Gaming Cyberpunk 2077 (PC, PS4/5, Xbox One)

@amolbhatia50k et al.

Sequel is now in development.
Yeasss!

I’m having such a blast with 2.0 switching between play styles whenever I want
Solo - ramming into hapless baddies and doing the Quake slam
Shinobi - Using katanas and mantis to leap at enemies and performing a finisher
Tech guns - Using bolt with the Satara. For anyone who enjoys shotguns use this one - it’s wonderful.

All using Sandevistan of course.

Bought it today. Even though it's first person I know I'm going to spend an hour in the character creator.
Spoiler alert: all that time you spend setting dick size and pubic hair style (you can dye it too!) all goes for naught. You never get to whip it out in game.

I would fully recommend hitting people with a phallic object.

In Cyberpunk of course.

Started PL towards the latter stages of my 2.0 play through (got a lot of side content left) and the first 3-4 hours are absurdly good. I didn’t think the Hiest could be topped but this possibly does it.

The book that heavily inspired this genre, William Gibson's cult science fiction novel Neuromancer, looks to be (finally) coming to streaming with Apple+TV.

Can we share the love a bit for this game now? Been playing through it on PC and honestly it could be in my top 10 games ever now. Some of the quests they've added, including one really dark one, really took me back to TW3 in terms of curve balls. The main story has me absolutely hooked also.

Which?

@amolbhatia50k you heard of this one?

I replayed it recently after picking up the dlc. Its much, much, much better than at launch. Still not a some genre redefining masterpiece or anything just a good open world game.

Not genre defining, but its a solid 8/9 out of 10 for me now. Hasn't been a game I've played on a while that's had me thinking of it during work and wanting to get home to continue the story. Combat is genuinely addictive too.

Yeah sounds about right. The story was always very strong but mechanically it was threadbare and undercooked at launch. I woulnd't say they're that strong at this point but at least there's something there now, it doesn't feel like playing an alpha.

Phantom Liberty is absolutely fantastic. The base game was still really lacking for me in comparison.

I'm not even on to PL yet so this is fantastic news! Actually I did one or two quests, then returned to the main story. I do find the gameplay in general is more addictive though which makes even the base game vastly more enjoyable.

Finally started this today. I'm a massive fan of The Witcher 3, but was put off this a little bit by the initial reception. I thought I'd wait until it 'came good' and when I'd have a decent stretch of time to properly invest into this.

I've played it for 6 hours straight today. PS5 version. It's fecking great. I've pretty much stuck to the main story so far, but I love it. It's a mixture of Blade Runner, the 2012 version of Dredd , RoboCop and The Matrix, (amongst other things) all rolled into one. I love it.

Holy shit, this game is really really good now!

Booted it up for the first time since they rebuilt the game (and bought the expansion) and the difference is unbelievable. It's actually the game they promised in the first place, better and fresher in some cases too. I'm genuinely surprised at how much work they put into fixing everything.

It took a while but props to the developers for not just sitting back and counting their money. Fast becoming one of the best games I've played and I've not even started Phantom Liberty yet to get some of that digital Idris magic.

Agreed. Really well made game and Phantom Liberty is especially a blast. If it'd be (optional) a bit tighter at times, like PL, it's a 10/10 for me. Also wish the psycho-killer side-quests were a bit more expansive at times, so much potential to build upon.

Phantom Liberty takes it up a notch, you're in for a treat.

How long is the DLC? I might get it today and leave to install so it's ready for this evening.
Probably around 15 hours for the main content and 5-7 for the additional stuff. To be honest I played it with 2.0 so I kept hopping between Night City and Dog Town. It’s frickin amazing.

I've been addicted to this, too. Played a shit ton of it yesterday, cycling between different quests in the journal and any side gigs going on. It's just so good. The combat is fun as hell and there's so many different approaches you can take to take down your foes.

I'm looking at the Phantom Liberty DLC but am unsure of when to get it exactly. E.g. do I complete this game first and then play the DLC like I did with The Witcher 3's DLCs, or is it best to just go for it now and play it during this and balance that on top of the main story? Hearing conflicting things online about when to do it. I initially thought I'd go through this first and would tackle the DLC on a second run, but there's no new game+ mode apparently, and I'm not sure I've got the energy to go through all of this again.

It felt like it was intended to be played after the base game (to me)

Really? I’m not sure I see that. Without spoiling anything the DLC has direct ways to change the games ending so I think it makes sense to do it organically as you get to about halfway or 3/4 through the game.

I played through it with a character that had already finished the game. There was a lot of dialogue that recognised that, I guess they change it based on your game progress. It probably works whichever way you want to do it.

You’re supposed to play it before you complete the base game. And it’s only available after a certain main story mission. Beyond that it’s up to you - If you like concentrating on one area to the fullest or like jumping between things.

For me, given that it is intended to sit in amidst the base game’s narrative, I started PL towards the last fourth of the main game and then just shuffled between them based on my mood. DogTown is incredibly well put together (just like Night City but a different atmosphere altogether).

What sort of build do you have?

Currently Level 32, 50 Street Cred.

15 Technical Ability
12 Reflexes
11 Body
9 for Intelligence
6 for Cool

Aiming to go for Edgerunner option. However, I do spend quite a bit of my fights quickhacking enemies. Might need to spend more points on intelligence next and bring that up.

That Peralez side gig has to be one of the most interesting and well-written side missions in any game.

Just the themes alone, and the possible implications of what you're dealing with, and what that means for the larger world, is quite frankly, monumental and terrifying.

It takes a world that is already difficult to live in, and presents a hypothesis that makes it hopeless.

There are a few good side quests. The creepy cow one, that one, and also the one where the guy wants to kill himself.

Started PL yesterday night and got to the bit where you can leave Dogtown if you want. It's already unbelievable.

Probably makes my top 5 favourite games. CD Projekt's other game is number 1.
Yep, same for me. Definitely in my top 5 alongside TW3. It's insane how it's gone from being an utter mess at launch into something so damn good.

I think I need to get a better GPU. I stuck Path Tracing on for a few seconds on my 2060 and even at 10fps you could tell that it looked stunning. I don't think another game competes in terms of graphical fidelity. How it can be an open world game and the best looking thing on the market at the same time boggles my mind.

Seriously, HOW?!?!

This is for me one of the greatest ever missions in gaming. The heist in the base game is up there too. The level of immersion Cyberpunk achieves with its characters, atmosphere and storytelling, it's world the sheer artistry of which cannot be matched by realistic / real life based world's and the build and combat variety are what makes it so special.

Nice to see the game finally getting the recognition it deserves. The potential on release was there, but it’s a brilliant package now. I’d be excited to see what they could deliver in a second game.

Feeeeeck, that screenshot. I saw your post yesterday and spent a good bit of time watching videos on YouTube of people playing on high end settings on PC. The game already looks great, but looks something else when pushed. Shiiiiiit. What a game.

The more I play it, the more I love it. I initially switched my driving/riding camera to third person, but switched it back to first person and it's so much more immersing. Riding the streets at night time in that viewpoint is just beautiful. What a game. Amazing set of characters, too. It's just great. I'm glad I jumped into it when I did.

I've actually started playing this and so far it's looking good, guunplay was fine too which I worried about. I'm holding off for now as the world looks so immersive and I plan to mod it into VR when I get the PSVR2 PC adapter this week.
