Gaming Cyberpunk 2077 (PC, PS4/5, Xbox One)

Does anyone else have find some of the smaller red and turquoise writing hard to read at times?

I know they are going for neon at all times, but there is something to be said for black text.

Just had my first crash. Was just flicking through the menus. Wonder where it will put me back.

Anyone else stare at the lifepath screen for fecking ages trying to decide what to do for each and which to go with first?

Yup.

I also hope people are playing on hard and have spent the first 90mins running around whatever place they start in picking up everything they possibly can! My shiney new stapler will come in handy, I can feel it.

This is all I need to see, not a prayer I'm touching this on the old gen

Does it resemble the 2018 footage on PS5/PC?

Even the videos I have seen of PS5, Xbox series X and high end PC's show the crowd to be lifeless and the NPC's to be repetitive and dull.
Just reminds me somewhat of a half baked cyper punk GTA.
Without life in the game and in the City then it loses all immersion.

I have done exactly that, yes. I also watched TV in my flat, read all the bits of data I could find and scanned everyone and everything.

Did not do the staring at the lifepath screen part, as I knew I wanted to be a streetkid on my first playthrough and corpo on the second.

Had my first crash. Was just driving down the street and the game crashed. Only the second time.my PS5 has ever done that

I started on hard and now on the first main mission where you have to escape a place, they're kicking my ass. Every time I'm in an enemy line of sight I get "hacked" - set on fire or some other shite. Let's see how long I'll stick to this.

Otherwise the game runs kind of smooth, defaulted to max settings on 1440p with ray tracing and dlss on auto. I have an 2080super and vsync monitor so that might be the reason it feels smooth.

I've seen a little jank, like people disappearing into walls but not anything major. This detective stuff though, not really a fan. I hope there aren't many missions with it.

Also: can't really find the perfect settings for my controller. If I turn down the sensitivity it feels awful slow moving the camera around, if I up it - then the shooting it terrible.

The fecking hair colour looks completely different in game compared to the creation. My guy looks boring now

Aren't all NPC's usually repetitive and dull aside from the ones you interact with? Haven't played it yet mind you.

True considering it's a open world game I think RDR2 is a good comparison and it looks very average compared to that. Still I think it's quite playable but it completely misses the wow factor. On the gameplay so far I won't spoil anything, but I frankly have little idea about what the story is about and I think I'm 6 hours in.

I can only assume the landscape is RDR2 is a lot more barren compared to Cyberpunk which is several levels above. There's more going on in any one street then anything GTAV an muster up. I can only assume the game requires a lot more computational power which the PS4/Xbox doesn't have.

Death Stranding another good comparison. Looks amazing, but then remember there is feck all happening

I'm happy I got cyberpunk on pc over the ps5 version...even if I only have a 1080 GTX with no ray tracing! Turned off all the film grain crap and it runs even better now.

Well I stuck it on 1440p with RTX - Medium, DLSS on, and turned off film grain, motion blur, all those shite settings. Get about 50fps.

I've just been messing around with it (3070 but with an ancient i7 4770k) and interestingly enough it seems the settings aren't doing a whole lot. I can get it to around 50-55 maxed out Ultra (at 1080p) but only around 15 higher with everything on low/no rtx. Also the framerate is actually much more stable with DLSS turned completely off, much like Control in that regard, which suggests no one is used to it yet.

As expected Ray Tracing is the only major difference in terms of visuals/fps, but messing with stuff like the shadows/LOD makes absolutely no difference which could mean the settings don't work as intended, or more likely that the RTX takes full precedence no matter what settings you use.

Also, I haven't narrowed it down yet, but there is something making the game feel less smooth even with identical fps. I suspect, again, it's the DLSS implementation but it could also be something to do with the shadows. I'll explore further including supersampling.

First impressions - driving is great. Didn’t expect it to feel that good at all.

Graphics on Series X are a weird mixed bag. World looks ok (I’m nomad so start in the desert), not great. Reflections improve it quite a bit. NPCs look quite bad but acceptable. I’m on performance mode mind.

Trying to go for a netrunner/hacking build, but I find the whole skill tree really convoluted. Its not really explained all that well what you're getting with the perks.

I've read elsewhere the driving is good. Also, it's so strange that they've released a game that only really runs well on top end PC's and even the next gen consoles, that haven't even really been out that long, are struggling with it. I'm still really looking forward to it mind you.

Same, can’t read shit. Even in the gun store I’ve no idea what it says. Really wished they made the writing bigger for consoles.

Didn’t get delivered , even got an e-mail from Royal Mail yesterday saying it will be delivered between 8-12 today. 1st time I have pre-ordered from Game that I haven’t received on time.

Dunno if it's just me being an old, blind git but I wish this on a lot of games nowadays.
Nah it’s not just you. I’ve perfect 20/20 vision. They are made for PC, that’s why the writing is so small in certain games. The fecking screen is a few inches from the player on PC so that why they can read. Meanwhile I can’t read anything that’s not subtitles on a 42in tv. Really annoying. You’d think they’d be able to put settings in to adjust that these days. They have that setting for subtitles in cyberpunk. You can make the text bigger, but good luck with the rest. Guess not many complain about it, so it’s ignored.

Regret buying the PS4 version now reading about the issues. Pretty rank that it was advertised as current gen game when they first introduced it and it's looking so awful on it.

Go to your local office, someone might be able to find it for you if you're nice.

Miles Morales and my PS5 were both late. Annoyed me so much I decided I was fed up buying physical copies of big games. Got shopto vouchers and bought the digital version

I'm all in on the digital gaming future

Is this worth buying for PS4? Or should I just bite the bullet and play it on my PC?

I don't care if it looks less pretty mind, just whether it's playable. I vastly prefer playing stuff on a TV.

Don’t think it’s at my local one yet, as I clicked on track parcel the last update was 6am saying it was at Swindon MC which is 44 miles away.

I'm still downloading, but it seems my RX 560 doesn't even fit the minimum requirement. :nervous: Might be better to delay playing this till some patches come first.

What are your PC's specs?

Do you plan to get a PS5 any time soon?

My PC can run it easily, so performance wise it would be a no brainer. I just dont like playing anything other than strategy or 4k games on PC.

Im getting a ps5 once someone starts selling them again :)

Its certainly still playable so I wouldn't be too disheartened about this.
Here's a decent early impression video with a gamer playing on the base PS4:

Why not play it on PC with a controller? that way you've got the best of both worlds.

Did the intro and first bit, a lovely crash just as I was about to save and quit anyway.

I will reserve judgement on it for now but first impressions are....lukewarm.

My PC is in a different room and so is the monitor. I prefer sitting on my couch in front of my TV.

Anyway, I guess the ps4 version is shite then?
