Cuadrado

He was not better then Sanchez at all, Sanchez was up there with the players of the tournament for the 4 games he was there. He was brilliant.

He actually was, got overshadowed a lot by James though.

Don't know if he's a better player than either though, haven't seen him play apart from WC.

I'll be generous here and say the average caf poster has seen him at most a couple of times before the WC.

Underwhelming, we should have been after Sanchez if we were looking at a new winger. I have read this guy can play wing back as well though so I can see why LvG would be interested.

His a very good player, of course his not on Di Maria/Sanchez's level but in the right system he can be deadly. If we play with wing backs his perfect for it and when LvG decides to switch to a 4-3-3 he can just move further forward while Rafa goes to RB.

And that's what it's all about. You don't automatically try to sign a player just because he's the best in his position, you try to sign a player who will fit into your system and improve the overall performance of the team. I'd love to see Cuadrado here.

If Van Gaal decides to play with wingbacks on a regular basis then Cuardrado would be the perfect choice. He'd improve the team and that's what we should be aiming for he'll give us versatility to be able to play as a wingback and a winger and is a big improvement on our current options.

Has anyone seen him play WB? Does he really have the defensive game for it? I've only seen this guy at the WC but the impression I'm left with is that Valencia would be a more solid choice to the right of a back 3.

I'm more inclined to think he would be a Nani replacement than a wing back.

From what i've seen sure he works hard, but he is not defensive minded at all. I would rather have Valencia / Raf there in the big games, but against teams that sit back he will do a good enough job, but better attacking.

I know he's not the most popular person around, but isn't Dani Alves a better fit as a wingback than Cuadrado? There were rumours that Barca are looking to offload him and I think a combination of Rafael/Alves/Valencia is enough for the RWB position.

Massive wages, Diva attitude and on the downward spiral IMO, no thanks.

Wages have to be looked at as a whole package with the transfer fee. If we can get him for Evra/Villa type money, then I think it will be a good deal over all.

Downward spiral is a bit too harsh. He's peaked and won't be improving at this stage of his career but I think he still has 3-4 good years in him. His Brazil performances have always been not that great because he doesn't play with positional discipline with the NT for some reason so I wouldn't put too much emphasis on his world cup performances. In Copa 2011, he would often be found in the CM position and was replaced with Maicon in then 3rd game I think. He was playing his best football at the time for Barca.

Nothing can be said about his diva attitude I'm afraid other than that a lot of (very good) players are like that now.

Every time I watch videos of this I see him more of a flashy Dinho type of player than a Dani Alves type. Dont get this wing back talk at all.

I don't like all this 'wing back' talk at all. I want proper #7s, not #2s trying to be#7s.

He was absolutely horrendous in the Brazil game though.

Are either Manchester United or Barcelona going to sign Juan Cuadrado?

The Colombian winger, who starred at the World Cup this summer, has been rumoured to be on the wishlist at Old Trafford and the Camp Nou for some time, however the latest updates from Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo is that the 26-year-old is set to cost big bucks.

Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has given fresh quotes on Cuadrado, and in doing so the price tag for the star has been set at a eye-watering €50 million.

Whilst stressing that Fiorentina are yet to receive a bid for Cuadrado from any party, Prade has now stated:

We hope he remains with us. We have never had official offers for him.

We talk frequently with him and his agent. On August 4th or 5th he will be back in Italy and then, we will talk.

It would be really difficult refusing a €50 millions euros offer. Let’s wait, and let’s see what will happen.

Cuadrado scored 11 goals in 32 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina last term, after making his loan switch from Lecce permanent.

True, hence why I am refraining from commenting too much on this thread. Really not sure about these players that have good WC's. IF true that some of the other clubs rumoured to want him, that does give me some confidence that they would have scouted him before.

Although people are probably doing the same with Blind and De Vrij. I've seen Blind a few times as my mate is an Ajax fan but you'd have to want to watch a lot of football to pick the Dutch league as a league to watch.

Dunno, there's definitely something in the Vidal transfer but I feel like this is just another case of our name being used by another club for their own benefit.

He is more Brazilian than any of the current players in Brazil. Very good dribbler but passes to teammates about once a year.
