D. McDonnell - the Mirror: Jose will be sacked this weekend | BBC: Jose still has board backing

McDonnell knows his stuff, in fact it looks like he's Ed's favourite choice for breaking this kind of news:

Moyes: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-sack-david-moyes-3438544

Van Gaal: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/axe-set-fall-louis-van-8016430

I reckon that all but confirms it. Jose is gone.

I did think that if it had been leaked by the club then surely all outlets would be reporting it themselves as opposed to quoting the Mirror article. Perhaps this explains it then.

It’s maybe also why the rest of the media are running with it, if they think McDonnell is a credible source.

I’m not convinced, though.

Maybe the potential DoF made clear he couldn’t work with Jose so Ed is eager to get this done asap.

One can hope there’s a masterplan behind all this.

I'm hoping it's just the club trying to rescue something from this season. Letting this continue would be complete negligence. It actually doesn't matter who they bring in till the end of the season. Poorer managers have come in and done a better job as caretakers when the situation gets toxic - see Di Matteo and AVB.

But the full-time appointment whenever that is, must be done by a DOF with an actual plan.

That’s bollocks, Pep has had £500 million give or take. Mourinho has had what? £350-400 million. Exaggerating much?
Not the thread for this but it's been very different for both mangers. One has had it all their own way, and I mean ALL their own way and the other has had it somewhat their own way.

Board hasn't learned a thing from sacking LVG. Again the reports are out before he gets the sack. Disgraceful. Neville is spot on.

I find it funny that some people feel hurt on Jose's behalf and demand he gets shown respect. This is a man who has disrespected numerous people throughout his career and treated several people like shit. He'd throw anyone under a bus to protect his ego. He deserves no respect from us so feck him, good riddance.

That still doesn't mean we shouldn't treat him with respect. Why stoop to a lower level?

If we get Rodgers that meltdown on the caf would almost make it worth having to see his horrible giant toothy grin sticking up the sideline.

It’ll be fecking mental but atleast he plays attacking football

It’s a stupid argument though because you’re basically saying Jose has failed here because he wasn’t given as much money as Pep. Which is simply not true.

Current bookies fav is still Zidane. 2nd fav is Brendan Rodgers. Conte is 3rd.
I will probably die from laughter if this happens (and certainly will from desperation if I somehow survive the first phase).

No I'm not. I'm saying we would have been more relevant if Jose would have had everything his own way. I'm not saying anything other than that.

I was going to ask a serious question about how much worse things could get for us, then I saw Brendan Rogers' name and laughed.

I agree with what he says about the board, they’re fecking useless and a DoF or even a team of guys needs employing to take over that side of the club.

But I don’t think we’re wrong to sack Jose, it’s a complete disaster at the moment .
Yes on that side I have nothing against his points but thinking that fans will back Jose tomorrow like they never did before is absolute nonsense, on what planet he’s been living?

Exactly how I feel. I feel ashamed of Manchester United at the moment and not because of the results.
I have no idea why you would. Being as rigid as Gary is putting the manager before the club or it's being delusional that it's easy to recreate another Fergie situation.

Every club does this. If Gary had his way we would currently be on year 6 of Moyes.

edit: My mistake. Gary is saying that we shouldn't inform the media before letting the manager know. I agree with this. However, if he does get sacked I'll be more happy than angry.

No one ever gets their own way all the time. Even Pep hasn't been able to buy every player he wanted. It's not a relevant argument

I wonder if Gary Neville thinks he shouldn’t have got the sack at Valencia. Weird comments that.

There is no question he should have gone, but the decision should have been made before the start of the summer transfer window. Ed Woodward cannot remain as CEO. He needs to move to a commercial position and we need a football person in charge.

No manager will be given total control at Manchester United anymore. Those days are gone. Mourinho failed to adapt and that was his downfall and why he deserves to go.

I want it to be true but why leak it now? It just intensifies the cloud over us when we could actually get three precious points this weekend.
It doesn't make any sense. It could be the media getting extra vindictive and retaliating for the press conferences with increased lies to undermine him.

If it is true then it's an absolute disgrace for us to give him the contract, not back him in the transfer market, then sack him and again leak it. Issues run deeper than the manager.

Dont think we will bring anyone in to replace him.

If this is true, that the club could make Jose look like the one being wronged here shows how badly we're being run.

We're a shambles, and anyone who thinks this is good news is blinkered to the fact the the real decision makers in the operation haven't got a clue, and don't really care.

I'll see you all in a season or two when this can be reposted regarding the next sacrificial lamb we end up appointing as manager doesn't work out.

Always been a big fan of Jose, always wanted him to replace saf. But his time here has been as disaster. It's almost as if he couldn't care less. Living in a hotel, we've had no identity whatsoever at any point. In some ways it's a little sad but in other ways it's about time.

I don't get Nevilles reaction. Jose has lost it. I don't see an alternative tbh.
