Zidane or anyone else for that matter. We also can't operate a club on what Zidane does. If we were sacking Mourinho then we have to do that, not keep him on until someone else becomes available. We'll be fine without a manager for a while anyway, we have some of the best coaches and recently former players in the world, who I'm sure can keep us afloat for a bit.

I’m pretty sure if this wasn’t happening given the traction it’s getting then a denial, even this late at night would have been released.

Ducker, who’s connected at United can’t even get a denial. It’s done.

Ducker has his sources, imagine if he was unable to have someone deny it that this is definitely happening this weekend.

Absolutely disgraceful from the club. Shameful Manchester United.

It's definitely happening now, imo. It's such a huge story and gotten so much coverage since Gary Neville's rant (which was 100% spot on by the way) - the fact that they've not responded to it tells it's own story.

If Mourinho gets the sack then a few players need to be told that they have no future here as well. The players need to understand that if the manager fails then they do not escape the consequences from failure either to prevent more players from stopping doing their best in the future.

Couldn't agree with him more. An absolute shame what's going on with the club. Wish we could sack the entire board and get some sensible people in.

Thought the partial interview was good , that full one kicks ass, well said GNEV.

Im so glad someone has said it, hopefully he won’t be the last.

Obviously I'll be happy if this is true, but if Conte is his replacement I see little point, his football is the same safe, pragmatic shite as Mourinho only he doesn't act like an arsehole all of the time. As far as it being leaked and the moral arguments going on, Mourinho has acted with a lack of class several times while here, he's hardly earned much of anything with his behaviour.

As for Neville, he seems to think managers should never be sacked, and yes there are problems beyond Mourinho but no matter what changes above, nothing will alter the fact Mourinho's the wrong man for Manchester United in how he acts, how he treats players and how he plays football.

Well if this is true then I can't say I'm happy. Not because I think its wrong, just that losing a Manager shows the club is in turmoil.

If we have leaked it then I am disappointed we have stooped down to Mourinho's level and washed our linen in public.

If Jose or Mendes has leaked it then they continue to be A grade pricks.

I hope we don't rush this appointment as I think we will get a positive reaction to removing Jose's bile from the club.

What a shame you wasted the opportunity of a lifetime Jose!

Why will he get a good reception it’s his own doing.
Its not his own undoing. Everybody knew what we were getting when we hired Jose. You cant expect the man to change his philosophy according to the club. The club had to back him with his project which didn't happen last summer.
