Wah wah, disgraceful, my butt cheek. You guys can't have your cake and eat it too. Get him out ASAP while we still have time to salvage our season.
I didn't want Mourinho in the first person, I think he's a thoroughly unpleasant individual but at the same time if this is true then it's not the way to treat someone as it wasn't with Moyes. I have less sympathy with Mourinho given it was his camp who were so keen to leak that he was replacing Van Gaal as soon as the FA Cup Final ended so LVG couldn't even have his moment but it's still completely unedifying and unprofessional that the club haven't had the decency to inform one manager of the last three that they're leaving before the press find out (again, presuming that this is true when it's entirely possible that it isn't).

A shame. Both the news, and the fact it’s been leaked to the press.

After exam results earlier today, and now this news, this has to be the best day of 2018 for me so far :D

The problem with that is Jose has repeatedly disrespected Woodward publicly. At the end if the day that’s his boss that his passive aggressive and thinly veiled comments are aimed at.

Neither Moyes or LVG acted out as Jose has done, but both of their dismissals were handled in equally poor fashion as this latest one. I'd be prepared to bet cash money that Ed purposely leaked this information to the press.

Jose is now expected to walk out at OT tomorrow afternoon and manage the clubs affairs as if nothing has happened.

Yeah, I felt the same way about Van Gaal. If you want someone gone then fecking get rid, the sooner the better. Exactly when the story breaks is no big deal. At the end of the day, this is good news for everyone who wanted Mourinho gone (most people on redcafe)

I just wish there was an obvious, quality replacement. That’s the bit that has me anxious.

Aye, I don't really get it.

If I was an employer for 2 and a bit years and had a £10m+ sacking clause, they could plaster the news all over social media without telling me.

The main priority is choosing the right manager, what will be the disgrace is choosing the wrong one.

I wont be sad to see Jose go. Although in the beginning I had high hopes of him winning us the Premiership Title before he went. I just hope we have a decent Director of Football ready to come in, which is appointment which should have been made in the summer.

Since when does a club have a manager have one last game? If things have reached that point, then you have a caretaker until a new appointment. This is a farce and heads should roll higher up.

Just posted something similar but what does Woodward gain from it though? He’s no idiot and I just don’t see why he’d do it apart from pure revenge for Jose slagging him off.

I’m sort of glad because for the last 6-12 months the speculation and talk is just boring and actually ruins anything to do with United. I think Jose hasn’t been great but the press have been vindictive and held him to different standards. They’ve had an agenda and it’s been boring but it’s clear they wanted him out and the sheep followed and that obviously is a distraction for the manager and team. I don’t think any other manager would have been on immediate sack watch after two trophies and then 2nd to the team with the most points and wins in history.

At least this will stop our fans crying about how evil he is, slow down the bollocks the press writes and kills their Pogba-Jose story.

I’m worried about who’s going to be brought in. I think we are in for an awful season. Minimal chance of top 4, probably out at the group stage.

I feel sorry for Jose. I think he has a genuine affection for the club but he’s got the job at the worst time and a lot of bad decisions made around him made it a hard job. Then to top it off you’ve got to hear speculation and lies all the time as a distraction.

Ditto, I just feel it’ll be Zidane though as the story has been doing the rounds since the Summer & if Mourinho is sacked now, that’s not usually the way Woodwood operates so...

Zidane... the players would love him, but feels like another that could either way. Would much prefer we do everything in our power to get Poch.

I don’t get why people are so upset by this. He’s going to get a very adequate compensation package. It’s a business, sometimes shit like this happens.

If we get a new manager in and actually start to improve and reach our potential who really cares?
It's not even about Mourinho. It's the fact that we can't, or even worse, won't keep shit like this inhouse at least until after we actually sack him. What the feck is the point in leaking this shit to the bloody Mirror. It just seems so unprofessional. It just goes to show how badly we are run.

I find it funny that some people feel hurt on Jose's behalf and demand he gets shown respect. This is a man who has disrespected numerous people throughout his career and treated several people like shit. He'd throw anyone under a bus to protect his ego. He deserves no respect from us so feck him, good riddance.

He won’t walk out there if this is true, it’ll be breaking news in the morning that he’s fired or walked away. No chance he walks United out if he knows he’s getting sacked.

There's no chance he'd take a caretaker job. Why would he?
1. Cash. 2. Ego.
Every manager has an ego. Apart from Moyes he was just deluded. IMO Conte would want to try again and he would definitely have a point to prove that he is a top top manager.

Liverpool supporting mate just messaged saying he hopes we don’t get Rodgers.

Don't share the faux anger Neville and some fellow United fans are currently displaying - I mean this is the guy that wishes Moyes was still here - however I do agree with him that change is required at the club several levels above the manager.

I won't celebrate Jose going, it's never nice to see a manager sacked.
If Conte comes I think I'll cry, get rid of Jose if we absolutely must and get in an attack minded coach, we don't need 2/3 more years of boring football.

I’m not sure it is. What does he gain from doing it apart from public contempt.
Keeps him in favour with the journalists, he can manipulate the news coming out of Old Trafford if he throws them the occasional bone. The journalists will be dining out all year on this, especially the guy who broke it, so next time we need a propaganda piece, who do you think Ed will call?

Ego is exactly why he wouldn't take it. Conte doesn't strike me as the type to keep someone else's seat warm for them.

Explains the press conference this morning. Jose was a defeated man and looked resigned to being sacked.

Thanks for the 2 and a bit years Jose, but you're done as a top level manager. Some fresh ideas and impetus needed.

I think whoever is coming in will be exclusively in a caretaker capacity.

That's drifting dangerously towards the "what problems could people that rich have?" line of reasoning that's always so silly.

Regardless of money received, being publicly embarrassed on top of being widely deemed a failure at your job is going to hurt. You'd have to be fairly lacking in empathy to genuinely think people wouldn't care just because they have money.

Though you're right about choosing the manager being the main priority. Neville always speaks about this trend starting when we sacked Moyes but in reality it started when we made the mistake of appointing him.

Exactly, makes me think the leak came from Mourinho rather than the club.
