Cuadrado

And is he that?
No he certainly is not, the very few times I've seen him play, he's looked extremely average. A couple of good World Cup matches doesn't change that. If we actually want a genuine upgrade on our wingers, we should be looking at better players than him. If anything Januzaj should be given a wing slot this season. Then we've got Valencia, Young, Kagawa, Lingard, Zaha and Welbeck who would look to get some game time on the other wing.

Just about everyone talks about him being a right wing-back. Certainly thats where Barca are looking to play him if they get him if not at full back. We have both Rafael and Valencia that can play that position if we decide to go for that system. Equally all of our wingers, barring Januzaj, are right-footed, some almost exclusively. Surely we'd need a left winger much more than we would a right winger.

And its a shed load of money thats being quoted. Don't see it. If we have a ton of dosh left after getting a centre back, centre midfielder, cover for left back and a left winger then we should perhaps consider it. Other wise I think we should avoid.

Does anyone know that Cuadrado had the highest number of assists at the WC? Four.

Now that's not a bad stat for a player who 'looked shite' to most of the people here.

He played a lot of matches on the left wing last season and his best games came from there, actually. I don't know which games some of you here have watched but from what I've seen (his performances in Serie A) he was one of the best wingers in the world in the past year.

Impressive. I didn't really notice him stand out in the games I watched, but clearly I wasn't watching close enough. His hair style was the main thing that caught my attention.

Got to admit. It's as silly as it gets. Looks like a thin ceiling mop running around the pitch.

Besides that, I actually thought he looked a real threat every time he burst down the wing. People on here are remembering that match against Brazil, when he had a woeful time. Happens to the best of them.

But he "doesn't pass", so that can't be true at all.

We need a new winger quite badly, dunno if this is the right guy as I've not seen him play much outside of the world cup (in which he was very good), but it's certainly not something I'd be livid about if we did bring him in.

He's got pace to burn and he has dribbling skills that rival the best of players. He's also got a wicked cross on him. Basically perfect for a counter-attacking team. Not to mention, he's playing for a team that scored 65 goals last season. Productivity is not that great at Fiorentina and finishing fourth by some distance in the Serie A proves that. Give him a good set of strikers and he might be a good signing after all.

Reminds me a bit of Nani. Some nice highlight moments but would probably drive caftards mad with inconsistency & selfish play.

He's become so overrated in the last year. He's not worth £35m by any stretch of the imagination. Barca can have him.

If di Maria goes to PSG, cuadrado is possibly the best winger for sale at the moment.
Having said that he is worth nowhere near 35m.

He often skins a player with his pace and skill only to allow the same player to get back and cover by taking too long deciding what he wants to do. Once his football intelligence catches up with his physical talents he'll be great, until then he reminds me of Gervinho when he played wide for Arsenal, flashes of excellence but ultimately disappointing end product. Not worth a huge bid but exciting player all the same.
Doesn't sound a very interesting player from this description.

Was co-owned by Udinese and Fiorentina

Fiorentina payed:
1st yr: 1 million (loan)
2nd yr: 5.5 million for the 50%
3rd yr - 20 june 2014: 14.5 million for the other 50%

Total: € 21 million

Yeah, he scored or assisted in 4 of his 5 WC appearances and looked like a good player in my opinion. 18 goals, 14 assists and 18 MoM awards for Fiorentina over the past two seasons is no shabby return. He also completed more dribbles than anyone else in Serie A last season.

Distinctly average player, the fees quoted for him are utter ludicrous, I give it a season before our fans start calling for a replacement.

I think the likes of Nani and Young fall into that category. Top assist makers at the WC are 'distinctly average' you reckon?

Plays with his head down but we really do lack the balance of a true pace outlet who can take players on.

What quantifies a completed dribble? Genuinely interested, is it when you run with the ball then pass it to a teammate or do you have to beat a player? If you beat the same player multiple times in the space of 20 seconds does it count multiple times?

Maybe been said but he looks just like from the guy from the prison episode of 'Max & Paddy'.

For what it's worth don't believe we are in for him at the quoted figures, but if we are and LvG has approved it then I'm happy with that.

Have to confess I don't know too much about him on club form, who would he be most comparable with, is he he worthy of the high fee been quoted?

Maybe you don't know either, if not ignore.

Valencia 3 years ago in terms of directness but he's got quick feet. I wouldn't have a probably with the fee but it is more than his worth.

Only saw him at the World Cup, but he reminds me of Neymar, very similar style, has bags of technical ability and is very good at manipulating the ball.

Was shite against Brazil though, but to be fair they all were in that match

He's being underrated here, but the price is still too high. He's also nothing like Valencia.

If he comes to us,needs to work on those celebrations , but other than that would be fantastic addition to the squad.

The comparisons with Valencia are ridiculously wide of the mark. Cuadrado is a trickster and has a much slighter build. He takes on players with quick feet and feints rather than ploughing through them like Valencia. He's also absolutely lightening and would be the perfect solution for our pace problem.

He's 26 so isn't some prodigy but that shouldn't put us off - Nani might be 27 but his best years are behind him, likewise Valencia and Young at 28 and 29, meanwhile Cuadrado really looks to be getting better every time I see him. He's very likely to leave Fiorentina and whoever gets him will have one of the best wingers around in the next few years IMO.

We need someone with pace and the ability to beat players badly.

He did an advert for the business I work for.

The actor. Not Cuadrado.

If we are playing 3-5-2, then it makes a lot of sense signing him above someone like sanchez or Di Maria.

True. But where would it leave Rafael? Difficult to have Cuadrado, Valencia and Rafael all competing for one place.

If we sign him, then he will be a replacement for Valencia imo. Rafael will still have his place in the squad.
