Gaming Cyberpunk 2077 (PC, PS4/5, Xbox One)

I've been saying this for some time. The video someone posted here earlier about Rockstar's game design being outdated sums it up perfectly - create these lovely vibrant worlds only to be doing the same quests/activities we've been doing since early 2000s open world games. To Cyberpunk's credit it at least gives you some flexibility with how you approach each quest, whereas every modern rockstar game punishes you for having the audacity to veer a few feet away from the intended path.

Ubisoft is the worst offender - they create these huge open worlds in the most compelling settings, only to somehow fill it with the most tedious, boring repetitive quests and activities.

Is that the one by nakeyjakey? His videos are really good. His point about you being able to plant a bomb on a car pre-mission in GTA 3 to blow it up as soon as it starts was good. They've removed that creative freedom

Yep, thats the one.

The only open world game I've played that offers you that same creative freedom nowadays is Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

can this actually be? I love collecting loads in these kinds of games so kinda off putting

But they haven't. That youtuber just hasn't found it, or isn't playing as much as he used to. In GTA Online you can do creative stuff like stick a bomb on a npc motorbike, take that motorbike into a bar, and have the bar burn down to kill everyone inside instead of getting into a fist fight like the game tells you. Or you can pick up cars to be stolen with a cargobob with the driver inside and deliver it like that (pretty tricky if he's at speed) instead of doing what the mission tells you (killing him and stealing it). There's countless other examples like taking vehicles into non-modded planes and transporting them like that.

Well, it's version 1.05 now and just now I've called my bike, it rolled in and then did a somersault in front of me.

I'm afraid I wouldn't expect much until they release the major patches which CDPR have said will be one in January and February for consoles. These quick patches will be just things they were either already working on or very easy to fix. The main patches are the ones that will hopefully fix the majority of issues.

Well we were talking more about story mode. Red Dead especially. All the missions are on rails for the most part. Go here, listen to this conversation, do this thing. The video shows a bit where the game tells you to park up a wagon you stole, but you cannot progress unless it's in the exact spot they've designated. It's definitely not as free'd up as it used to be.

Red Dead may be another story, I haven't spent much time in RD's story mode, it's just too slow paced for me. I do have 100h or so on the online mode though and enjoyed that (having friends from GTA to show me around/lend a hand, helped). Just wanted to say Rockstar haven't given up on that entirely like the quoted youtuber implied.

Btt: Wasn't planing on buying it soon anyway, but with this 8mb (!?) limit i'm definitely waiting until that is fixed. Hard to believe they didn't at least put a limit on the things one can collect/craft in a save game, if too many is going to corrupt the save. Couldn't ever walk by loot just so the game doesn't corrupt itself

For me Ghost of Tsushima is the epitome of what is wrong with these games. It is an absolutely gorgeous checklist simulator. Sure, the combat is cool, but feck me, it made me hate foxes. Or hot springs. Or, please climb this ledge, no not this one THIS one you idiot, climbing segments.

Reading this thread and reviews online, looks like this game is a massive flop. Disappointing, I was looking forward to it. Not sure it's worth getting with a PS4 so I think I'll give it a pass.

Thanks. Can't they sort the glitches?
There's a joke to the tune of 99 bottles of beer on the wall that kinda sums up the problem

99 little bugs in the code, 99 bugs in the code
take one down, patch it around
117 little bugs in the code

Basically they can sort out the glitches, but it'll take a while as there are so many, and, with coding, fixing one problem can result in other issues cropping up.

And as there are numerous platforms, there can be bugs on one platform that don't appear on others so finding them isn't necessarily easy.

The problem with the more linear games, is that you worry incase you've missed anything and you get to a point where the game progresses past the current segment and you can't get back there
What I like about Uncharted is the chapter select, so you can play through the game without worrying, then go back and get the collectables you've missed.

The save file being capped at 8mb is ridiculous, what feck happened during the development of this game?

And the thought of this game having multiplayer is crazy, that mode should be delayed until they've fully fixed this game, which seems unlikely to ever happen.

I'm loving the memes and funny videos on the Cyberpunk subreddit of this whole shitshow, seems people are enjoying that content more than the game itself.

And I love to know how many players actually want multiplayer in a game like this. Cynical side of me thinks they only want to introduce it to farm microtransactions/purchases ala GTA Online.

I would drop the crowd density down a notch, which is under gameplay..
what resolution? 1080p with a mix of low and medium settings should give you a FPS boost, have a look and see which settings you don’t mind being lower

Spent a good couple hours trying to figure that out ngl, but managed to keep all the default settings at 1080p medium [high crowd density also] except for lowering cascaded shadow resolution & range - it seems to have squeezed an extra 5fps+ which is fine for now.

I'll probably pick up some extra RAM and see how that helps too.

I think going to 16gb will help, are you running it off an ssd? I would recommend that too as it really helps with spooling textures

Yeah everything boots and runs off the ssd. About the ram, I probably will have to buy 16gb rather than just add another 8 right? I can't find the same brand and specs anywhere sadly. [GeIL evo potenza 8gb pc4-19200]

It shouldn’t be a problem the Ram will just run at the slower rams speed, but actual 16gb packs are getting cheaper, so you may find it easier to just get a 16gb (2x8gb) pack. You’re on intel so ram speeds aren’t quite as important as with ryzen. Just make sure you seat the ram in the right slot for dual channel

Thanks for dealing with my millions of questions bro I am grateful.

Have you tried a higher resolution than 1080p just to check? Believe it or not, supersampling can often help as it shifts even more work to the GPU.

What’s the problem? I found the hacking irritating on that mission
Met the netrunner and after the dialogue was over it opened the shopping page which had the hack. So I purchased the hack from her and thought that was it. But apparently its not and either its bugged out for me or I am being incredibly dense and not doing something blindingly obvious

Did you scan the bit across the room? It leads to a panel by the counter and then you hack it (I hate this particular hacking) and you get a few Eddie’s for your trouble

Wait, are you talking about that super early job where you go to the shop and get PING?

If so, you ping the video camera and then once inside, you locate the access point (right next to the netrunner). Then you go and "interface" with it by plugging your thing in (giggity)

I know it had to be something that I was not doing. Wasted 15-20 min just going out of the shop and coming back in again and again

Yeah thats the one. As LM said I need to scan the room, which I think I ought to be doing in every room that I enter in this game

You do! It's a bit convoluted sometimes and really is fake depth (as after about 5mins you realise that there's only about 5 different things in the entire game to scan repeated over and over...) but get used to scanning. I have that set to toggle rather than hold too, as you do it way more than you think

In one of my first combat situations I accidentally pressed the caps key.. not realising that puts your scanner on till you push the bloody caps again. Needless to say moving in slow motion when being pelted bullets is a bit frustrating
