It's the right decision at the wrong time. Leaks at every club now but seems worse for us, as under Ferguson it was tight-lipped most of the time.

I think whoever is coming in will be exclusively in a caretaker capacity.
Fair enough, leave conte taking care of his Toupee not our football club.

PLEASE BE TRUE. Would be shocked but huge for our season, for once not waiting too long. Guess all we can do is wait and see.

That's drifting dangerously towards the "what problems could people that rich have?" line of reasoning that's always so silly.

Regardless of money received, being publicly embarrassed on top of being widely deemed a failure at your job is going to hurt. You'd have to be fairly lacking in empathy to genuinely think people wouldn't care just because they have money.

Though you're right about choosing the manager being the main priority. Neville always speaks about this trend starting when we sacked Moyes but in reality it started when we made the mistake of appointing him.

Ouch, wouldn't it be so unfair if Mourinho got a taste of that medicine? :D

Explains the press conference this morning. Jose was a defeated man and looked resigned to being sacked.

Thanks for the 2 and a bit years Jose, but you're done as a top level manager. Some fresh ideas and impetus needed.
I would disagree. If we'd have given Jose £1b to spend on his own brand new team, like certain other manager, I'm pretty sure we'd have mopped up. But we don't work that way!

Ego is exactly why he wouldn't take it. Conte doesn't strike me as the type to keep someone else's seat warm for them.
What other big job will he get? If they offered him a caretaker job and a fulltime role based on performance that would be decent. I dont see who else we can get with experience in the league and who can get a team to play football

I find it funny that some people feel hurt on Jose's behalf and demand he gets shown respect. This is a man who has disrespected numerous people throughout his career and treated several people like shit. He'd throw anyone under a bus to protect his ego. He deserves no respect from us so feck him, good riddance.

I don't want to see any manager sacked like that, if indeed the Mirror story is true. Even worse, leaking to the press THREE times in a row before we let a manager go is disgraceful.

He should be sacked. Just not like that.

Ouch, wouldn't it be so unfair if Mourinho got a taste of that medicine? :D

Well yes, there is an element of reaping what you sow. I haven't forgotten that it was apparently Mourinho's camp who leaked news of Van Gaal's sacking before he even had time to celebrate one of his few triumphs with us.

Good job Cardiff and Huddersfield are in this league because I'd give us a shot at being relegated otherwise, with Jose or without.

I guess it's because people have spent so long arguing how he's ruining our so called great image. In truth he's probably very aligned to our current boardroom in that regard.

No one should be glad by this news until we see who the replacement will be.

Nevilles reaction doesn't make sense to me. He's spot on with regards to the board, but that doesn't mean Mourinho shouldn't be sacked as well. Plus when you talk about values and respect, don't forget that you defend a manager who hasn't shown a lot of respect towards this football club either.

I don't care about mourinho really, but leaking this reflects badly on the club. What do we gain out of this really?

That name is familiar, same guy that wrote the waste of money article on martial before he played?

Although he probably didn't write the headline lol

Anyway it's bizarre if done like this. What happens if we win 5 nil? Basically it doesn't matter? If so why let him take charge of the game

Either that or it's speculative guess where the result if it doesn't happen is
The board have changed their mind article or
They are still contemplating it ...

Conte is the most Ed Woodward of fecking appointments in fairness. A nice CV ignoring everything else.

If/when you sack Jose, thats him done in England. Will never manage here again. The Jose we had first time round was special, and was in his prime and a winning machine. I think recently he has lost his head and people have sussed him out. Definitely one of the top managers around last 15-20 years

To be fair, David McDonnell's reputation will take a massive hit if he is wrong.

Conte managed Pogba for a few years didn't he at Juve? Could be part of the thinking.

I wouldn't say his Chelsea team were always awful to watch, his 16/17 team played some terrific stuff during their long unbeaten run but guess the side just tired of his constant demands after a year.

Interesting Man. United seem to let Chelsea get these managers at their peak and then pick them up when they're on a downhill spiral. Still Conte knows the league and would probably improve things in the short term.

When you have owners that don't know what shape the ball is or the name of the sport, well, it's no surprise we're a fecking joke.

It starts with them and their stooge Woodward. These are the people that decide in what direction the club goes and what football we should play. God help us.

He could literally go to any of Europes elite. He has a great track record, he's won titles everywhere he's been. You won't see him at Barcelona but I bet Madrid will take a punt on him when Lopetagi gets fired. Allergi is also in the final year of his contract and Conte is a Juventus fave. I don't see why he would want to come and put his reputation on the line by trying to fix us, only for someone else to come in and finish the job next season.

Yeah, even if it's not accurate Mourinho probably won't sleep tonight, friends, family and journalist will try to contact him. And if he doesn't know, he will most likely be stressed.

That’s bollocks, Pep has had £500 million give or take. Mourinho has had what? £350-400 million. Exaggerating much?

City aren’t a better team than us because they’re spending more money, they’re better because they’re spending it effectively on players that add to their team.

Absolutely spot on by Gary Neville, the club has lost its values, soul, and now run by unqualified scoundrels, disgraceful that the manager of Manchester United now finds out about his sacking through the media, just glad Woodward wasnt around calling the shots in 1989!!

Unlike with Moyes and van Gaal and also poor results, this is not something I will celebrate. Probably for the good (I’m sick of Mourinho’s negativity instead of keeping a positive vibe) - but who can replace him? There is not a single manager in the world that can replace his talents, especially when it comes to tactics and trophies. Not a single one. Zidane? Who knows - he had literally the best team in the world on paper, all players knowing each other for years. People want someone that will make us play football again, well, good luck with that.

Whomever comes in, is probably going to fail miserably at this rate. Pressure will be enormous, the players aren’t good enough, the United-spotlight is impossible to get away from.

It reaks of Zidane and it will look good on paper, but mid-season it will be extremely difficult. Zidane is sexy beast and someone players will love to play for, but again, how much do we really know about him? We’ll find out shortly I guess, his debut will be away to Chelsea.

I want it to be true but why leak it now? It just intensifies the cloud over us when we could actually get three precious points this weekend.

If we get Rodgers that meltdown on the caf would almost make it worth having to see his horrible giant toothy grin sticking up the sideline.

Deluded, is he really so out of touch?

I agree with what he says about the board, they’re fecking useless and a DoF or even a team of guys needs employing to take over that side of the club.

But I don’t think we’re wrong to sack Jose, it’s a complete disaster at the moment .

I am delighted that he is going. He has been fecking awful for this club, and is absolutely toxic, but the way this has been handled is fecking shameful. No class at all. Unless...... the leak came from Mourinho.
