Gaming Cyberpunk 2077 (PC, PS4/5, Xbox One)

Has anyone tried to get a refund? Probably just Reddit talk but folk saying that CDPR made their "you can get a refund if you talk to Sony and Microsoft" before they actually told Sony and Microsoft that this what they were going to do.

Have literally just sent my refund request on PSN. I got back to the apartment in the beginning of the game the other night and thought fuuuck this shit.

A friend of mine got his refund from Microsoft in a matter of minutes. Was a straightforward process.

I won’t be getting a refund. This company needs to pull back their reputation for making a good game, so will surely go balls to the wall to make the game better.

They obviously won’t recover fully in terms of reputation now, but if they do a No Man’s Sky on it, it’ll go a long way when it comes to their next release. All eyes are on them. It’s making international news.

I still have the game downloaded on my PC since its release and didn't play it. I hope I don't regret the 60 dollars purchase. There was an update today for 3.5 GB not sure what it does.

I have few other shorter games to finish first before playing this so hopefully it would be more polished by then.

Are you sure? That sounds even more incredibly dumb then just the fact the a.i/combat is pretty trash

Pretty sure, not extensively tested myself, but saw it being the case in some youtube videos/reviews.

https://guides.gamepressure.com/cyb...nk 2077 doesn't have,to defeat even on normal.

Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't have enemies scaling to the main character's level, so you have to be careful where you travel. If you encounter high-level opponents at the beginning of the game, start running away.

Strong enemies are marked with a skull icon – they can be extremely difficult to defeat even on normal. Return to locations with tough enemies after your V gains a few levels.

It wouldn't surprise me.

It's be another incredibly dumb design decision though. For all the shit about bugs and rushing they've got, we need to remember there's some baffling design choices too.

It really is a clusterfeck  Has there been a worse release in a while? Halo MCC was an absolute mess for the online, but I don't think that got as much press understandably.

I bought it directly from them in GOG, and they have acted despicably so far. A good way to burn the trust they built over the years.

If I’ll ever buy again from them it is gonna be via Steam. They’ll get 30% less, but that is cause they’re acting like scum.

Enemies not scaling is definitely true, i got some level 28 gear from weirdly tough enemies at level 12. City is split into pieces and level of enemies in some is one shot kill territory. Cyberpsychos can be really high level (and just tough in general) and are spread throughout some lower level areas too. Random enemies just murdering you instantly has happened to me a few times.

Utterly ridiculous. Imagine gating an open world game with bad difficulty design, whilst simultaneously making whole areas, and eventually the entire map, trivial.

Who the feck designed this game?

I’m fine with no scaling to be honest. It’s kind of annoying when you get stronger but it doesn’t mean anything. I’d like to know which areas I’m alright to go in though.

At the same time I don’t want to be working my way through small sections of the map at a time either.

In an open world game? You are constantly making entire areas pointless to the point of making the entire map trivial!

I struggle to think of a more poorly thought out decision. Just when I thought they couldn't possibly feck the progression worse than that in Witcher 3

If it does have it I’d prefer it not be on the same ratio as your character. You should feel that you’re getting stronger. Otherwise what’s the point in levelling at all?

That's where the balancing comes in. You've surely played games with enemy scaling before. You can feel like a badass whilst having a challenge.

Seriously, it simply cannot be justified gating off an open world game like that. And then you level up a few times and it makes all the side quests and early areas irrelevant? I mean as I say, it's unbelievable not only that they haven't learned from the borked levelling system in W3, that they actively make it worse

It just makes no sense, it's a straight up dumb design decision.

It's simply the same system as the one from Witcher 3. Witcher 3 also had parts of the map that you should stay out of until you reach a higher level. Witcher 3 is considered amongst the goat games by many and the system there was acceptable for most as well.

I get criticism, but every 5th post or so in this topic is you just bashing the game or things about the game that most might not find all that important. Criticism yes, there are more than enough reasons to criticize the game. But many out there are still enjoying the game. Reading your posts, I almost feel bad that I'm putting hours into this to check out the story, and I'm sure others in this topic might feel the same. You're creating the sense of a general assumption that the game is absolute dogshit from top to bottom. That's definitely not true though, there's lots of things to explore, and to enjoy, albeit often times being polished badly.

I don't have an issue with all the glitches on xbox. I'm in no hurry to finish the game, and they will fix them with the patches. I don't like the first person camera. Really wish they would of included a third person angle.

NE and N are low level, basically where you start the game. If you scroll over crimes in progress or pretty much anything else on the map it has the same difficulty listing as in your journal and you pick up the pattern pretty quick. City Centre is pretty bad for cops occasionally murdering you as you drive past. I drive bikes mostly which doesn't help

Cheers. Yeah I’m on a bike at the mo. It’s quite good fun riding round. Is a wheelie too much to ask for though? :wenger:

It would have taken time and energy that they clearly didn't have to implement level scaling. I doubt it was a decision in any meaningful sense.

I got a nice bike from the chinatown fixer for 22k. Same one as in a lot of the promotional stuff. Along with the last patch its made driving kind of fun.

