Cuadrado

The prices quoted for this fella are bonkers. like, utterly out of line with the rest of the market, which is in itself, mental.

I'd like him, but the asking price is just daft. Di Maria, Depay, heck even Konoplyanka or Zaha would do but we need to rejuvenate our wide options i think.

Zaha and Konoplyanaka won't do for me, not good enough at all !

Di Maria is ofcourse the bomb but he'd cost in excess of €60m if reports are to be believed. Cuadrado would cost around €37m which is alot cheaper, on top of that Di Maria doesn't seem to want to come to us and is waiting on PSG to sell someone (most likely Cavani or something) so they can bring him in whilst staying under their FFP restrictions. He doesn't want us because we aren't in the CL and he his moving this season, not next season, short minded or not but it seems that is the reality, so best forget about Di Maria.

Depay is a nice young player but I don't know if he is ready yet and with Januzaj and Lingard we already have future prospects to nurse in the team, don't need to add another one, what we need is an immediate quality injection. Cuadrado would provide that on the right wing, I don't think the asking price is daft if you compare that to what we paid for Herrera and Shaw (Cuadrado is a better player than any of those two and would cost about the same).

I really hope we get him, atm looks like the best realistic player we can get for our wings.

Not as simple as that. Di Maria's wages would be much higher and also he might not even want to join you.
Who said Cuadrado would? Never mind the wages. At the same price Di Maria's wage difference would be worth it. He's a proven talent that can play all across the midfield. Doesn't seem like money is the biggest issue. United has never spent beyond their means. At the moment, the means are a lot higher than a few years ago.

Who would people prefer cuadrado for £37m euros or greizeman for about £30m euros, I'd prefer greizeman in the team as he can play on either wing and would suit lvg system as he is very comfortable on the ball and had a brilliant world cup

As much as I'd like Griezmann our need for a RW is needed more so Cuardrado.

Gotta admit I don't get the hullabaloo over this guy. Only thing i've seen of him was the WC, and there he performed no better than some of our current players.

He was brilliant at the World Cup! One of he best wingers at the tournament.

Wouldn't mind him in our team at all if we are selling Young and Nani. He doesn't have then "numbers" but his play is a lot better than Young/Nani and can easily hold down one position while we let Lawrence and Januzaj develop on the other flank.

All i ever saw was him losing the ball. Did a couple of impressive dribbles, but they never amounted to anything other than a "that could have been awesome". But then i didn't see every match.

Did you see him against anyone other than Brazil? He wasn't great in that game but he ended the tournament with a goal and 4 assists, which was the highest in the tournament.

I don't think a player should be judged by 4 matches in a tournament. I pretty much doubt 90% of those who want him have seen him more than once for Fio...

Have to say I don't get the hype either he's almost like for like with Nans, a very frustrating player to watch.

No brainer. Go with Blind over Cuadrado.
Buy both and you've got left back, left wing back, left sided centre back in a back three, defensive midfielder, right back, right wing back, right winger, wide forward and even striker covered.

Its strange that this guy is being linked to alomst every top club. He is nowhere near that good.

Would be good signing for Spurs, Valencia, Liverpool type of a club. I think this all was created by his agent.

He's been linked to Barcelona since winter of last season so it predates his success & increased exposure at the WC

Maybe he wouldn't, but the chance of him wanting to join Manchester United is higher since he plays for Fiorentina, whereas Di Maria is used to CL football which obviously right now you don't have and plays at Madrid.

It would, I agree. If you can convince Di Maria to join you he'd be a better buy. Cuadrado would be far from a disaster though, he was excellent in Serie A last year and bar Brazil had a very good World Cup.

He is a player who's flop potential is too high to spend big on.

I've always been an avid Fiorentina fan since the Batistuta days and I've watched alot of their games last season. I'm shocked all the big clubs are supposedly in for him. He's hugely talented but can be very inconsistent, he reminds of Nani so much, at the 40 mill being quoted it would be a silly signing.

I think he will surprise people if he gets a big move. Most are thinking he's hyped because of the World Cup but he was highly rated even before then after a good season with Fiorentina.

Bayern were rumoured to buy him and move him back to RB, which is where people think he will end up. He is similar to Valencia although he has more variety in that he can come inside if need be and link-up. He is more effective at attacking the LB and taking him on the outside, he would provide plenty of assists and a few goals.

If the price was right, I would definitely take a punt on him.

You make some good points, i just hope we don't get bent over.

not worth the money or the hype, better version of nani but still as inconsistent as him, buy greizeman

There's no way we are in for this guy, he's 26, had one decent season and is massively unproven at the highest level to even considering spending this much on. Fiorentina just want a bidding war and are using our name as everyone does.

Don't rate him really. Certainly not worth the touted figures.

Overpaying for average players? Sounds like us.

In a summer where Di Maria and Sanchez are moving clubs, i'll be disappointed if we end up with him.

I was a fan of seeing him last season when I saw him play for Fiorentina. However, I'd rather splash that kind of cash on other targets first and then go for him. But I can see why Van Gaal would want him if he does, he works hard, skillfull and has a decent shot on him.

He's a lot more skillful and less dull than Valencia for sure. Doesn't mean he's that much better though, at least it'd be exciting to watch him.

He often skins a player with his pace and skill only to allow the same player to get back and cover by taking too long deciding what he wants to do. Once his football intelligence catches up with his physical talents he'll be great, until then he reminds me of Gervinho when he played wide for Arsenal, flashes of excellence but ultimately disappointing end product. Not worth a huge bid but exciting player all the same.

Perhaps the player himself desires a move to Manchester United strongly? Mitten did comment on the club targeting players with a desire to play for Manchester United, à la Herrera.