I’ve played a few of the side missions today and they’re fairly good. I am enjoying playing it but some of the bugs are weird. I got run over by an invisible car earlier.

There isn’t enough traffic either. Makes the city feel lifeless at times.

I think the story/side quest make it a lot of fun to play.

For what it's worth, it was a difficulty bug. I died 5 times in a row in 1 hit, changed difficulty to easy, died 1 hit, changed back to normal and it was fine. Bizarre.

The lack of enemy scaling is annoying though as the game would send me to areas for trivial quests and then there'd be an incident or crime report, I'd try to get involved and die within seconds. It's daft as the whole point is to reward you for exploration and then engagement not punish you.

Whilst I still think the world lacks interaction and feels shallow, I do think the physical design is absolutely insane. It's so dense and that there are layers upon layers on top of eachother is crazy.

I wish the driving was better so I could enjoy it more. Riding a bike is much better I think, and just handbreaking every turn but it still has a weird weight and lack of sense of speed that is super disappointing. I also think how tight everything is would benefit from more people and vehicles, which I guess is the case for those on PC.

For all my complaints, I'm now 20 hours in and keep coming back. And I've dropped off some supposedly great games pretty quickly.

Overall story is has intrigued me, even though I can't follow as it connects the dots together and could only give a one paragraph summary

Which open world RPG's have handled levelling the best in your opinion? Flat level scaling is absolute shite and has ruined many RPG's. For example there was massive criticisms of Oblivion for it. The recent AC games have probably come up with one of the better solutions, where areas have set level bands and also a minimum level that they can fall below you before the band starts to shift upwards, but the only problem is their level system (in Odyssey at least) was so messed up that even 2 levels difference was huge. Not seen how it is in Valhalla yet.

The absolute worst thing you can do is just have flat level scaling everywhere, it's fecking atrocious and makes the optimal strategy purposely trying to not level up in an RPG .

Not far enough into Cyberpunk yet to see how it handles here but hope to god it isn't a flat level scaling system.

On a separate note for all this games flaws I'm still hooked more than any game since RDR2 that's for sure. I had the misfortune of playing Watch Dogs legion during the wait and in terms of pure enjoyment there's just no comparison. So if you are able to play on PC or next-gen but put off by all the criticism, don't be. There's a reason all the criticisms are only comparing it with other GREAT games.

There are mods that people like to remove scaling from Skyrim.

Edit - they are quite fun

Personally I can’t stand the scaling in odyssey. It feels like you never get stronger,, I like the idea of going back to previous areas and just destroying.

Personally though I do think Skyrim has the best level scaling system. They introduce higher level enemies as you progress. At the start it’s just bandits, then they add bandit thugs, by end game you are tackling multiple boss types who are visually better equipped.

Slightly weird criticism when it’s identical to the Witcher.

I've decided to opt for the refund CDPR are offering. I'm loving the game so far but it seems like one that you'd want to experience on a PS5 at the very least. Have got a fair few good PS4 games on my pending list such as Sekiro, Ghosts of Tsushima, DMC 5 and more, so I think it makes sense to complete those and get this alongwith a PS5 when I do buy it, as it's the kind of game I want to play in as fully realized a manner as I can. Plus, by then , they'd have ironed out some of the flaws the game has on the PS5.

So with a heavy heart I applied for the refund this morning. Looking forward to Sony fecking about and turning down my request of course. Sigh.

What platform? I'm confident behind the technical issues there's a brilliant game. All the reviewers I trust believe so and based on the first 5 hours it's right up my alley. But due to that, and me being in no rush to play this game I want to experience properly, I'm going for the refund. Base PS4 version right now just doesn't stack up.

I’d like to know which areas I’m alright to go in though.
Check the side jobs and NCPD jobs in any given area - the map always shows their danger level. If it's higher than moderate, be careful around those parts.

I ended up buying digitally after my disc didn't arrive in time. I still tried to claim a refund once my disc arrived but it's been denied.

Tbf I have probably put at least 30 hours into it so far.

Lambs has usually been very harsh on games that are coming out these days. I hardly remember him really liking (or even not at least slightly hating) any big release in the last years. He has deep knowledge about industry but his threshold for a good game is much, much higher than a normal consumer so you have to take that into consideration. If he has a single good thing to say about a game it probably means everyone else will like it. And it's completely understandable because with experience in that industry his attention to detail and perception of what is quality and what is not should be different from a casual gamer.

Or it's made by Nintendo.

Fair enough, thanks for the in depth response.

I've downloaded the patch, I doubt it's gonna change much when it comes to the ps4 so I will probably try to sell the game by the end of the week. It's been such a fecking ridiculious experience on the PS4, I'm lost for words how they decided to release such a piece of garbage.

One thing is for sure this whole fiasco with ps4/xbox one versions is going to take a hell of a long time for CDPR's reputation to come even half way back to where it was before. I hope it means that they are going to give us some amazing content in the future. Although on the other hand it might scare them off from trying to make modern/futuristic open world games ever again.

I bet they can't wait to start working on Witcher 4 instead and it's less intensive countryside environments.
